Do you, all, really think that VF is defined as what has been described here?

But, for me, I have no problems in playing VF since I started to... And VFs combos are very original... Not floating as high as the airplanes above us and doesn't make awful combos that are infinitely done until the life bar is empty... well, that's my own understanding... that's how i enjoy a game... and that's what i like. Well its obvious, but all I know is:
    Law - Bruce Lee
    Paul - Chuck Norris
Eddy Gordo - Lateef Crowder (Capoeirista in Tom Yum Goong)
Baek - Dae Han Park (Best of the Best)
Lei - Jacky Chan (of course)
    Feng Wei - Bolo Yeung
Christie - J-Lo in T4 then in T5 was modeled after Vida Guerra
    Craig Marduk - Goldberg
    etc...

But whatever with all of that, fighting games and other genres rip other games/movies/tv shows off...

Anyway, wouldn't Akira be squared off against Kazuya, since they're both the "poster boys" of their respective game??? Law vs Jacky, Yoshimitsu vs Kage, and Bryan Fury vs Vanessa would be better matchups also...

Uhm Lateef played Eddy Gordo in the movie. Eddy Gordo however was NOT modeled off of Lateef Crowder. Lateef wasn't even semi famous back then.

Yeah Lateef was modeled after Eddy.

I was just speaking in reference to Tekken characters and who they ripped off...

Lateef was the only Capoeirista that was really doing anything... To my knowledge, he's still not really famous... Most cats know him as that "Capoeira guy"... Alot of people don't know he did stunts also...

Jinx: My point is Lateef wasn't really known by anybody back
when Tekken 3 was developed. I've played Lateef in capoeira.
(I'm an instructor for those that don't know) Lateef is 1 year
    younger than me.

    He was born in 1977.
Tekken 3 was released in 1997.

The Protector the movie that got Lateef recognized at all was
released in 2005. Before then Lateef was just playing capoeira
like any other capoeirista. (and attending stunt school) Dude
just has a look and family already involved in Hollywood. He
didn't even do Eddys Motion Capture.

To say Eddy Gordo is based off a likely 17 year old unknown
Lateef? (taking game development time into consideration.
Nah. A lot of capoeira people look like Eddy. I'd go as far
as too say Eddys probably the only character that's not
    directly designed off anybody.

Not hating on dude, he found his way in Hollywood, but it
    doesn't add up.

Yeah I hear you... I probably meant the "generic look" but he was the first cat that came to mind...

If you look at the face, you'll notice alot of similarities... In T4, they drew a pic of Christie playing the bongos, and there's a pic of JLo doing the exact same pose. Every detail was similar, even in the face and hairstyle.

Seeing as back then it seemed like NAMCO couldn't tell the difference between Brazilians and Latinos/Hispanics (like Eddy's last name meaning "fat" in Spanish but is from Brazil) they took inspiration from anyone who was Latino/Hispanic even though there's a difference (a game magazine but them on blast about that long ago).

Either way, I can't knock them for their marketing technique.

IMDB's list of voice actors for VF5 is wrong.

    Wakamoto Norio never did Kage.

Kage has always been voiced by Mitsuyoshi Takenobu, who is not a voice actor but a member of Sega's sound team. He composed some of the tracks in VF, and is best known for composing and singing the theme for Daytona USA. He is also responsible for the 2nd opening theme for the VF anime and the voice behind GAME OVER YEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHH.

The only time Kage was voiced by a professional voice actor was in VF2, but due to complaints from fans, they put Mitsuyoshi back in the role from VF3. Mitsuyoshi also voiced Akira in VF1.

Aoi is voiced by Kumagaya Nina, not Horie Yui. Kumagaya is a very much less known voice actor.

Akira has been voiced by Miki Shinichirou since VF2. He's a popular voice actor well known for playing suave ladie's man roles, and appears in many girl's dating games. More recently he's been in Gundam 00 as Lockon Stratos. He can also do macho voices like Akira.

Pai was voiced by Iwao Junko in VF2 and Takayama Minami from VF3 onwards. Iwao has done mostly girly girl roles such as Tomoyo from Card Captor Sakura. Takayama Minami is famous for voicing Detective Conan, and being the lead singer for Two-Mix, which did the theme music for Gundam Wing.

Lau is voiced by Chiba Shigeru, a veteran voice actor who has moved on to voice director role in many newer anime. He did the narration on Fist of The North Star TV series. His list of roles is ridiculously long.

Goh is voiced by Seki Toshihiko, another veteran voice actor who usually puts on a much more nasal voice. He was Iruka in Naruto, and had many lead roles in 80's anime. His list of roles is also ridiculously long.

    Coolness...

Miki is most known for the roles of Kojiro ("James") (Pokémon), Takumi Fujiwara ("Tak") (Initial D), Kisuke Urahara (Bleach), Inferno in the Japanese dub of Beast Wars, Akira Yuki (Virtua Fighter), Lockon Stratos (Mobile Suit Gundam 00), and Roy Mustang (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood).

It could be awesome. Yeah, VF is already mixing up with DOA, and it's better VFxTK than VFxDOA.

I hate to be less optimistic about this subject than others, example- i like street fighter and i like tekken, but i didnt like streetfighter x tekken, but great idea. I think Tecmo is making a good decision of featuring VF characters in DOA5. If the next Tekken features VF characters i would pick it up. If the next VF features tekken characters ill definitely pick it up without a doubt, but I am done with the crosses and Vs. (fuck that shit).
