Wanna know what game I couldn't care less about right now?

    Tekken Tag 2.

FS is about to drop, this thread should be ashamed of itself.

Gernburgs, we all know you'll get it anyway and really like it for about 3 weeks or so. Why do this to yourself? [IMG]

If VF flops here, I'll have the choice of either quitting offline play entirely, or learning Persona/TTT2. So I have to hold some interest. (I can't see myself playing anything else in September, not even KOF)

At least VF has three months to win people over.

Since many regulars of VFDC are interested and have already bought this game. I will try to get you people started with the introduction of overall system and basic gameplan.

Tekken, in essence, is a completely different game from VF with heavy emphasis on movement/spacing and okizeme along with mid/low mixup. Attacks do not have innate priority over throws and throws do not usually track sidestep.

    Movement Tutorials:

There are also more advance and character-specific tutorials available, but it will be too overwhelming and is completely unnecessary at the current stage. If you have any generic questions, I will try my best to help but as we all are already aware: www.TekkenZaibatsu.com is the best place to access myriads of Tekken related information with a lot more active players/posters.

Good stuff on the videos man, I feel so lost in this game, and I've always played Tekken. Just not seriously.

How are you guys holding the stick (pause) when you're playing this? I'm having a rough time incorporating the TAG button with how my finger placement is.

Right now I have my index on LK, my middle finger on LP and my ring finger on RP. So that leaves me with my pinky to hit the tag button if I don't move my fingers from that position.

    Any suggestions?

Suggestion, get the HitBox. They have a movement tutorial on the front page of SRK with it. If I.didn't think this game was so gross, I would get one.

I'm not going to give up on it just yet. My movement sucks in this game. I've been practicing some of the techniques in the videos, so hopefully I get my shit together.

Just played a couple of hours...and hmmm...just feels low quality. I use to be very into Tekken when I was younger, now it just seems kind of silly to me.
One thing I was wondering about is why are some of the standard animations (i.e. walking back, jump punch) still looking like they are recycled from T2...really robotic and unnatural.
Graphics are not impressive and the gameplay feels a bit silly but somewhat fun. I'll give it a couple more days before I call it quits.

You have to backdash cancel to get moving in this game. It's different that VF. Check out this video explaining it...

Here's another one going over wavedashing

The movement isn't stiff in the game, it's just harder to master.

Tnx a lot KillaKen for the tip, but I'm pretty well acquainted with Tekken movement :)
...I'm working on speeding up my wave-dash / EWGFs with the Mishimas right now.

I was just critisizing the lack of attention to standard animation. For me it's a turn off, as it tells me that Namco is not as caring about the series. It's the 9th Tekken game and these things are still not updated :S

I can't help but smile at the irony of a VF fan being turned off by recycled animations/sounds. :)

If you can play VF, and get folks to play it- you should only be playing Tekken if you like it, not force yourself into it. Forcing yourself into a game is just a recipe for salt.

I give everything a chance, but 90% of games fail that chance.

Tekken strings eat vf strings for brunch. Its important to learn where the gaps are for each character. And the game has ALOT of characters. Eddy and zaf are pretty much kryptonite to me

Launchers are generally 15f. Crouching in the open can be risky.

Learn what your standing punishers and while rising punishers are to discourage your opponent from abusing moves.

Also low parry when you know a low is coming, usually in strings. Theres alot of low mid/
mid low strings; inexsistent in vf (cept for jean) If you dont low parry out, you can get put into a bad situation.

Yea man, the number of characters in the game is nuts. I never got into Tekken deep, but I'm going to try and understand this one.

This game has a lot of shit going on and a lot of complicated things to remember. The Tag element just adds to it. My main issue is just feeling helpless, lol. I don't know when to start attacking. I suck at evading
