Well, I might've spoken too fast... not about him being strong, but about some of the moves that I thought weren't in Ver. C.

    Namely [3][P][P][K] after [8][K] hits. I can't believe I got as far as I did w/o knowing that. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

Anyways, two new moves that might've been covered before, but not by me:

    New throw:
[4][6][6][P]+[G] -- good damage (60pts or so) but takes 3 drinks (OUCH!)

    Also an inashi:
[4][P]+[K] - only useable from 10 drinks. Does quite a bit of damage, and crumbles if you successfully inashi an oncoming attack. Someone whacked me w/ this at lunch. :)

the [4][6][6][P][G] throw requires 3 drinks, or takes away three drinks?

Both! Takes away three drinks, so obviously it requires three drinks as well. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

    One more new move:
From turned around position [K]+[G] doesa little bicycle kick thing.

Say -- Shadowdean -- you had a VF4 machine, perhaps you could help me try to make some vids. I'm having problems -- check my post in media.

Takes away 3 drinks? Thats fucking retarded. Period. Man, I hope that is changed when the final evo version hits the states cause that makes absolutly NO sense, unless it is an extremely high damage that also positions you to drink.
How can I help with the vids? I don't know that much about taking them. I have a cannon minidv camcorder. I am planning on ordering the evo rom later this month when sega can quote me a price.

Yeah -- it kinda sucks. It's only a 60pt throw it looks like -- maybe 70, as I"ve only done it once. Looks pretty kewl. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif I agree though... Shun's drinks just take too much concentration sometimes.

As for the converter -- it looks like it's a turd. I need to get a new one.

I can probably get you an average price for Evolution -- I think it runs about 200,000 yen at the moment.

That would be awesome, except the tight wadded asses at sega had to make two versions of Naomi, one for Japan, one for the states/europe. The Japan one uses DVD's (or some variation of a dvd) while the states uses a ROM cartridge /versus/images/icons/frown.gif if you can get a good price on the ROM, then by all means - we need to talk /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif

Oh... er.... I doubt that. They're all discs here. However, like in CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, they refer to it as just a ROM (or ROM upgrade in EVO's case) which is why I thought they were the same thing.

See my Evolution Launch impressions for my opinions on Sega's marketing.

Oh well, it was worth a shot..I've been on the phone with SOA trying to arrange to just get the ROM.

So what are they saying? I would assume it wouldn't be available to anyone until the game is released in the US, and I'm sure there's no solid date for that.

That's really bizarre that they did it that way. Discs are so much kewler. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

Also, I'm sure you're going to have the version issue as with VF4 arcade.... Evo will probably be on Ver. C by the time it comes out over there, and might be behind.

This might be an obvious question, but how hard is it to find the Japanese hardware and install a Naomi Disc drive?

Not so much how hard it is to find, but the cost...the naomi hardware runs upwards of 800 - 1000 dollars U.S, I don't want to even think what it would cost to import that Jananese version. I agree, disks are so much cooler, cheaper to produce, and make better use of space...their only draw back that I can think if is that they are not as durabe as cartridges, but then again, one is not tossing these things around..
Yep, just wait for the American version to be out, should not be that long.
