Well, since it´s so cheap to fly there (really, 70 euros isn´t a lot of money, just buy one game less...), 3 days would be cool with me too, especially if that enables more people to go. We'd also save money we'd spend on food and staying there otherwise, so we could spend more on other things..

I'll take a look into hotel costs n stuff, so we can get a complete picture on how the expenses would look.

Christmas meet would be cool, but my parents might've gotten their new tv (46 inch! compare that to that small thing we have right now and you understand I'll have to watch movies at home all weekend long :p, also, Purmerend Showdown 3 will be awesome with a big screen like that, hahaha). Also, I asked Twan if he had time that weekend before and he said he didn't, so it'll have to be at somebody else's place...

yeah, 3 days is fine for me too actually.
yeah, i'm busy that weekend as i'll be flying to istanbul for christmas on sunday the 21st so i'll be sterssing, packing and buying xmas presents the whole saturday.

me and krye where talking about a thursday meeting too, not sure how much ppl can make it like always, but if we can get 3/4 ppl together that'd be great. got a new tv here too, widescreen big mofo, so finally no backdashing off the screens, or whatever the handicap is that 4:3 has..

ah, by your post i thought you meant that you wanted to go asap. but if its a few mounts away, count me in!

3 days could work provided that we arrive in the morning/early afternoon so we have at least two days to spend in stockholm. (note that check-out is usually in the morning which cuts short the third day options.) i would prefer 4 days, but not at the expense of peoples absence.

i checked accomodation prices also. i think apartments are not neccessary if we would go 3 days. the prices of budget hotels and youth hostels are reasonable at around 25 euro pppn.

as for a meet, i think i can make it both thursday and the weekend(at least 1 day) so let me know!

    ps @twan
unfortunately, la dolce vita sucked big time. i felt it drags on and on...singin' in the rain was oke, but i don't feel it beats moulin rouge or even chicago. i have a few titles in mind for you. have you seen twilight samurai, shine or glengarry glen ross?

I was looking at hotel prices last night, but I must´ve looked at the wrong places, since I couldn´t find anything cheaper than 50 euros pppn. And you are right about the checking out thing, that in itself is not that big of a problem, since we can just take our bags to that gamecenter thing, but we'd also have to go to the airport in time, which adds stress while we'd play games, which would spoil the fun.

So I'm just gonna be brainstorming for a bit here:

    Scenario 1:
We'd depart on thursday evening (after everyone's gone to work/school?). Then we'll arrive late on thursday, we'll have to find our hotel and then go to sleep.
Play/sightsee/go out/whatever on friday and saturday, and then leave at a comfortable pace on sunday, so we can go back to work/school on monday.

    Scenario 2:
We'd depart on fridaymorning (let's say 10 am), then we'd arrive at around noon->out of the airport between 1 and 2 am. Then we'd have to get to our hotel, settle in for a bit, maybe take a shower/change clothes. Then let's say it's 4 or 5 am, we'd then meet with the swedes somewhere and play for a bit, then get some food and play on for the rest of the day.

Then we'd stay and play on saturday and then we'd move on to:

    Scenario 2a:

We'd leave on sunday, but as we're all addicts and want to play as much as we can, we book a flight in the evening and stay and play for the rest of the day, looking at the clock while we do that and then stay a bit late so we'd have to run all over the place trying to catch our plane, haha. Upside is that it'll save in hotel/food costs.

    Scenario 2b:

We'd leave on Monday, so we'd have all of sunday to stay n play as well, but we'd have to take the day off on monday as well. It'll also be a bit more expensive because we'd have to book the hotel for another day, as well as get some breakfast etc. Upside is that it'd be a lot less stressful, probably...

    Scenario 3/4/5/6/7/8:

Other possibilities that you guys might've thought of :p.

