The 5th Event: Homestay & Kyasao in NY - June 4 - 6

I've done it - hop on the Long Island Rail. The Hotel is in Riverhead, which is the last stop. If you're arriving in China Town, I'd suggest getting to either the Port Authority or Jamaica Station and get on the train. If memory serves me right, you can also get off at Speonk (sp?) which is no more than a 10 minute drive to the hotel.

Adam should be able to give you more details.

Sorry i haven't updated here much. My job relocated me to a hotel in NJ for a couple of weeks.

That is actually good news. Ok....

Everyone will play - casual play and tournament - at VithDos's Game Cafe free-of-charge. From what i hear, it is teh hotness, as we can have a lot of setups.

The hotel where i am working and staying/sleeping at is 10-15 minutes from the venue. So is Vith Dos's house. If people need a place to sleep/rest, they can either crash in my hotel room OR crash at Vith Dos's place.

If it gets too crowded (in my hotel room) for some peoples' tastes, i can get another hotel room at an employee rate ($59 per night for a room with Queen bed & pull-out sofabed). But, i repeat, you are more than welcome to crash in my room or Vith Dos's place for free.

Now, for those who haven't booked air tix yet, please fly into Newark Airport. This airport is located in New Jersey and is 15 minutes by car/cab ride from my hotel, the game cafe, and Vith Dos's crib.

For those wondering how to get to this location in Jersey from NYC, public transportation is VERY simple and CHEAP. All peeps need to do is take the A train all the way uptown to 175th Street (George Washington Bridge Terminal). From there, they can follow signs to the terminal, where they will catch one of the local third-party (not "official" NJ transit) buses going over the bridge into Jersey. My hotel is literally 2 minutes from the bridge (one of the very first stops the bus makes) and the stop for the cafe and Vith's place is not too much further from my stop. These cheap/third-party/low budget vans or mini-buses cost about $2 each way (going into NYC and coming out to Jersey).

Shou...I know you flying into NYC, so you may have to grab a hold of Shota and Hiro as they will be coming from the city that night as well. You guys can all come together to either the hotel where i am staying/working OR to the game cafe. We can have setups at either location for Friday night. On Saturday, we can all meet up at the game cafe and RUMBLE...

Hello everyone forgive my tardyness!

My cafe is located in North Jersey, 15 minutes from the GWB. The adress is 40 West Palisades Avenue Englewood NJ . As AdamYuki said its really easy to get there. Just take bus 178 to the train tracks on Palisades Avenue and walk down the hill till you see wendy's on your right side. The place is right next to a video game store just walk up the steps and enter room 203. EASY!

So to recap :

from GWB Bus terminal 178 --- > Palisades Ave. ---> Door next to video game store ----> Up the steps and down the hall to room 203.

About those not staying at the hotel and wanna crash at my house (which is a 5 min walk from the store) please PM me as space is limited!

We got 10 tv's but only 5 ps2's and 2 copies of Virtua Fighter. If you can please bring a marked copy of Evo (or even a system) just to make sure we have as many set ups as possible!

The cafe is available 24 hours a day that weekend. When we not there we proably be , sleeping, seeing sights, or chillen at the hotel.

 

Hey Tianyuan2k2, I'm definitely going. I'll be leaving the city early probably around 5PM or 6PM Friday. I've been trying to sneak in as much extra practice as possible since last week.

I'm not sure if I'm ready for Homestay Akira or Rodney for that matter /versus/images/graemlins/crazy.gif , but I do know at least one person will soon come to know in the most dire of manner my pad skill(z) as it calls forth one DLC float combo after the other /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I'll be in the city for more practice on a stick so I'll be lurking around CTF around 7 or 8 PM from basically everyday except Friday (although if any body wants make the commute with me I'll stop by at 4PM for a very brief practice session.

 

4pm... how about 3 pm tomorrow? I can play for an hour...

I will try to go to CTF this Thursday night...

I will go to the cafe this friday afternoon. Hopefully I will see someone there...

I will be at the cafe tomorrow at around 7-7:30pm. I need to know who is driving in - as help with transportation may be needed. Everything is withing 10-15 minutes drive.

I stop playing Evo over at CF for a couple months, and I decide to check up here, and sure enough, there's an EVENT going. I haven't played in forever, but I'm sure as hell going to come by and give it a shot.

None!! Jerky seemed pretty sure he won't make it because of work, so you may want to rub that in, and as far as I know, Shang isn't going either, and others will be in Cali.
