I can only agree with DrDogg. A new print guide can only be made available if the game that got DLC receives a new retail edition (see for instance Oblivion GOTY Edition). Otherwise it makes little sense for the publisher in regard to making money.

As for DLC guides: Actually sounds pretty nice! But forums, blogs , so to speak the private users, the community, will have covered every tiny change in the content of the game by then.

With a mass of people on their side they can easily create decent, in-depth YouTube videos, elaborate blog entries or even whole homepages dedicated to the newly upgraded game simply outdoing any effort on the publisher's side.

And of course, the community will do it for free. Bringing someone to pay for content online, on a webpage, for an updated version of a guide (that they have already bought) is a mammoth effort in the times of freebie internet.

That explains alot. Wow, the fact that the publishers also rely on the user community to fill in the gaps is a trip.

on that account, we're lucky to get guides in the first place [IMG]

So I guess there are no real royalties to speak of for the authors then. If 80% happens in the first two weeks, whoa [IMG] that sounds like its just enough sales to let the authors pay back their advances and that's about it.

the process of producing and marketing the guides sounds like a high pressure hustle [IMG]

I guess I'm in the minority, I just purchased Zone Of the Enders 2nd Runner Guide (For the PS2) from Amazon. I bought the game a couple of years ago [IMG] But then again, I'm one of those artwork freaks too.

Why would you buy a guide full of shit and old info when everything you need can be found on this site for free?

I like having a printed list of commands in front of me while I play a game. I also like getting guides and having something to read when I travel. I don't have internet or computer access all the time.

I thought the Brady guide was good. I liked the sections right before you got to the Akira page. Those sections did a good job of teaching me about the 50/50 mix up between mids and throws, the importance of counter hits, and also the importance of frames.

I have purchased 4 other Brady games guides for a variety of other games in the past(Street Fighter Alpha 3,Mortal Kombat Trilogy,X-men Legends 2,and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2) ,and I have never once been disapointed. I always thought they were the best brand of strategy guides.

Yeah, I like Brady Games. They made a nice one for Street Fighter x Tekken. I do enjoy collecting strategy guides. I also have ones for Mortal Kombat (9), Capcom vs SNK 2, and Killer Instinct (!). And Earthbound for the SNES (the game came with it)

    UPDATE:

I was lucky enough to go to a used game store where they had both editions! I compared them side by side and the one with the red sign has more info. there is an expanded dojo section about playing online and how to adjust your game if the other player is doing x, y, z.

Looks like they updated some stuff for VF5 ver b + c and list those accordingly. some things exist on the ps3 version that you can't do on xbox, and that's all updated! So I definitely recommend the updated guide with the red sign on the cover.

Just to be sure, you know that nobody plays Ver. B or C anymore, especially online?

Yes. I don't have an online subscription anyway, so that's okay for me. I would like to get Final Showdown and an online subscription in the near future!
