At least you will have qualifs phase /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif
In France some private organisation takes care of all wcg events and they doesn't like console, so they only make em for PC game. We offered them last year to do all by ourselves, online tournaments with videos etc but they said no.
So I'll follow wcg after the event with youtube, as last year...

WCG needs to have better organisation in the regional qualifiers, a lot of players last time missed out on the chance to compete due to sub standard organising, advanced notice etc

one example of their bad organising abilities is of qualifying tornis not actually having a copy of the game. This was repeated in more than one country, laughable...

At least in here they had a serious lack of information going on for the winners.

Apparently Manjimaru had to make several calls and send several mails to get the info on plane tickets and flight schedule and even then they didn't tell him where the plane leaves.

PGR winner got the information the evening before the flight to Germany. I have no idea if he ever made it.

It's like they didn't want or didn't care whether or not the qualified people got there or not.

And, well, this is nitpicky, but they could have thought about the prices for 2nd and 3rd a bit more too. Only the winner got MS points and free Live gold playtime for VF5. 2nd and 3rd got graphics cards (console tournament, neither is PC player) and better yet apparently the card of the 3rd was actually more powerful than the 2nd /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif How cool is that?

Man, I got carded while buying alcohol the other day, beard and all.
I really hope to see everyone again, last years WCG VF5 was such a positive experience that I might try and save up to go to China in case there's no regional final for me to enter.

There was a time I dreamed that VF5 would be in WCG.

I woke up later with some sticky shit in my PJs.

Looks like I'm going to beg schoolmates if they have Xbox Live, and if I can use them. And that begging's going to be f**king desperate! And I CAN get VF5 (if it's still there), and I have money for it!

Just tell me when it starts! (qualifiers)

Here's the mail I received from the Fr organisation:
    "Bonjour,

    short translation:
"the VF5 integration in WCG France is relative to Sega and not to us, and since VF5 did catastrophic sells in France (?) Sega does not want to take care of this event. It would have been different for Soul Calibur or Street Fighter blablabla"

wtf, how come is Sega taking care of WCG events in local countries?
So Finland has probably more VF5 copies sold than here, he? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

"We have hard time convincing sponsors that VF tournament would be worth it. No money, no tournament". Either that, or theyre just using that as an excuse.

Its like an hypothetical example where a small country has a super athlete that would have very good chance of winning in the olympics. But hes like the only one practising this particular art in his country. Does the country not send the athlete on the basis that they are a small country, or do they send him because he has a good chance of winning? In my opinion, skill-wise, France should send a VF-player to WCG.. I admit that this time the travelling expenses for european players are going to be much more expensive than last time. So prepare that sponsors are less responsive.

Other small countries with low player numbers/exposure have sent players, like New Zealand.

It really comes down to how the local WCG franchisees want to use the money they get budgeted from WCG

For example, in Australia, they used it to run a bunch of non WCG games and not Virtua Fighter. Wasn't at all happy.

I'm working to get VF played in some local fighting events and meetups in the hope that A) the fighting community will get behind having a fighting game, ANY fighting game in this major tournament for our region and B) so we can reference to WCG that fighting community exists and has numbers.

I recommend everyone talk to the people you know who run fighting tournaments in general (yes, go to your local street fighter scene) and see if you can work together to show some support.

After all, good profile for Virtua Fighter in WCG means more interest in fighting games from esports organisers. Once they see what a good spectator sport it is, they are impressed.

Yes, that's a good idea. Just because VF is in the lineup doesn't mean it's guaranteed. More people means more guarantees. I do think WCG Oz did run VF, but non WCG games are really a waste of time; what were they thinking?

No, they didn't run it at the National Finals.

They pulled out some last minute qualifiers for the Asian games because the Asian branch ordered them to. The Nationals were a balls up.

Btw, another Victorian - come to Couchwarriors this Sunday http://www.couchwarriors.org - I am running Virtua Fighter there to spark some interest