Also, I talked to Skatan Milla yesterday and he said that usually when people come and visit stockholm, they stay at other players' houses. He said I should talk to Jeneric about that, and I will, but not before I know how many people are coming, so that may or may not become an option in the future (Dutch=Cheap, so I can't resist this option if it's available... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif ).

En nu even naast het Zweden gebrabbel, ga ik weer even iets ouds terughalen /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif .

Yrvin!

I like the scenario that causes the least stress and lets us just hang out there in all peace, meet the swedish folk and then take our sweet time getting back to holland.
I'm not really concerned about the costs (What can I say? I saved plenty) or anything.

Three days, five days, s'all fine with me really.

    Krye:
So we got Ake, NGK, Vort, Spoon, Krye and Sof up for this? We almost got a full house there.

Not only is staying at people's houses cheaper, it also means you can go on later into the night if wanted. It also depends on the Swedes' plans as I guess they'll want to organise something around it (judging from the post up there somewhere).

I'd say leave on Monday morning.

And don't forget to bring stroopwafels!

    NGKrush:
Count me in for the meet this Thursday. A'dam, correct?

    Akebueno:
I was really surprised with how much I ended up liking both Chicago and Moulin Rouge. I watched them on a whim really.

I don't think going on til late at night shouldn't be a problem even if we're in a hotel. I don't think getting back into the hotel will be a problem even if we return by 3 or 4 am, especially on friday/saturday night.

@ake: wha?!?! that's the first time i heard someone say that about ldv. I actually enjoyed the dragging on because it felt like the hours after going out, leaving the club when the lights turn on and hanging around in the city because you don't feel like doing anything else. moulan rouge is more a film in setup than sitr, as it's more oldschool the songs are less integrated into the film and story, maybe that's why you prefer the newer films? gene kelly is never wrong in my book, I'm always looking forward to see him sing&dance. I liked chicago, but didn't enjoy it as much as i hoped because of the "all hollywood" casting. It worked well i guess as the film is all about glitter and glamour, but it is probably just not my choice of casting (i have a big casting "thing" as you know, can't get over it..) loved moulin rouge though, how they used all those different songs to have conversations in the lyrics was such a nice surprise! the production is so nice too, afterwards I rewatched the dicaprio romeo&juliet (from the same director) and liked it too as before i didn't appreciate it at all.

I haven't seen any of the titles you mentioned, I did by a dvd from that spanish director you gave me a film of the last time: all about my mother. Still have to find the right moment to watch it though.

@ake and vort: supercool you can make it. same rules apply as usual, so just call me when i need to open the door /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

    about the prices,
i mostly looked at youth hostels and backpackers hotels. they usually have no curfew which means you can walk in and out when you please. internet is available. guest kitchen to make small meals(think about breakfast& lunch, but i doubt diner) if you're worried about privacy, there are private rooms available (2,4,6 person rooms)but you have to book the entire room. cost is the same or maybe couple euros per person more.

    @twan
haha, i was just testing you for a reaction. i don't think it sucks big time, but i was dissappointed...i guess i was expecting something more. i'll bring the dvds on thursday!

ps what about yrvin and kareem? you guys also going to stockholm?

hey guys, nice games on thursday. don't have much to say really because i didn't play that much. just wanted to say that vort was playing nicely, try to evade more though. i remember doing p,p,3pp and you would crouch nearly everytime after the 2nd p on guard, giving me a free juggle. try to punish whiffs/-14s with the easy 6p+k slam and whenever you see someone crouching (at oki, trying to fuzzy, stuff like that) mash out that 2p+k6p string! the only thing i miss from you right now is that quick'n easy damage, because without it i'm not really scared and will try to 6k you out of sways or pressure. you where saying that jeff only needs 2 chances to win a match, if you tighten up these basics, i won't dare to take such big chances as i did thursday. 6p+k combo to oki pressure: no way am i going to randomly throw out 6k.

fulan needs to practise, your vf game is rusty as hell.

