    quality event.

although sadly the ufc's no upset streak ends at 32 fights with cote > grove.

I called the Couture fight EXACTLY as I called it...though I am not sure if there should be a head butt ruling.

yeah that Cote Grove fight was the only one I called wrong /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif ,
good fights all round, Huerta and Gsp (again) especially impressive.

there's nothing you can do about that headbutt since it did not produce an injury that threatened to end the fight. now, if he headbutted gonzaga which opened a cut above his eye which stopped the fight, that would be a NC. otherwise, fight continues. incidental head to head contact is tough balls.

"there's nothing you can do about that headbutt since it did not produce an injury that threatened to end the fight"

Gonzaga claimed he couldn't see as a result of his broken nose from the accidental head clash. How is that not an injury that threatened to end the fight?

I reckon Herb Dean should've called the fight over when Gonzaga said that - but that would of pissed off a lot of fans. Though it didn't make much difference anyway.

Herb was ready to call it but Gonzaga said he could still fight. The head clash was obviously accidental and a broken nose takes a lot of the fight out of you quickly, especially when you're trying to breath through your mouth, around blood, and getting tagged in the face by Couture.

The clash sucked but, honestly, I didn't see any other outcome for Gonzaga. Randy shook off his kicks and kept looking for the clinch where Gonzaga had no real response.

and hey, Randy broke his arm during that fight!

Upon further review...it was the slam that caused the headbutt - but Gonzaga was holding onto the fence which changed the way he came down. The moment that Gonzaga bitched, the fight should of been stopped - it would of saved Gonzaga a lot of damage.

Gonzaga got his nose broken by his own knee on the way down not a head-but, watch the replay.

yea there seems to be a little dispute on this.

even though randy said after the fight it was his own head, this was information fed to him by joe rogan. it's very difficult to see on the camera angle so i guess we'll never know.

but yes, even if it was the headbutt, gonzaga was holding the fence.

hahaha...Anybody catch art of war yesterday? Man, Monson really just forgot he is a grappler...but he did bang up Pedro pretty bad. I also just now feel sorry for Jeremy Horn. I just feel that he has squandered his talent fighting so much instead of only fighting quality opponents. It was a nice triangle though!

only caught the monson v rizzo fight, but it seems monson was doing well standing got overconfident perhaps and forgot to play to his strengths /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif
His shoots looked a bit sluggish as well when he did decide to try for the takedown, probably due the prolonged standup.
Krav maga ep was ******* awesome too /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

you never in a million years will see a striker try to outgrapple a grappler, yet for some reason grapplers think it's ok to strike with strikers. monson probably did train his standup and was confident in it, and believed if things weren't working out on the feet, he could take the fight to the ground. the problem is after a few good rizzo low kicks he had nothing left.

the event was ok overall. rinaldi/waterman was pretty insane, and i fucking hate mauro ranallo so much.
