I'm surprised that fighters can choose not to fight and avoid violating their contract in some way.

it happens all the time and so far Dana/UFC has been accommodating but honestly I think they need to cut that out.

go Dos Santos. I have the feeling that after this loss, Brock won't be back.

Man, Jones is da truf. Brandon Vera but with for real ability and work ethic. I almost got kicked out of the bar that night.

Off to Jersey on Saturday to see Fedor smash big foot.

I think Brock will grind out a win on Dos santos

Brock isn't allowed to get hit during training.

He is going up against the most dangerous striker in the UFC heavyweight division.

    GG.

He hasn't made it official yet but with the way that M-1 ran business when it came to him actually fighting... maybe it's for the best.
I'm not even sure if the Fedor of old coulda beat Bigfoot. The guy has a steel chin and is not just big, he's strong also. Only guy I see taking out Bigfoot is Overeem.
Sucks that we may never get to see Ubereem fight The Last Emperor.

    +1

Fedor had fear/doubt written all over his face even before he got into the cage.

Now that Fedor has "tentatively" announced that he is retired, will UFC be sorry they never had him? (This question is based on a similar comment that Fedor made last year).

Yeah I know the comment you're talking about.

It was dumb then and it's dumb now.

Many athletes that were at the top of their art at one point ever get to leave on a high note. It usually takes the realization that they've lost the magic or are passed their prime to realize its time to hang it up. Fedor was a great fighter for his time but the sport has evolved past him as it did past Royce in the 90s. He gave us some great shows, has a pretty awesome legacy to look back on and I'm glad he's bright enough to realize when its time to hang it up.

Lets not kid ourselves, it is ego forcing Fedor into retirement. If he got his diet under control he would be an amazing LHW. If he really wanted to be so outstanding, he would train outside of his camp

I'm sure there is ego involved to a point but there are other factors as well. The size of todays current heavies plays a big factor as does the overall skill sets. Sure, fedor beat fighters 40 pounds heavier than him in the past but they werent as well as rounded as today top tier HWs. I agree that he would be a force in LHW had he trained for it up until now but for someone like that, who has 15-20 years of a specific training style and regimen, repetition and spirituality, I think it might be tough to adjust to something new at this point.
