Is VF really dead though? LA said that VF fans are the only people keeping Sega's gaming arcades in business. I wouldn't call VF quite dead just yet. To me dead implies that arcade operators are clearing their VF units out because nobody is playing the machines. Now when SSFIV drops, and eventually TTT2, in Japanese arcades, there will likely be a major decline in people regularly playing VF in Japanese arcades.

If VF truly dies in arcades then maybe Sega will give it new life on consoles.[IMG]
Not only is SFIV doing well (for major arcades anyways) but ST and 3S are having a small renaissance in Japan right now because of the Danisen Ranking Battles. Shinya Ohnuki in particular has been rallying the communities for the older SF games like crazy since SFIV came out and he's been very successful. While I don't really agree with how Arcadia does its monthly rankings we've seen both SFIII:3rd and SSFIIX in the top ten now and those games are pretty old.

It is really is pathetic that this is the 'new age of fighters' and Sega is running VF into the ground during it.

Lol what basis was 'VF dead in Japan' based on?

And congrats to Tekken fans. Hopefully this TTT won't be as runaway as the first and it'll be amazing as a result. Though we did know about this nearly 6+ months ago lol.

Sidestep and backdash were a lot better in the original Tekken Tag but all stages were infinite too. There was no bound either and the tagging feature was more limited compared to how it looks here.

    Great quote from Harada
As we announced, it will see an arcade release first. That's where most of our efforts are focused on at the moment. But that being said, we do want to provide a chance for all of our fans abroad to be able to enjoy the game. That's about all I can say at this point.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">What do you think about the recent resurgence of fighting games, with titles like BlazBlue, Street Fighter and such?

Well, this is something that I've said before continuously. The Tekken series, if you look at it alone, each installment in the console versions sell about five million copies lifetime, and has continued for about fifteen years now. Plus the income from the arcades haven't really dropped off at all for the Tekken series in general. From our standpoint, it's not like anything has really changed much. The one thing that is noticeable perhaps is that other series, like Street Fighter IV coming back after a blank of about ten years or so, Mortal Kombat is starting to come back. I think that's where some of the changes are occurring, rather than us. We've been rather constant.</div></div>

I give Harada props for calling it how he sees it in that interview. They have all seen console releases as well.

    No troll.

I heard that Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will have character customization and unfortunately the bound system from Tekken 6.

No surprises then. There were bounds in the trailer and it'd be pretty silly to take customisation away from the game.

    Thats it.
At this point I just want SEGA to announce no VF6 so I can just switch to tekken.

Or you could just continue to play VF5. Not much wrong with it, you know.

but theres no future to it.
no new updates. the imbalances you know are there are gonna stick there forever.
you know eventually the series WILL die out, and all the skills you learned will go to waste.
instead why not learn a game that HAS a future. That you know will hopefully/probably improve over time and where your skill will mean something for longer.

but I will def play as long as I can I guess.
and DEF stick with this community :p

Because i don't search for meaning in the games i play. The games don't need a future or to change over time. They only need to be fun for me to play them. For me VF is more fun that other fighting games so i play it the most.

VF5 already more balanced than most fighting games and balance doesn't seem to be a priority for capcom. Namco do an amazing job imo but it's very hard with that amount of characters. There is nothing to say that Tag will be more balanced than T6BR. Infact, until i've played it, i've no reason to believe FS is more balanced than vanilla. The difference between Lau or Akira and Jeff in FS looks bigger than the difference between Lei and Lion in Vanilla.

I agree, so far there is no indication that FS is either a better game than Vanilla or a more balanced one.

I know, I know, I havent played R or FS, so I am not in a position to make an informed, empirical, judgement.

But balance-wise Vanilla is up there. I cant think of many other games more balanced? I know I hate Shun and Lei and Eileen for their seemingly broken stuff (FLAME ON!) but there is no indication that FS Shun/Ei/Akira are less overpowered.

Finally, on a sad note, I must point out to Sharp7 that he forgets that everything eventually dies out and whatever you learned in this life eventually will fade into nothing. So accordingly, enjoy what makes you happy right now, cause there is no guarantee that you will be here tomorrow.

You tell me what it is and i'll tell you how to beat it. I'm sure shun users will offer the same. You'll find no help for Lei though. He's well and truely broken. *Insert troll face*[/size]

The crasiet character in FS from what i can see is Lau. Stupid damage off everything. Shun is nuts as well.

Because of the mid combo switch, i can see every character in Tag 2 being insane. In my mind i'm seeing stupid stuff like a completely safe fast combo starter from Steve, then the switch to Bruce for his ridiculous wall carry, then back to Steve for massive combo damage.

I like the new stages, and are the new graphics better or worse, they still look nice either way

Graphical spec doesn't look to be raised (which would be hard considering they have to accommodate twice as many characters in memory), but pumping up the color contrast gives it a different look.

Plus Tekken isn't that ugly to begin with.
