Version A Confirmed!

Absolutely, for me at least. I popped in last night (Thursday) and sure enough, the machine has been upgraded to Version A - there's a little logo in the bottom right during the attract mode.

Anyway - I'm game tonight (Friday).

Version A: that's fantastic news. Although I didn't think the version changes were huge (from what I read) its great that we're keeping up to date.

When things calm down at work I would love to blow off a little steam with an FT session. I received my "Master Guide" today (thank's Reno!!) so when I get bored in my Hotel Room I can peruse it and keep interested!

Many thanks to b4k4, Cheetah and his friend Jason for coming out tonight - I had a great time. I think that Cheetah, *and Jason*, should come out and play more often.

Guys, you both have the skills to become significantly better - and it seems to me that you genuinely like the game. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Cheetah's Pai is clever and his timing is excellent, making his pressure/oki game a challenge to defend at times. He definitely needs to start adding the second + in combos - it's worth the extra damage. I think our matches are quite a lot of fun, as I enjoy the mind games just as much - especially with Pai.

Jason's Lion has all the tools. He just needs to spend 15 seconds putting it together. Learn your guaranteed damage situations - i.e. pouncing after your opponent fails to TR Lion's ++. Otherwise, it's all there - trust me when I say that basic exposure to other players will make you get better faster than you can imagine.

b4k4's Goh is getting to be quite good, imo. As is his Lei. I think it's really just a matter of time before he starts to really have a tight, competitive game that will give us all trouble. The interest and love for the game is definitely there - and there's really little else you need. Read the tables, hone the skills of dealing out guaranteed damage, and a force to be reckoned with you will be /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I had fun too. Hopefully this friday we'll get to play again. I'll get a game in against b4k4 next time.

Yeah my game still has alot of holes in it. Need to learn to use my parries more, use the guaranteed low throws more and like you said learn pai's more damaging combos. I learnt a lot last night thx owen.

Jason's pretty new to VF and last night was like the 2nd time he's ever played on an arcade stick hehe but he's picking it up pretty fast. I'm still pretty new to VF, need to gain more experience against human players.

 

Friday August 1st

Assuming no changes to my physical well-being I'll be at metro square starting around 8pm. Mall, I'll bring your memory card...so if you want it, take it.

Friday August 1st...Looking ahead to SFM I

Great fun last night - good to get some games in with GE and Shroud too, as I have been playing the late shift lately. Just after GE and Shroud left, Johnson decided to have his way with b4k4, Mall, kbcat and myself - racking up 19 wins with Lion. It was a very painful experience, which Mall thankfully ended /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

On a side note, I would like to have a Sunday Freeplay Madness (SFM) sometime soon. With the exception of next weekend's thanksgiving, are there any upcoming weekends that are red flags for people? Let me know here, and I'll try to come up with a date amenable to all.
