    SICK news and screenshots !!!!

    http://www.tekkenzaibatsu.com/news/index.php?mode=article&newsid=333

''And finally some details about the Tekken 5 system engine. New features include crush moves, long range throws and jumping property moves.

The crush moves (temporary name for this feature) are essentially moves specifically empowered to have purer anti high or anti low properties, up until now Tekken has always been a little shady in this area. When the opponent executes such a move your hit box will be voided and your move will be crushed every time. The example below shows Law's Dragon Sweep acting as an anti high against Kazuya's Wind Godfist.

The default left and right throws in Tekken 5 cover a much longer distance (view the screens below) than ever before by taking a step before actually executing the throw. We suspect this is an alternate attempt at curing the back dash runaway issue from Tekken Tag. Limiting the back dash in Tekken 4 only led to jabs getting over prioritized, so hopefully this means the back dash will be longer again to avoid this while curbing the runaway potential with the long range throws.

Jumping attacks will actually have jumping properties in Tekken 5, so low and special mid attacks will easily lose to or whiff jumping attacks. For example, in the past a jump kick could always be beat with a crouching jab. This was based solely on hit timing and the hit box of the move in question. In Tekken 5 the results will be consistently in favor of the jumping attack in this scenario.''

    Other stuff :
    - Vindicator posted : "And like VF,throw breaking motions are added for each throw.''
He got the info from Famitsu magazine.

We also got some screens to go along with the new character customization feature which was confirmed earlier last week. The E3 trailer revealed certain items
can be obtained to change the look for your character but now we also have confirmation the character's color scheme will be editable or selectable via the card system.

    Happy happy joy joy!
*crosses fingers for bobblehead purple Onikun shoulder item for Kazuya*
Now I have to hope that (a) arcades in America install the card reader modules with all the vandals around and (b) that they are as tough as the original Legos so that when sticky fingered rugrats come along they don't totally wreck them.

Edit: removed (a) - screenshots of Marduk took care of (a)

I usually try not to make too many comments on player costumes....

But I'll make an exception for King's new outfit.

    Why?

    Well.....

Don't you think running around with "Anger of Beast" printed on your crotch is a bit ...er....not normal? Even in a world full of tacky costumes?

    Re: punch out !!

Ugh. Looking at one of the screenshots, Jack5 has the rocket punch. That's as annoying as Jin's corpse thrust. Oh well. Jack needs all the loving he can get.

Customization: not only does King have 'Anger of the Beast' on his crotch...but he can also wear Iron Sheik Boots!

And ugh... I was eating while browsing the new screenshots and I saw the advertisement in the background....the idea of enjoying a nice frothy Beefshake! kind of killed my appetite...

I'm still waiting for more info on the new throw system, as well as the 'buffering' that is going to be featured for 'the first time in the series'. At least they got rid of the damn sidewalk from hell. I guess we'll find out over the next couple days when the test version hits the arcades.

Why do I have a feeling that Tekken 5 is going to very very big.

And it's available at Evolution this year.

    Re: punch out !!

Well if it plays anything like VF like they claim to be it's gonna be a big clash of the fighters but I like both games so it's cool with me. Just I hate switching from 4 buttons back to 3, lol. I start pressing the X button in tekken thinking it'll block and I start kicking ppl but it does help tho, lol. Which is why I play VF on a stick and Tekken on a pad. I can't play Tekken on a stick for some reason.

    Pad players !

    http://www.gigex.com/playstation2/article/?id=7298&game_id=2773&source=00001

''Arguably the best innovation to hit US arcades in some time, the Tekken 5 cabinet will feature PlayStation 2 controller ports. This will allow players to bring their Dual Shock 2 pads from home to use in arcades. No longer will arcade goers have to complain that they would play better on a pad, or that the sticks need to be adjusted. Now you can bring your own PS2 pad, or any PS2 compatible arcade stick to your arcade for Tekken 5 action that feels just like you're at home.''

    No more excuses.
