I watched all 5 parts of the tutorial, learned a few things even. I really look forward to more episodes, maybe they can do character specific ones or something that would be nice. All in all they did a very good job and if your new to Tekken like me then you owe it to yourself to take a 50 minute sitting and take it all in. [IMG]

I tried to give Tekken a chance back in the arcade, but... The system, oh the system. Disregarding that characters have pretty much all of their animations/quotes unchanged since Tag (is Namco afraid fans will leave if they change an opening? [IMG] ), what gets to me the most is the combo system.

The closest analogy I can find to juggling another player in Tekken is this: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/90/239280301_d3831319ba.jpg

The "I fell down and can't get up" system gets me tired really fast... it's not like I won't be playing a few rounds with my man Griev here (Feng power), but this oki, twitch whiff baiting and poor throws assure Tekken will be my last choice of a fighting game, customization be damned [IMG] .

    This.

Maybe playing VF forever has tainted my ability to try to play any other fighter... their systems just make no sense.

Apparently those IAmTekken tutorial videos are filled with errors, misinformation, and mistakes. So don't take them too seriously.

I thought the tutorials were pretty well done, I'm not saying it's perfect but can you give some examples of what was wrong with it?

I asked them on YouTube about their criteria for an "Absorb" move and I felt it was wrong but that was all I saw. What other things did you hear about that were wrong?

For a fighting game that has 40 characters and multi level stages, I'm very amaze how the game turned out graphically. And about the damage......You do realise that VF is the only fighting game that has the clock set to 45sec on default. Matches last longer in Tekken than VF. One thing I wish VF had was the method of countering a counter. Something Tekken has.

I used to know I dude that played Tekken at tournament level and he said, at high levels of play, the reversals become a lot less useful because the good players buffer a chicken into almost everything.

How were they 'well done' if there is wrong information present? I don't know enough about Teken to discuss the system in depth so I can't comment on what is specifically wrong in the video (ST, 3S, and VF are what I know in and out). But people at SRK and #Capcom were ragging on the videos enough that I took notice to the criticism. I'm sure people at TZ can point out the mistakes as well.

VF has other measures for balancing reversals: You have to guess hit level (in Tekken reversals reverse both mid and high attacks at the same time) and you will get counter hit by all attacks you couldn't reverse (in Tekken if you hit someone with a low then they do a reversal you will get a normal hit).

Personally I prefer VF's method of balancing reversals.

Yeah at those levels they do seem to become irrelevant but the funny thing is that might then result in those players not bothering to chicken buffer anymore making them useful again.

Parries on the other hand like Law or Jin's or Bryan or Steve's punch parry can't be reversed.

True, the countering system in Tekken is very safe compare to VF. But, I really like the idea of countering a counter. It makes the game very "Hong Kong Cinema" like. If something like this was in VF, I assume it will be very similar to throw escape's.

This is a good point about balancing reversals. I've also noticed there are some reversals that can't be broken but you have to guess whether it's going to be a punch or a kick. King can reverse high and mid punches and kicks but the reversals are specific to those attacks: You can only reverse punches with b+1+3 and kicks with b+2+4... They balance that by making his reversals "un-chickenable"...

They are hard for me to actually use in a match but against certain characters, like Steve who only punches or Hworang and Baek who mostly kick, they are probably much better.

I hate Hworang if anyone cares. He's my second most-hated character next to Eddy Gordo (I am getting a little better against Eddy now though)...

I think this game has a good AI too. The ghost mode is pretty good and I've learned a lot just playing different ghosts.

I've been online with 6BR for the last 2 weeks at many different times during the day and night.

After playing hundreds of matches of the new Tekken online, it just gets funnier and funnier. I've never seen a fighting system abused so much. If the designers at Namco are watching any of these matches, they've got to be in tears [IMG] I know cats are just trying to accomodate for lag, but the constant spamming of unbreakable, unblockable, unblowup-able moves [IMG]
just makes Tekken6 online experience more and more comical. It almost feels like ur in a joke match [IMG] I'm reminded of that move the joker can do in the new mortal kombat, the one where the boxing glove can hit you from the other side of the stage [IMG]

I've never seen so many long range spams in my life [IMG] its
all good, I've been havin mad fun, but most of the time it
feels like some kind a surreal harlem globe trotters match. I'm getting addicted now, I know that I'm going to loose the next match, but I just can't wait to start the next fight so
I can see what kind of whacky shit the next player is gonna bring. Maybe its just my VF prejudice, but I just don't think
VF can be abused the same way Tekken can (at least I've never seen it)

I know for some players its all about adding 1 to their win column, but at some point doesn't it get boring [IMG] I was in the lobby of a room last night watching a fight between an
eddy gordo player and a alisa player [IMG] OMG [IMG] I laughed so hard I almost had to leave the room. Eddy was flyin and flippin, alisa was throwing her head and flyin in circles, Eddy pulled her arms off and then she drop kicked him and left her head in his hand and her head blew up like a bomb, which put Eddy in some kind of a stun [IMG] and then at one point
the match was tied 2-to-2 and both players stood as far away from each other as possible doing the Tekken Conniption Twitch(TCT) and just as the clock was about to run out, Alisa
shot Eddy with some kind of projectile all the way from her side of the stage [IMG]

Look, Tekken has a really deep fighting system, and I know there are many players that take it seriously, but Cmon ppl [IMG]

Roger, Kuma, Panda, Alisa, Azazel, Jacks, Flyin Devil Jin alone introduce some pretty whacky game play. And when you add online Lag with these characters, and the infamous move spam
all I can do is laugh.

Its like my opponent will spam a move, and then I say
I see your spam and I raise you 2 spams, and then my opponent says I call your 2 spams, and he then asks to see what I can do [IMG]

Its not all spam though, I did encounter this Raven player
who appears to have mastered the art of phase shifting [IMG]
Now U C him Now U don't [IMG] and as they say
U can't hit what U can't C. The sad thing is it was my first match against a Raven player, so when he did his first phase shift, I was like W.T.F? At first I thought it was some kind of new lag effect [IMG] All I could say about that match is Kage just say no to Raven[/size] Don't hang out with him, he'll be a bad influence on U. I thought after being demolished by some good Kage players that the Maru was just too magical, but after fighting the sometimes phased-in, sometimes phased-out, ninja from Tekken, I must apologize to all the Kage fighters to whom I've flipped the bird.

TBH I've never laughed so much during a fighting game as I have playing Tekken 6 online these last two weeks. I do feel
I got my money's worth, If I had to do it again I would, but lets b real, If you want a real martial art combat system then Virtua Fighter is the game, sure it has a smaller community, and not as much hype, and there are less people to play, but even with those negatives its the best fighting game on the planet [IMG]
