I've seen Smith fight - that's what I meant about them feeding him to Le. his style was a match made for Le's skill set. I was more than happy to see Strikeforce get effed on this matchup. Good on Smith.

Aoki has no sportsmanship. Also a lot of terrible stoppages last night, IMO.

Bad stoppages/unsportsmanlike conduct aside it was a solid event.

Aoki us number one for sure.

I disagree with that statement because I don't think he'd beat BJ Penn.

Aoki's strengths lie in his ground and submission skills. BJ Penn has world class take down defense and jujitsu, amongst the best in the sport.

BJ also has a very crisp stand up game. I don't think Aoki would be able to do anything to Penn quite honestly.

I usually don't watch or care about these events but I watched this one and I have to say Shinya Aoki is my new favorite fighter. : )

Aoki is surely up there but I really don't see him beating BJ. If the fight ever happened, I would predict BJ would keep it standing and stuff the takedowns most the time.
As much as I think BJ is a world class whiner, I also think hes the best at 155. In the past few years, hes only had trouble with people heavier than him.

I was a BIG Pride fan.. So Im glad I now have Sengoku and Dream to watch. I like it much more than UFC.

Plus having the shows free on HDNET helps [IMG]

    Shinya Aoki post fight apology
    http://mmahits.com/news/shinya-aoki-post-fight-apology/

"...When I had his arm behind his back, I could feel it popping. I thought, ‘Well, this guy’s pride just won’t let him tap, will it?’ So without hesitation, I broke it. I heard it break, and I thought, ‘Ah, there, I just broke it.’ I was stopped afterward, but even if I hadn’t been, continuing to break it more would have been fine by me..."

    Hirota deserved the broken arm.

Hirota deserved it, but Aoki did not have to be a prick afterward.

How does ANYBODY see Aoki finishing Penn? Submission? Pfft. Stand up? Penn would turn Aoki into dog meat before it ever hit the mat.

The Juvenile Kyoshin (sp?) fights were awesome. Talk about leaving it all in the ring. They all get mad respect from me.

Talk about things not working as planned. Iishi got a rude awakening to mma and Souer learned that not everybody looses in their last match.

yeah. I heard there was some bad blood at the pre-fight but I dunno - I tend to stay clear of that stuff. I'm sure his adrenalin was running high when he realized Hirota was unwilling to tap and he finished the fight the way he had to.
