Nice work with the clips Creed. Good job /versus/images/icons/smile.gif.

I would rather not have any mention of frames in guide clips, and make the watchers learn just by observing and understanding the situation, but depending on the intended audience of the clips either way works. And actually you got a nice mix of both of those in here /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif.

Now the next step is to make character-specific clips showing offensive and defensive strats. This might be a little harder though due to the need for capturing cards (and probably the need to import Evo if a US one doesn't come out).

My next idea was maybe something showing the fundamental guessing games and situations that come up over and over again in VF, and how these can be dealt with. For example I could have a clip devoted to staggers, how to deal with them and how to capitalize on them.
One sequence would show stagger into throw, the next would show stagger into MC combo-starter. Then after that I show the opponent getting out with struggling + low punch or struggling + EDTEG. You get the idea.

Another common situation worth covering might be rising attacks... how to stuff them, how to dodge them, how to reverse them....which attacks always beat low rising moves, which always beat high, etc.

What does everyone think? Character specific strats for the next movie or general dealing-with-everyday-VF-situations?

Excellent! Those are exactly my ideas of a guide clip /versus/images/icons/smile.gif !!! A bunch of those and I say the popularity of the game will jump up among people who have a slight interest in the game (Or even those who are not interested). I like this idea! /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

Maybe we can have both? The first type being more of a 'Match analysis' and the second being a pure guide. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

I'd rather see a general type video. It's interesting for everybody, unless you are a pro of course /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

Very strong idea creed. Myabe you could show how to stop the different forms of option select as well and where to properly employ them.

Finally got a chance to view the clip and I must say great job! Keep them in that 20meg range that my dial-up likes so much /versus/images/icons/wink.gif. I particularly liked the [P] to CBD and hop-kick. Gave me some new strategies /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif. As for your next clip - I would say keep it in a general sense so that everyone can enjoy it. I like the idea of having a clip that specializes in certain areas like staggers. Will look for next clip. /versus/images/icons/wink.gif

Tutorial Video -3- ... w__t!

Download >>VF4tutorial_3_divx503.avi

Video number 3 is a match analysis focusing entirely on elbows and how to use them (or deal with them).

improvements:
-Even more time to read comments =P
-Colored the text so that it's easier to read and separate key points.
-Fewer pauses (since this is just about the elbow situations)
-The slo-mo music doesn't repeat =D
-Kept the filesize hovering near 20 megs for dialup people or those with
crappy house wiring that makes their DSL suck ballz.

Still divx5.03, get that at http://www.divx.com/divx/ if you want to be able to watch the clip.

Once again, you have outdone yourself. Outstanding work, and immensely helpful. Who knows, maybe one of these days I'll be able to give the top players here in Minneapolis (all two or three of 'em) a run for their money.

Video 4 is out - yay.

Download >> VF4Tutorial_4_wmv8.wmv

In the interest of keeping this a decent filesize, I went with wmv.. but never fear, it's wmv8 so all of you should be able to play it without issues.
Not much difference from the previous one except wmv'ing caused a few tiny burps and glitches in the sound and visual. Nothing too distracting.

Don't y'all love the ghetto scrolling summary at the end? =P

Really cool, save the lack of music for the inbetween bits. Still awesome.

AIEEE

did I not upload the one with in-between music?

I made a version with in-between music - jeffry's stage. Is that not what's
on the server? ... just double checked and it's got music all the way.

Or did you mean you don't like that there isn't special music during the normal-speed parts of the match? I leave that alone because having sound there helps make what's going on clearer.
