The 5th Event: Homestay & Kyasao in NY - June 4 - 6

I'm leaving in a little. Hoping not to get lost. Gonna bring a PS2 (mod), Evo, and an Evo stick.

If any of you NY guys who are gonna be there know me, I used to play a lot of Aoi over at CTF. I've been warming up on the PS2 but I'm still rusty as hell. I figure this is as good a chance as any to get back into Evo.

 

Im heading up after I get out of work... Ill prolly arrive around 11ish and Im bring up my spare nam stick just in case were short handed

I just want to say this was the most fun Ive had playing a fighter in a long while.

Thanks to Vith for hosting and Adam for getting everything together.

This whole event changed my outlook on alot of things and you can all expect to see me around CTF and other gatherings alot more /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

 

I also wanted to thank Adam,Kyasao,Homestay,and Vith for making this hang out session possible. The vibe was mellow and the action hot.

Hey everyone! Pad Soldier Vith Dos here, rocking the end and cleaning up the debris! Sorry it took so long to update on the event. Busy Busy.

I hope thats everyone! It was an awesome event and I'm Ultra happy it was held at my cafe! My thanks goes out to all who attended.

Most Memorable moments :

Cruz and my friend Necro riding in the back of my truck at 5am, due to lack of car space.

Interviewing the tetsujins with Kazu translating.

Rodney freezing up in one of his matches and me shouting "RODNEY WHAT THE FACK!"

In the Lion voice to Bibilus after his winning streak was ended "ITS A MATTER OF COURSE, YOU'RE GONNA LOSE!"

Most interesting matches :

Kyasao : P\/\/NED . ROFL Just kidding. But I did knock him off the stick the one match I played him in. That was cool.

RheinAoi on pad : Weeeee!

Homestay Akira : WTF, throw, single palm, wall, knee, DEAD! it was an awesome 5 - 0 match, but I think i showed him something new with my pad skillz.... yeah....

NYC Crew : Awesome matches with all the good CTF'ers and Adam Yuki as usual.

Ghetto Shun : I point him out specifically cuz he just womped me with Vanessa. She's my worst charry to fight. I want to play you sometime so I can learn some tricks against her man!

SiYko : Awesome matches. Your Kage is strong. I must learn to TE better.

Smurf : Its always fun playing Smurf, even if he is a pad TRAITER!

Bibilus : Makes me hate lion more and more every time I play him! Keep training dude and give these VF heads some SC goodness....

Everyone else : I'm too lazy to remember all my matches, but I had fun playing everyone.

Lastly

I hope everyone had a good time, and that my cafe was up to the prestige of having such great players come to play. I put the air conditiners up today BTW... Anyways, I hope all the VF tournaments in the north east are held there from now on! I always welcome VF!
As for the DVD's once I get the time to capture everything and start working on it, I'll post some updates about when and how to purchase them .

Again, thanks a lot all for coming! Its gatherings like these that make VF worth playing for years and years.

I think its time for props. I wasnt sure if you VF guys were into the whole giant post and give props to everyone.

Vith: Thanks again for hosting... and next time in tourney use AKIRA! You should have noticed that I never ONCE broke that catch throw thing you were using and I am weak vs Akira in general. Next time we play remind me to teach you l33t pre tourney tactics. Give me a buzz anytime your down for some games and Ill be at your spot before you know it.

NY:
Adam: I still dont think weve ever played. But tons of props to organizing this and other gatherings. If you ever need help running anything let me know.

Nelson: I was SOOOO hoping we would keep the 5 on 5 going with a RR so I could face off vs you. I guess itll have to wait till a CTF session.

Cruz: Close like OMG! That tourney match was played right to the hilt and I really thought you had me in the end. Until next time keep up the good work.

Rodney: Nice tourney match. All I have to say is if thats how you play when you choke I need to catch up with you in casual for a session. There is probably alot I could learn from playing you

Kazu: Damn Im glad I didnt beat rodney in tourney because playing a good Lau for the first time in tourney would have made me look so bad its not even funny. Thanks for putting up with a scrub like me for a little while because I really needed the exposure.

ReinAoi: Ill get you next time... and stick with a stick

Other guys:
Dude from boston with the MT shirt: I really need find a way to get mordak into VF seriously and get him to goto boston. You guys must have been separated at birth or somthing.

Ryan: I doubt youll read this but in any event I took alot away from that beating you gave me. Next time were gonna have to play some TTT.

Kyasao: Another guy who owned me horribly. Weak vs kage at this gathering was like owned all over the place.

Finally: I hope we can get more events at Vith's spot because it felt like a lack of tourney experience was VERY present, and this seems like an ideal place to hold regular events (IE monthly or maybe even bi-weekly tourney's) and in SC2 the areas with regular toruney's are 90% of the time stronger then the ones that dont. I could go on for hours with stories at this point but I doubt anyone wants to hear them. If you actually do feel free to look me up but its doubtful

PS - I really wish I could have gotten the tetsujin's to somehow record minami akira's hands in a match. Just so I could show the pad users what they are missing out on, because it seems like they ALL play akira.

Hi all, I had a great time at this event. Watching in person (and playing against!) the tetsujins was a wonderful experience, and I'm glad so many other US players were there, ready to play, and as always nice.

To all those I met and played with, I'm glad we got a chance to meet. Although I have only been to a couple gatherings, I have still not met a fellow player who wasn't nice in real live.

Special thanks to Vith for hosting the event, housing some players, and supplying us with a great place to play, Adam for getting Kyasao and Homestay down and loaning out his hotel room (although I still can only imagine the room filled with that many people), Kyasao and Homestay for coming and being very friendly and polite, and Ryan for coming on what I understand was complete last minute whim.

My only reget about it was that we never got a chance to just hang out for dinner or something (although I left early sunday and may have missed it...), but all in all it was a great experience.

btw bibilus that was me - the only other white guy =P

Yes Bibulus was the name I couldnt remember before. Thanks for the team effort Bibulus, it was great to watch Bibilus beat down 3 team members single handedly. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks for the compliment... but I attribute it to having more tourney experience then the people I beat in most cases. I still have a long way to go before I catch up with most of you guys... but I like it like that /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif
