I caught the tail-end of the nicostream, along with some other guys in the chat yesterday. Thanks akai for the link.
They seemed fairly inexperienced players (maybe the stronger guys had appeared earlier), not doing too many moves or combos, but there were some interesting throw escape tussles at one point. Asapon herself sounded very excited throughout on the mic, even taking a brief turn at the gaming monitor, in a Jacky mirror, where the crowd chanted her name. Some lucky guys even got a double handshake off her! The whole format and the numbers present both on stage and in the audience, clearly demonstrated that this is still a big deal game in Japan, loved and enjoyed by it's many loyal fans.

Ok thank you, I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed for TGS.
