Yes it is. I'm totally with Aoimaster on this one. Fix the system, make characters balanced, add some mobility and depth, maybe kick kangaroos out - THEN I'm impressed. Item moves... just don't sound serious. Instead of fixing Tekken's ever-present inherent flaws Namco is trying to impress people by making Tekken even more of a panopticum than ever. "Hey look! So what system's old and worn-out, look it's sooooo colorful! Buy buy buy, you know you want to!". If it fits your boat, then ok I guess.

If, I say IF they will pull this through, I'm guessing Lei will put handcuffs on his opponent, like rumored since Tekken 3. Meh.

oh god item usage. It's turning into mortal kombat style. I don't mind if it's part of the devil quest mode type game but not in Vs mode. As an item to wear is fine but to use them. The news on Yoshi is quite cool to me, I was not a good yoshi player but I did like him as did my cousin. It'll be interesting to see what they do to him this time round

It would be nice to handcuff the opponent and pin him/her down for a few secs.

Look concur with the system balancing, depth adding, animals ditching issues, but I think that the items moves should be fun/interesting.....

Maybe... in some way. I was against those moves from the begining, BUT, if there would be an option to turn off those item moves, and play the regular versus mode (same as it was with weapons' effects in SC2), then it's fine with me....
By fine, it's obvious that I mean, I would not bash the idea, however, if the choice between regular and item-ish VS will not be present in the final ver. of the game.... then simply: SCREW Tekken.
The game is already nearing the highest point of crap-o-meter IMO, so another flaw (yes, for me that's what it is) would just be too much.
I completely agree with Jigohro on the balance thing, but, just as an interesting thing, few words from my friends Matt and Devil: "The fact that Tekken is not a balanced fighter is a great thing. I hate it when ppl can win with the same effort with every character. I want to know that someone is going to use Nina, Steve or Feng 'cause they are better. This way I can train harder against those chars and win easier AGAINST them. That is of course why so many ppl tend to choose mid-tier, and low-tier characters for tournaments... to surprise their opponents."

That's how one can view the perspective of balance in a fighting game. I don't like that idea, but it somehow shows how you can accept and like unbalanceness, and have quite a logical explanation for that.

It sounds more like rationalization of a BAD idea then logic. I'll have to reserve judgement about T6 until I actually get to play it, but man, item moves certainly seem stupid.

They need a new arcade board or a new game engine. It looks to dated for a next gen game. I guess I could look at it on a positive note people will see that out of VF or Tekken VF looks better and that they should go with VF (minus the hardcore Tekken fans).

I don't see the problem with item moves. Assuming they don't upset the game balance (and if the shotgun move is anything to go by, it looks like it's hardly going to replace his standard juggles) then it will appeal to casual gamers, while the more serious gamers can get on with the game. Namco appeals to both markets, Namco makes money.

The lasers etc. already in the game hardly throw the balance off, but are a great attraction to new players. New player comes, spends their quarter/dollar/yen whatever to try out the move.

And it's times like these that make me thankful for some kind of objective data on how the games are doing. Some of the posts here make it sound like Namco needs to lift their game, which I don't think is the case at all.

Honestly, I'm not entirely digging the whole "item move" thing. I mean, they sound like a nice novelty, but some thing like that needs to stay in games like DBZ: Budokai. Hopefully they won't have too much effect on game balance and such, even if it's supposedly only one move. Also, how many chars will have these item moves? I don't see why Bryan can't have the shotgun normally. Yoshimitsu's had that blade for so long, so why not.

Yoshi getting a whole new style sounds interesting.

In any event, I'll wait until the game footage shows up or I'm able to play it to decide. Either way, I hope for the best for this Tekken.
