I disagree with the Sarah comment above me.

I think Tekken Vs VF game should happen. The reaction between Tekken and VF fans would be hysterical.

I think it is possible though if they have the fighters Megamix mode change.

    Probably wont happen though.

I'm not sure if those were from Tekken; those seem like obvious choices for a 3D-fighter, especially one centered around frame advantages and disadvantages. If there were no whiffed throw animations, it could be abused, execution time is just as obvious, but you might be right about the low punch, I never really paid attention to that quirk in Tekken.

Even though VF will always be my #1 you gotta admit that tekken at least has characters with personalites and somewhat of a storyline if it has nothing else going for it (which it doesn't). /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif I mean, look at Jeffery, He needs money to catch a fish, doesn't, needs more money for something else in order to catch a fish, and still doesn't catch the fish, and what's all the J6 talk in the instruction manual? Kinda seemed to come out of nowhere. Not that a fighter needs a great story but if you got the best fighting system for an arcade fighter why not back it up with something?

And don't get me started with the voice acting, Miiight makes riiiiiiiiiiiiiight!

Personally, I hate Tekken's character cast(and the character designs) and its plothole ridden storyline(although it's not like people play fighting games for story anyways). Xiaoyu is an annoying, immature, little brat who constantly stalks her emo, angsty, jerk of a boyfriend Jin, who is now evil just like his father(who's also emo and angsty)and grandfather(who seriously needs to be killed off). Asuka is an annoying, brash, arrogant, and incest little brat who has a rivalry with another annoying brat(who is a spoiled, rich brat). And the animal characters are completely useless and stupid(in both gameplay-wise and storyline-wise). As for the rest of the cast, I'm not even going to go there. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/sick.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif

By the way, the characters of Virtua Fighter DO have personalites(Jacky being brash, cocky, and confident; Sarah being cocky, arrogant, and confident; Lion being cocky and arrogant; etc.).

i think it's going vice versa. both titles copy from each other. and you know what, that's good. this way both titles keep the high standard of fighting gameplay they always had.

As much as I like Virtua Fighter series, you truly cannot say that VF characters have personalities. They really dont. In fact, they lay the quotes and lines so thick that each character just seems fake.

Kazama Asuka, Kazama Jin, Ling Xiaoyu, Mishima Kazuya etc. have fairly decent personalities. As much to VF fans dismay, Tekken is extremely popular because of the motley assortment of characters and a reletive ease into the game.

Sega isn't realizing that new gamers are coming and that many of their hardcore VF supporters are getting older. I know VF fans like how they keep VF for hardcores but that will cause the downfall of Sega. Just look at Nintendo. Wii is as popular as when Pokemon first came out. It is the age of the Wii-craze. Why you might ask? Because they are trying to appeal to a broader audience. Tekken series and the Soul Calibur series does the same. Hardcores act like broadining a game reduces its value but in essence, it actually increases.

Oh, and story in fighting games are important, to a lesser degree than the actual gameplay, but nevertheless important. Endings are important too. Thought I'd just put that out there.

Exactly! And VF1/VF2 didn't have those "obvious" features that's why they were such broken games. When these "obvious" features were introduced from Tekken to VF a lot of VF2 players (including me) actually hated them first. Eventually people accepted and adapted however.

Also, IMO VF5's new "throw clash" system is a half-way compromise between VF's traditional "strike always beats throw" system and Tekken's "depends on frame" system. Not exactly a copy from Tekken but getting a little bit closer.

If I want a story or endings, I'll go play an RPG or Strategy game. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

My first VF game was VF4. And when I played that game, I was like WTF are the character cutscenes? Now I see that there are none.

I prefer VF over Tekken, but I think Tekken's fighters are cooler. And I think they have more swagger about them. VF's fighting system is unmatched, but the characters lack personality when compared to Tekken.

If Tekken came up with a better recovery system to the fighting it would be a way better game. I'm not saying it would be better then VF, but it would make Tekken better if they didn't make it so hard to recovery after being knocked down.

Wait till VF introduces wavedashing and electric wind godfists .Technically VF has an awesome fighting system which cant be accessed online because of lag but tekken has a way more forgiving system which can be utilised online watch this

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMzqAZKSmQE

watch the beginning of the second match where i DF2 and EWGF launcher online .Now i must admit that my favourite move is kazuya doryaa and teekn has more satisfying juggles and with the introduction of walls makes wall splats more satisfying than in VF

    Tekken doesn't work online either.

The ground game in Tekken is more in depth then VF. You need to learn what kind of guessing games there is when you rise up, once you do you'll learn how to rise up safer.

Can we just end the 'Tekken's characters have personality. Virtua Fighter's characters don't.' discussion? It's making me sick and feel bad. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

By the way, I totally despise Tekken's character designs/moves . They look like they were thought up by a crackhead. And don't even get me started on its gameplay. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/sick.gif

I generally like to keep my mouth shut. But I haven't been on VFDC and I swear I've already seen 500,000 Tekken vs. VF Thread. How about we just let it go. Who really cares?

Yes...I realize that merely by posting in this thread I am a hypocrite.

Oh I don't know about that. Read the okizime/ground recovery FAQs to see just how in-depth VF gets. Its just not particularly relevant until you hit high-level play. Tekken ground recovery is OTG and a sliver of Yomi. Its not deep at all, trust me.

I disagree. You can do a lot of different moves on the ground on Tekken which is true, but it's so easy to juggle when an opponent is laying on the ground that all those moves don't matter in most cases. I like how VF makes fighters do specific ground attacks when their opponent is laying flat on the ground. Tekken, you can continuously spam a certain combo and it will juggle an opponent who is laying flat and not moving at all.

    "Trust me"

    LOL

That's the thing. It's not easy to juggle someone who has control and knowledge of these situations.

On a different note, Tekken and VF will NOT join together for a all-in-one game because of many reasons, but I think this is the most reasonable of all:

In Tekken there are no RING OUTs, all stages are closed or infinite!

  19. KiwE

    KiwE Well-Known Member

Wallhit is basicly the same as a ring out though.

When the stage is closed in VF, yes it is the same as Tekken. What I'm saying is that in Tekken there are no open rings. If the opponent "leaves" the ring in Tekken, it's just a wallhit, no round point against who left the ring.
