    Results

This thread is quiet, and I'm sure non-IRC folks are dying to hear the results, so:

1st place: (Japan): Ohsu, Homestay, and Hakkusion (akira akira lau)
2nd place: (Korea): Team Crazyboys - Buddhist priest Haewon, Zzangmu, Air-Lion (lei jacky lion)
3rd place: (Korea): Team Replays - Shinz, Moonsuk, Woongsun (akira akira kage)

    Notes:
Japan was not able to field as many players as originally hoped, I don't think hereru made it. The second japanese team had to borrow a korean to make 3 people: Kyasao, CYC, and Savita (a korean akira player I'm told.) This team made the final 8, and was knocked out by Replays (shinz/pos.akira/woongsun).
Team Hydra (IMF, Blonde_One, and Ice-9) failed to qualify, losing all their matches =(.

The strength of team crazy boys was in their jacky player, Zzangmu...homestay had a lot of good things to say about him (I'll praise YOU... for your STRENGTH!). To see what might be the players on team crazy boys, as well as their korean ring names and characters:
    http://zzipper.x-y.net/nick/nomercy/vs016.html

The first and third place teams don't really need an introduction, but it should be noted that on shinz' team, the guy who knocked out homestay is a 90% kage player in japan.

The sticks: The japanese players brought their own sticks (via ohsu) and were able to swap them in for their matches. Yamainu was able to arrange the buttons to be close to the japanese layout. Hydra opted to use the japanese sticks as well.

The tournament rules: Single elimination, due to the length of a 3v3 tournament and the number of players.
To reach the finals, they had to win six games. To win the finals, it took 9 games.

The matches to reach the finals:

Hakkusion vs Shinz (Shinz wins, Japan:0 Korea:1)
Homestay vs Shinz (Homestay wins, Japan:1 Korea:1)
Homestay vs POS.Akira aka moonsuk (Homestay wins, Japan:2 Korea:1)
Homestay vs Woongsun (Woongsun wins, Japan:2 Korea:2)
Woongsun vs Ohsu (Ohsu wins, Japan:3 Korea:2)
Ohsu vs Shinz (don't know the result here. I'm assuming ohsu)
    Ohsu vs Woongsun (Ohsu wins)

If I understand the rules correctly, I must be missing one of the matches that put japan at +6 games. But we know ohsu's team advanced to the final with crazyboys. I also heard that ohsu was a madman and won six in a row to help japan take the crown.

And the question we're all dying to know about:

[5:41pm]« oo34 » every single match was super great !
    [5:41pm] <CreeD> recorded? /versus/images/icons/smile.gif
    [5:41pm]« oo34 » sure dude
    [5:41pm]« oo34 » we are not a dumb...~~~
    [5:42pm] <CreeD> hahahahaha sorry
    [5:43pm]« oo34 » :p

Big thanks to oo34 for the information, and I hope it's reasonably complete and accurate. When the florida boys are finished drowning in souju, they can fill in the blanks.

Also thanks to oo34 for the fruits of his digital camera. If you'll recall, oo34 = dize (www.dize.com). Half of his pictures I've posted before, the other half is mostly the same: the famous japanese and korean players. Some of them you can recognize by silhouette alone /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif ...the gaming room is oo34's, posted with his permission.

ah! thanks for the corrections. I'll change my post.

Edit: Dize says shinz was supposed to take brad, but decided to go with akira instead, so I'll keep him as akira unless I find out otherwise
