I'm really just ranting about the arcade industry over here. It's abysmal....but dosen't have to be.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, exactly. I had meant to make a point on this but forgot.

Somewhere down the line between T3 and here the north UK scene for arcade games just dissapeared. I use T3 as an example as I can recall buying the game on my PS, really getting into it, then finding out there were T3 machines all over the place...Hollywod Bowl, Amusment Arcades, Shopping Centres, Computer shops even etc...you could play it almost anywhere you went. Even when it wasn't being played by that many people at a ceratin establishment it'd still be kept on.

Nowadays you'd be hard pressed to find 2 or 3 places in the north west up here with modern arcade games in.

Whatever happened between then and now needs to be turned around.

a good point, but you have to remember thats sony effective killed off the arcade market like they killed off the 16bit market.

tekken 3 runs on a "system 12" board, which is basicly a ps1 running 50% faster and with namcos own sound chip, so that board is/was really cheep, hence the loads of copys about back then!

sony back in the day, really made an effort to help arcade game makers to use the system11 with namco and capcoms z1 (?) there was loads of arcades that used a ps1 as a core.

and sony didnt charge them much aswell!

but when people want to use a arcade ps2 (system 246) sony charge a lot for it!

basicly since resident evil, ive seen loads of people rather play finaly fantasy or gran tourismo then go down to the arcades and play the latest fighting game or driving game!

it probably fits in with britans increasing obesity problem, people would rather stay at home getting blown up on halo2 on the £40 xbox live, then go out at the weekend and hav a drink then see a film!

they way i see it, if people really wanted to see FT in the uk/london, they should of begged sega uk to put up a jap version in troc last summer so they would of seen how good it would be!

    ---{sigh}----

such measures have too be taken just to get one game inside the country..... troc should know the reasons by now why EVO isnt doing so well. but they should also know how big the crowds of people were who came just to play it on it's release, same as VF4 and any other.

sega should just hurry up and release the damn game on a console then so i can shove a copied DVD-R up their ass.

otherwise, i just quit VF....... well, really it's a no choice situation.

all this talk about quitting vf, like the man said "if your gonna shoot, shoot!, dont talk"

i have seen the fighting game scene from when people used to bring in hammers in plastic bags to play street fighter!

and the only time i hear of people wanting to quit is when they hav banged up everyone, ie theres no one else to chalenge!

vf must really of been your 1st fighting game to get in competitivly.

even when tag came out in namco back in 99, people was still hurting vf3tb.

troc dont care about sticks, all they care about is people dont play evo no more, simple. if you lot cant even get them to change the sticks how the hell do you think you can get them to import a FT cab!

    haha

hahah i always like when random goes crazy.......

but i can see what hes sayin. whats the point of spending 500+ on a trip to japan and then sayin ur giving up vf.

the way i see it, vf in england is all about how faithful you are to it. going to tekken 5 (even tho it is fun to play) will always feel like a betrayl to me. i dont care if we dont ever get vf ft, ill still be playin vf evo in troc as long as sum heads are down for it and theres still gatherings.

tis all bout how faithful you are man and that sez alot bout ur character. like those fools up north, they may be a bunch of bickering fools but hey, i gotta respect their dedication to it, and north uk vf scene is smaller compared to ours, but their souls still burns for it. maybe something some mans in london can learn off of them. not me obviously, im still in love with this game...........

and please don't aggravate things. I'm only saying this cause I know Random, he gets kinda pissed when people he don't know come across as rude to him. See various posts! haha /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We're not ALL bickering fools, but I do see you point /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gifTBH.

I remember when the Trafford Centre near me opened in 98, there was TWO, count em, TWO VF players on VF3 (Myself and 1 other person) that was IT. (No I'm not joking either). I still rinsed the hell outta the DC version (I had a hong kong dc + Arcade stick just for VF3 if I remember rightly). VF in the UK has always had more of a cult status next to tekken, but I don't think that has ever stopped me loving the ninja LOL. I personally can't wait for the next addict session meet at LM's (hopefully in Jan next year) and on my visit to London on the 21st Jan I hope I get some VF competition. (Fingers crossed!).

I can see both side of arguments but at the end of he day your supposed to be playing a game for fun, if certain heads aint having fun for whatever reason there aint no need to go cussing them down (maybe just a little.. ^_^ ), heck everyone's acting as if we're all pro athletes or something, it's a game folks just remember that sometimes /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Slimadey: yeah look forward to playing you again, maybe a miracle can happen and we can play on FT!

I'll do as much practice for my Kage and Sarah as is possible. What with all the alcohol/pussy I'll be 'doing' (I will try my best on the pussy side! LOL.).

Think I'll be there about mid day on the Saturday 22nd Jan. (I think I'll be arriving in London at my mates about midnight on the Friday 21st all being well). I know it's a while off, but with all the Christmas festivites due, I might forget to post about it in the new year! I should be staying at Mike's on the Saturday as well and heading back on Sunday about 12ish (a whistestop tour if you will). Might have a look in CEX while I'm down there as well (The only decent import shop we've got in Manchester doesn't stock them anymore). BTW There is a CEX shop in Manchester, but it's complete crap TBH. Hope all the London crew have a mint Christmas/New Year, don't do anything I wouldn't! (Which isn't much TBH /versus/images/graemlins/smirk.gif).

Yeah forget Cex I reckon you'll see more stuff in Game Focus just off Totenham Court Road, near Godge Street station, they have better staff, overall a nicer store, still check out Cex if you want, but last time I visited it was an overpirced shit hole.
Oh and good luck on the stray cat hunting /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

(Merry Christmas all you miserable Uk VFBastards!! ^_^)

random give it your best shot, why would going to japan and playing FT make me more dedicated to going to the troc and playing version A of evo. Being faithful is one thing but to be faithfull to londons shitty arcade is just plain stupid.

Last time I was in London (earlier in the year) I went to Game Focus and got an ultra rare Hori stick for my Saturn (well chuffed with that). It's made SF Alpha 1 & 2 really good to play, still looking for CVS2 on the PS 2 (Jap or US). I remember CEX looking a bit crappy (i.e. dirty and a bit like a goth nightclub LOL). Might have to buy a rare import game 'just for the sake of it' LOL.