Thursday was nice! I'm currently uploading videos (I've got 2 matchups for everyone and 3 videos per matchup, so that's nice and balanced), I'll put some links here or in the other thread in about an hour :).

Just wanted to say some things about everyone I played:

Sofiane: Your oki game is rocksolid now, aside from maybe not enough throwing enough. At least I'm not even gonna attempt to interrupt you anymore now :p. Execution is getting better again, can't wait to see some crazy akira shit with the SFIV sticks :D. Only thing you constantly failed was SPoD, but I think you noticed that yourself ;).

Twan: Only played your Pai, but she was hard enough to play against :p. I really need to get to know her options (same as with Lion), because it's killing me atm. Your reversals were really nice at times, but at other times it felt like you were just throwing them out because you felt like it, which got me a lot of throws/MC's.

Ake: You surprised me with some rock-solid Shun mixups, going from stance to stance and killing me with some mid/low mixups from there, very frightening to see. Unfortunately it felt as though I could easily break your game by putting some pressure on you, when I got my game going, your game started getting weaker, at that point I could easily just go into autopilot and pick you apart. Aside from just improving your basics (fuzzy, eteg..), there's also some things I feel you could improve your shun with.
I never see you do the 270 throw! Is this a problem with execution, or do you just forget you have it (since you need 10 drinks, this could easily be the case)?
Also, I saw you use it a couple of times, but when I play as Shun, I really like to abuse 6p+k+gpp. It evades a lot of things, gives you +1 drinks, is safe and the 6p+k+g doesn't count as an attack, so you can easily make your opponent fail an evade with it!
Last, but certainly not least: improve your juggling after 8k(+g), you ALWAYS do 6p+k! Yes, this gives you drinks, but your initiative is GONE, so you have to go on the defensive after this. It also does no damage whatsoever.. At WCG I saw Itazan do some pretty damaging combo's using OM then doing a jab, low jab and kk, I tried to do this myself, but it's pretty hard, haha. But there's probably some easier combo's to do. I think p->kk was pretty easy, and pretty damaging. And it gives you a pretty nice oki game (especially compared to 6p+k :p ).
These are the things I think you need to work on!

Maurits: You've really improved since last time! It felt as though you let go of your past game and started experimenting with different things, really nice! Aside from what Twan said, I think you should cancel your stances to throw more. I said it alot when you were playing, but it's really important, because if you don't cancel, there's almost no reason for your opponent to stop blocking, which means you're only bashing away against a wall!

Fulan: didn't play you, you were too busy with ST (Super Trash.. xD).

Me: I was pretty tired and was frustrated with me not really being able to play 100%. Gotta work on reacting to my opponent's play, knowing what options are best against what my opponent is doing. I know this against some characters, but not nearly all of them (Akira, for example). Also need to work on understanding Pai and Lion, this is a bit of a priority for me, because not understanding them frustrates me quite a bit :(.

Let's do another meet before the New Year is here!

    Monday/Tuesday please :).

My parents bought a new TV this week, it's huge! Next time I hold a meet at my place, and my parents aren't around... it'll be awesome :p. VF is pretty impressive (I've played DOA on a movie theatre screen once, so I wasn't superblown away), but I had a go at Ace Combat 6 on it and that just blew me away. It's just a completely new experience on a big screen like that... awesome :D.

I started fooling around with Lei Fei for a bit and his stances aren't even that hard to work with, he doesn't have a lot of moves in each of his stances. So it isn't like with Vanessa, where it's just a ton of moves in each of her two stances, where you can easily forget all those moves, but rather that you can naturally use almost his entire arsenal, since he works around flowing to different stances naturally. It's something different again :). I went through his movelist a couple of times and I also noticed that I pretty much have him down. It doesn't feel as though he can really surprise me any more in the form of moves I haven't seen before. I'm pretty happy about that, since he's a tricky character.

Gonna run through Lion and Pai's movelists too, this weekend...it's annoying to have to learn about two annoying characters, haha.
