Exactly. Another aspect where Mir is delusional (in addition to many) is that he thought by bulking up to 265 he was gonna be avoid getting muscled by large wrestlers like Brock and Cariwn. Carwin beat the shit out of him almost exactly the same way brock did cept it was standing rather than in side control. Putting on 30 pounds all of a sudden doesnt mean you are gonna be able to fight the same way as if you naturally weight that much. DOH!

 

excellent point LA. Actually i just wanted carwain to win cause i was getting tired of hearing mir talk about lesnar in all his interviews. WTF, you are getting ready to fight someone not named lesnar, maybe u should focus on him? Then carwain jackhammered his face. Man, mir is making a habit of getting his face smashed. He is just not on those guys level right now. In my opinion.

Anyone else think maybe GSP coulda broke hardy's arm in the 1st round but is too nice a guy so he didn't. I thought on both submissions GSP let up cause he didn't wanna injure hardy, and then looked disappointed in himself for doing so. I also predict, that when criticism of his lack of killer instinct gets sufficiently called out, he will begin to view it as something he can "improve" like he views his other mixed martial artist skills, and he will finally turn a corner in it. Hopefully.

P.S. How do u guys feel about him going 185? I'm nervous about it. It makes me nervous. I really like GSP. I don't think he'd dominate it like he does 170lb. But at the same time, idk, i think he'd be good enough to compete for the title at it. His takedowns are that good. Honestly, i think his stand up is good enough too, even tho he doesn't seem to like to stand up anymore (he seems scared of getting caught again )

 

GSP walks around 190 something, so the cut would be easier, but he could find himself in the ring with people weighing 200+ lbs. That can really be tough.

This was my initial reaction as well (I was at the fight), but at the same time, I can't blame him for not wanting to release the sub prematurely. There is more than one fighter who uses "phantom taps" as a way to get out of subs.

I honestly don't think Palhares was trying to hurt Drwal.

 

Yeah, Carwin pretty much destroyed Mir. Mir has gotta be done after that, he's just not on the same level anymore after losing. I seriously think his mental game will be done for after the beating Carwin gave him, I'd quit if I were him. I wouldn't be rearing to jump in the ring and get bubbled like that again.

LA is right, Frank Mir is completely delusional and needs to chill with his pre-fight "trash talking". He tries to be all eloquent and descriptive about the pain he's going to inflict and how he wants to literally "kill" his opponent. Then he gets in the ring and has to put his money where his mouth is and then gets clobbered. Good old ass-bettin' Frank Mir...

After Carwin severely mishandled Mir, I was thinking that no mortal man could watch that beat down and NOT be afraid to step in the ring with him. But when Brock did get in there, he's so damn HUGE I started thinking that Carwin would actually still have to be afraid of Brock no matter what. Lesnar is just herculean, he's a giant among men. I still don't think anyone can beat him, he's just too big. He has to cut weight to get to 265?!? Come on man, how are you going to stop him???

 

Palhares was a complete fucking prick. Slow reffing or not, dude tapped a TON. His entire career could be fucked.

anyone watching TUF? looks like a great season as far as fighters are concerned. really nice opening episode, some great striking.

And once again it looks like the toughest job on TUF is being a door.

 

You know, I've done a little research on the casting process and there is a huge amount of B.S.
Robert Drysdale was cut after raping all the people he was paired up with. Rhadi Furgeson was also dropped. 2 of my friends tried out, beat everybody they were matched with, and cut.
It really seems they are looking for wrestler/strikers.

 

I wouldn't doubt that, I also wouldn't doubt that they were looking for "personalities" to fill out the drama quotient for the show.

The sad thing is that Dana/ufc has no say in the fighters, it's Spike that chooses who passes to that first show. That alone is going to cause some bullshit.
