Advanced movement in Tekken is very character specific. only certain characters can wavedash and light dash, certain character's backdashes are better than others, Lei Wu Long is the only character with his kind of backwards movement and so on and so forth

If you tell me which characters you use I might be able to help you or at least point you in the right direction.

I know he plays Miguel too, I'm pretty sure he doesn't have a crouch dash or anything.

Why in the world are you JUMPING? And when you play against people who know what they're doing, you'll know that because of the off-axis combos and stages, it's never a dial-a-combo affair.

You're from Cali... there are no shortages of good Tekken players there.

Also, movement is character specific. Stop expecting to play Tekken thinking it's a copy of VF that's what you will end up with afterwards. They're two different games.

Tekken vs Virtua Fighter 5R. Bundle TvsVF and VF5R into one game....sell a billion copies.

10 hit strings suck and stop jumping.

I know they are two different games, I was expressing MY personal preference when it comes to game play.

I never said I jumped, I just stated I don't like the way it looks.

I think it looks more natural and works better in Tekken, though both of them look pretty stale.

I'd like something like the low jump in King of fighters XII instead, faster and more stylish.

The only jumps that look good IMO in TK and VF are the ones used as special moves.

But when you follow those comments with, "Why can't they have the characters move around the ring like they do in VF?" it sounds like you might be making a statement on how the game should be.

That being said, heavy down attacks in VF are pretty exaggerated looking and the jumps seem to defy gravity with how long you are airbourne, so picking on this is kind of silly.

I love the VF heavy down attacks and personally I think most jumping attacks should suck. If a 3D fighter had people repeatedly
hopping around it would look like shit imo. You know what looks
    exaggerated? Every hit in Tekken.

Purely a design choice. I'm not saying that either are bad, exaggerated or "realistic."

Aye. Tekken's always been based off hyper-realism - Devil was in Tekken 1 after all. It's like complaining about Street Fighter having fireballs and that not being realistic.

It was never meant to be in the first place.

I started playing VF in the VF4 days, but I played the 10th Anniversary game in Evo and remember the jumping in VF1 being really exaggerated. That was fun.

Thinking about it now... makes me think they were going for the kung fu movie look, with the floating characters.

I loved VF2, but the those huge jumps got under my skin, and how long it took to get up.

I like the extremely hard-hitting look of Tekken. I'm not a huge fan of the hit effects but the actual animations of the attacks and knock downs look pretty brutal and add spice to the game. I agree, they were going for a kung-fu movie type feel.

I've also noticed that a lot of the low attacks in Tekken 6 have block animations which is always a nice touch. I know VF had them at one point (VF3?) and decided to move away from them again but they look good where they're thrown in in Tekken 6.

Once they patch the netcode and reduce some of the button-mashing lag abuse, I will be very, very happy with the game. I think they did an unbelievable job with the move sets and further differentiating the characters from each other as some of them used to be a little too similar. I really, really like this iteration of Tekken, it's great.

Gernburgs, what game don't you like? Not being sarcastic, just curious. Libertine I was just giving you a hard time is all.
Personally I find Tekken very clunky gameplay wise. As far as the feel? I see it more like Kill Bill or Charlies Angels, the modern
    day kung fu movie.

VF did rock the super jumps though.

Mortal Kombat is really the only un-playable current fighting game...its barely a fighter by my standards

There's many, but not that many Fighting Games that I don't like.

Tekken 6 is definitely a sick game. If you think it's a bad game, that's your opinion but I imagine most would disagree.

I don't like KOF XII much... I don't like SF4 much either. I actually really don't like SF4 at all, the mechanics of the game are not my thing, it's pretty butt.

I have always played Tekken and VF though. I used to play Tekken 2 religiously, even in the arcade. I played VF1 in the arcade like crazy as well. I've always been a little better at 3D fighters than 2D but they should make a new Dark Stalkers game, I'd play that.

Personally i heavily dislike tekken animation and hits. Firstly the character models look terrible in comparison to other fighting games especially VF5. The weird red explosions after a hit are also wacky and the combos do WAY to much damage, its like after 1 hit a combo can lead to 50%+ of life bar.
I don't no much else about it but it DOES look kinda fun for a casual fighting game, basically a very watered down version of vf targeted to little kids. But i would probably get tired of it pretty fast.
