i hope you don't mean it in the context of multiple fireballs and shapeshifting.
but speaking of which, i wonder who is going to have a ridiculously slow, yet damaging projectile move this time around. i never played T4 very much, so i'm not sure if anybody had one there or not.

True Ogre had TWO in fact, one was one the ground and the other one was in the style of Devil/Angel as it was done in the air and took forever to initiate. Illu did you even play T2 or T3?

    Lee in Tekken 5

Anyone see or have any links to Renderd art or screens of Lee Chaolan in Tekken 5?

Yeah, forgot those freaks. Mentioning "ridicilously slow and damaging projectiles" just made me think someone is comparing Tekken with some 2D madness... /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Umm...TTT is my main game. Or at least as much as VF4evo. I played only a little T2, but T3 is one of those games I've played sooooooo much. More than T4...even tho that doesn't mean a thing since every tekkenite knows what T4 is to us T3/TTT game engine fans.

So yeah. I've played 'em. /versus/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Edit: Oh and T3 is far from dead.

T2 had by far the best music in the series and probabley better than any other fighter. It was good enough to affect your mood and your play especially Kazuya's 2 themes (best tunes ever). While gameplay improved after T2 it's a real shame to me at least that the music got butchered as I feel it's as important as graphics when it comes to atmosphere and enjoying the whole experience.

TTT has some awesome music in it . Yoshimitsu's stage, The ending, and just most of the general music was well composed.

I'll agree about T2's music. I've yet to find a game that had such memorable themes. From T2, I can still tap out Kazuya's theme and Yoshi's. Unfortunately, I can also tap out Paul's and Nina's, even though I hate them. The home intro movie was also one of the best theme songs I've heard.

From TTT, I barely remember the snow stage theme - I don't remember anything from T3. T4 wasn't played long enough to remember anything. And T4 was probably played as much as T2 was, and neither came anywhere near to the combined playing time I spent on TTT and T3.

I have to agree with Dandy J here: while sources said the game was to be heavily influenced by VF, seems that the main stylistic influence would have to be Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. That new guy does look exactly like a Shang Tsung type, and the Blade guy is hilarious. If you look at the screens over at Tekken Official:

    www.tekken-official.jp/tekken5/screenshot/index_e.html

they scream Mortal Kombat. Since Tekken isn't that popular in Japan, I can only assume they're trying to appeal to American players with this style.

all comments on visual style BTW, not gameplay

I agree that Mortal Kombat seems like the main influence. That new chick reminds me of Aoi though, and that Wesley Snipes guy looks insane!!

Yeah he has that Shang Tsung look to him, but for some reason he reminds me of Lan Di and when you don't look at his face here he seems to look like a bare chested Lau. Other than that I don't see too much MKDA influence. They actually brought back some of the old outfits for some of the characters. The Wesley Snipes dude reminds me more of a mix of Zack and Hayabusa like Dandy said than anything from MK.

I 100 percent agree. I was talking to a friend earlier on AIM actually and we were saying how he reminds us of Lan Di. I hope Namco is not influenced by MK DA in any way at all.

    Re: Nice video.

well, in addition to character design, the whole mood of the game seems really MKDA to me, the kind of moonlight clash of dudes with angry faces, scars, and lots of braided ponytails. The embriodered pants with the silky flame patterns, lots of leather straps & buckles, undead ninjas with glowing green swords, the apocolypse is near, and Heihachi is dead! So's Lu Kang! Didn't Kazuya used to be dead?

look at the screen shot of the Feng Wei guy elbowing Law, with the big stone dragon head in the background, or the one of Raven & Paul, or Raven jumping on Hwaorang's head: if you told me that these were screens from a new MK, aside from the presence of Paul, Hwao & Law, I'd believe you. They just have that MK feel and mood.

Esp the shot of Paul & Raven: the fantasy setting, kind of "Dragon Temple" made of stone and chains, ominous moonlight. Couldn't this be the Outworld? is that the new SubZero trying to freeze Paul with a snowball?

Seriously, this is a big departure from the kind of urban settings of T4.

Again, just interesting to note changes in style. Relative to VF3, VF4 had a HUGE Tekken Tag influence when it came to character design. T5 seems to be influenced by Blade, Van Helsing, and Mortal Kombat.

But, for all I know, this game could play better than Final Tuned

But if you're observations turn out to be true then I want the blind Kenji dude and a fox stepping Frankenstein. LOL

Not that I really care about any who influenced who bs (I guess I find it intersting to talk about without caring who came first)... But from the videos Raven reminded me a lot of Jacky Bryant with how he moved. The look of his big roundhouse kick, a d/b+P low punch thing, the flip kicks all reminded me of Jacky.

Asuka reminded my of Aoi with thebig pants, one of the throws, and a u/f+k looking thing. It's been so long since I've played any fighting games that I can't remember if Jun had those moves.

Feng Wei reminded me of Lau a little bit.

I'm just happy cuz so far we don't have any info to suggest that T5 will suck. And also no sign of tag yet.

I did something about it; I downloaded it through streambox. There are enough threads mentioning it to make the search easy, also there is an apparant successor to streambox mentioned in a new thread by catch-22.

Nice enough trailer although I don't believe that heihachi is dead.

Marduk's air throw looks hillarious. most funny though is the end. ahhhh namco, so crazy.
