Team Tournament in SoCal, Friday March 30!!

you have to forgive me for not understanding your point of view. Maybe you can explain it on your own terms. However people are spending time and money to go to this event and naturally they want the best possible experience they can have. I see team tourney here as more fun than the single event. Now I heard there are over 20 players in socal, I don't see how hard is it to put together 3 people and make a few teams out of 20 people. We did it in 5 minutes. Other than unsafedan, it seems no one cares. How do you expect srider to care if you don't even care? So I say why don't you host itself?

 

I agree Socal and more so Plague is the host to this event and talking to him on a daily basis we do want this to be the best North American VF gathering ever.

It starts with the gathering on Thursday and ends at the Buylan.com tournament on Sunday.

The Plague Singles tourney on Saturday and the gatherings on Thurs, Fri. were part of the original plan. Then came the idea of this Team Tourney which is fine.

I just think it was poorly planned and ill conceived. Especially to the point where people were confused about what tournament was what. Was it a singles or team tourney they were attending?

The better idea was to have the gathering on Thursday and meet and have fun with your fellow VF'ers. Then announce during that party that we should have a small Team Tourney on Friday. Once this was announced then people could start playing each other and then make up teams. More than likely Nocals will stay with Nocals, Socal stick with Socals, etc, etc.... it works itself out. Very easy and basic...no confusion necessary. No need to put a deadline.

As shown now we have some teams with 4, some with 3, others with 2. Heck I don't even know who from Socal will be able to attend every gathering or tourney.

Which makes this a mess. If better planned then the better the outcome for this Team Tournament.

What time will the Team Tourney be? Hopefully earlier in the day. I plan on hosing a DOA thing at my house that night since DOA players from around will be in town this weekend.

The important thing is the main tourney. Team battles can be planned at a later time!!! If its so important, plan out the structure of the team tourney first and then fill in the people later. Playing VF is cool, but you people need sleep too. I find playing against well rested players to be more enjoyable. Stress about the bullshit later. Lets make sure the main event is well prepared. That is the focus, right? Lets make sure our guests feel welcome and have a great time. I think that should be Socal's primary goal.

P.S. any more complaining from brian or shang and i will personally kick your asses.

I'm sure Alex, Brian, or whoever probably have a good idea of who they want to be with.
And then we also have the other SoCal players Castle, Matt K needing a final team mate.

I like to register team MYSTERY and team LEFTOVERS. By standard tournament qualifying procedures, if the members are missing or the team is incomplete then it is disqualified by default, unless a replacement member can be found at the current time of the tournament. The members of these teams would like to remain anonymous until the day of the tournament.

 

I just wanna say, that my team is going to murder all of you. MURDER! ALL OF YOU!

And you fence sitters, get up and make a god damn team.

Part of the fun of this is the tension leading up to the matches. Even though many of us don't know eachother well, we can talk smack behind eachother's backs and have some expectations leading up to the tournament if we all form some teams. We really should post what character we're going to use too (and set it in stone). That way, I can say "Oh, I need to practice against Sarah, etc."

If people don't have enough members from their local scene, PM me or Srider and maybe we can work something out. But just because we have deadlines and try to be organized, doesn't mean this can't be a fun, enjoyable team tournament.

Sorry Guys, due to lack of interest, there will not be a Team Tournament as planned; at least it will not be ran by me.

Maybe next time. Look forward to the singles tournament though.

 

Why don't the people who don't have the appropriate numbers for a team just team up with each other? Who gives a fuck about this X-area with X-area only shit? I'd understand if this had an entry fee for it, but it doesn't, so why the hell not? We can easily make 8 teams. If not, just round robin it.

People are coming from ways away to have a full on experience, and a team tourney would be great. Another cool event for an expected great event.

And if Srider won't run it, I'll run it, I've ran tournies before, and a team one isn't any different/harder.

There hasn't even been an actual time set or agreement in this whole thread...what would everyone prefer? I'd suggest around afternoon, like at least BY 3PM, preferably starting or getting started around 1PM.

And the thing about wanting to win, playing to win...another reason why I suggested an entry fee in this...even a small one would work, winner take all, or normal entry fee with 70/20/10 split. I'm pretty sure MONEY would make ppl play to win.

And who's going to disagree that a team tourney would be fucking boring/lost cause?
