UK VFDC Video Thread

it's hard to say really, geewai does have a good set of win streaks - but that usually means that each individual had only played him (say twice?) -- one player could lose a match, wait for the que and then win the next which makes it a 1-1 conclusion..

i think knee and jide are getting better at minipulating the game mechanics, working on defense, fuzzy, delay pressure - and geewai's style has a good use of character move proporties and flowcharts.

it's also fair to say that knee doesnt go to troc alot, neither do i, rory, and probably a couple of others.

but it's good that everybody is getting better in their own way - that's what counts /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Nobody saved replays on my system, I have just one replay and thats from Akairyu Medion who was using Kage vs Rory. I'll post that one when I start capping the replays from the mem card.

Yeah I think Jideo and Knee have the most knowledge about the game (apart from BK /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif ) and it pays off, gwai knows alot too his main stregnth is he plays very fast and is very random so it's hard to get into a good rhythm against him.

 

Howl is pretty damn solid, I keep forgetting about him. Who is the Prince? I remember he was at the arcade but there was too many faces, haha. Was he the other Lau player?

 

opti: yeah ur right, i'll probably go down tomorrow - i just been mad busy. and nah, my system knowlege sucks ass this time, im just concerntraiting on the character im using.

btw, i mentioned before your game is super solid rock, you just need to get those character specific tricks in the weponary - take abit of time using one character, you could raise the bar x20 studying move proporties.

 

Yeah I didn't mean replays I thought you were bringing your capture equipment to save matches?

The first kage v goh match was taken at rebirth and it was akairyu medion not kneeninja

also that was my jacky vs ash kaiser and my lion vs feck

Both the me vs zer0kage matches are the same match.

I _really_ need to stop going for throws all the time.

Not impressed by Kage. He seemed more interested in getting the cheap ring outs than actually playing the game. You sure that's Knee?

Goh looks strong. Some tight throw escapes and good ground pressure made for some decent play.

Again, not impressed by Jacky. Missed Heel Swords after stagger/counter hit elbows are not acceptable! It also seemed that he wasn't tech-rolling to avoid extra punishment. Badly-timed attacks and lack of aggression allowed for too much punishment. BK's Wolf is, as always, a pleasure to watch. Your defence is just too good; I'd like to see you play with a better character, someone like Lau, where the damage potential is still there, but where you'll also have access to some good strikes instead of Wolf's list of rubbish.

Kage seems average. Some semi-decent flow-charts, but nothing I haven't seen a hundred times. Lack of hit-checking with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif is a bit sloppy. Slow movement and missed TFT combos aren't great.

Wooden play from Lion made for some uninspiring matches. Overall, a mediocre experience.

Random offensive evades and spammy commands marred the Jeffry player's level of play.
The Aoi player seemed to have a decent level of finesse, along with some good strike-throw mix-ups.


File: HOWL[goh] vs beligerent feck[akira]

Akira seems to be somewhat of a 'bedroom champion', displaying signs of someone who spends too much time playing against AI's and practising combos in training mode.
Goh showed some signs of skill, some good evades and basic movement etc.

Much better fights. Higher quality play from both players. Jacky makes use of tools like the Low Backfist and Pak Sao, and keeps on the pressure with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif . Goh shows some good defence and keeps up with Jacky's speed. Both players move around quickly, and also capitalise on floaters and combo starters.


Files: ?[vanessa] vs jide[kage]; ?[vanessa] vs jide[kage]

Not much to say about this one; I don't know much about Vanessa. Kage seems mediocre: some average play accompanied by missed combos and lack of ground pressure.



File: ?[vanessa] vs rupert H[jeffry]

Good play from both players. Jeffry made use of advantageous situations with Knee/Throw follow-ups, and maintained a degree of pressure against the downed opponent.
Vanessa used some good cancels to bait whiffed attacks, and played some decent string > throw flowcharts.



File: rupert H[jeffry] vs black dragon [lei fei]

Lei Fei seems on form here; some good stance-switching and makes use of the various evasive properties of each of them.
Jeff seems unable to deal with Lei Fei, as though he's inexperienced against the character, resulting in a lot of 'schoolboy' errors.




BK, Blaze seems like he might be a good choice for you, actually. He has decent damage potential, but his strikes are a bit more fluid, so you'll be able to be a bit more aggressive with your attacks.

You probably got a point with the bedroom part but the rest is way off, if you wrote "displaying signs of someone who spends far too much time online and has no offline competition experience, and practising his combos in tons of lag" then that would make sense to me.

 

that was a tight match /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif i liked that - b-feck, looks like you got the exicution down, and howl is good to train against with that kind of pressure. well done in the tourney btw- we almost made it too.
