As for Lau and Pai speaking Japanese, well, they could be from Taiwan. =)

I'm just going on what the saturn VF1 manual-poster thing says, that Pai is from China (Hong Kong) and Lau is from China. Pai doesn't necessarily have to come from the same place as her father anymore than anyone has to be born in the same country as their parents. =)

The Japs couldn't get chinese speaking male/female. They r chinese for goddess sake. They couldnt be taiwanese for sure.
