My mother-in-law was flipping through channels and came up with UFC just before that match started. First time she's ever seen an MMA fight. When the KO happened she yelled "Wow! I have to see that again." I had to assure her there were multiple slow motion replays coming up as she giggled with glee.

My wife walked past and shook her head.

So yeah, awesome knockout.

Offtopic, and very late, but Demian Maia KICKED ASS in the last UFC.
He's my favorite fighter because of his jujitsu and his attitude, I knew he was improving his striking but god fucking damn I was surprised by how much he has improved. It was just majestic seeing him do those amazing chasing haymakers and crosses. I am shocked in a good way. It was especially sweet to see since I knew he lost the fight before watching, but he definitely won the first round, lost the second, and I think he won the last one too, regardless watching he was like a awoken lion this fight with his stand up. Its really an inspiration to see someone improve that much in general, gives hope that no matter how shitty you at something right now you can skyrocket in the future.

I had no one else to share this with so I thought I would do it here so sorry if I'm being annoying.

The ref for the story fight was a fucking moron. Stood up Story while he was working for an armbar.

 

yeah, that was disgusting. funny to listen to Joe say "I don't like hearing (stupid ref's name) saying "show me something more than this" and then to utter disbelief as the fighters get stood up.

 

Whoever that ref is needs to be fined and fired. When an official says stuff like that, it alters the fight.

Well, in this case Fedor lost to a guy both older and who has been fighting longer. I agree with your sentiment, thought, that there aren't many/any "old school guys" with much relevancy these days. It happens.

Anyway, it was nice to see women's MMA! Maybe in a few years the BJJ dojos I go to won't be uber cock fests lol
