Uh, I think the word was 'simpler'.

Im not running up the walls yet because this is just the first location test. I think we all should remember that.

The game will undoubtedly be playable. Its not like this is turning it unbalanced. Im just confused how people say something is good and not argument it with anything. I guess it IS important to some people to just get to do big launchers..

For What? The game ain't even a week yet and i still haven't seen it used much. Leave it in. VF need a presentation up grade. Most of the time the Moves use for it are Enders.

I like that these changes really makes this Virtua Fighter 5 now, now it will really play radically different then previous games I hope.

I think one of the goals Sega had was leveling the playing field and make everyone work their way up from the start, which is also something Fuudo said was a key thing for VF.

Enough with the "let's go back to VF4" nonsense, let's hope this game really gives us something new and fresh.

*edt* @ slide and his post. Yea but multiple TEs from medium disadvantage forced you to buffer it into evades. Something that could get baited and punished. A big part of the mindgame.

It's there as an option sure but what forces you to evade in this current system (as we understand it) to keep this part of the mindgame intact?

Also, lowering the execution barrier can be a REALLY good thing to attract players, Capcom and Namco haven't really taken this route.

Even though the removal of multi TE's might make lose an edge I had, I think the core guessing game and options won't be gone.

because you need to guess whether the opponent is trying to throw you or not. First and foremost, if they are trying to throw you and you know this, you shouldn't be ETEG'ing. You should be launching them for a big combo. This makes them think twice about throwing you again. Using a eteg here, even if successful usually doesnt have the same consequences and since the opponent didnt take any damage, hes more likely to try it again.
Second, if you do come into a situation where you MUST TE or eteg, you need to pay attention to what type of person you are facing and choose your throw escape selectively. Is it a greedy wolf or shun who will either want to giant swing or drink all the time. If you bust them one time, are they the type of person that will try again and again or are they the type of person that will switch it up immediately if they get reversed. Is it a player that will always use the weakest throw because they think you'll ever input it? ALL these BASIC games go out the window when you have players that are escpaing 4 directions.

I dont think theres anything that forces you to evade in the new system. Evading those big launchers (that people will do more now that clash is gone) might net you more reward than blocking them, but you might as well block them if you dont wanna take the risks involved with evading. (which are now bigger)

i might be a little late, but does (from the sarah vs wolf? vid) Sarah have a stance changing step like Jacky?

if so, then I am a much happier VF'er. That alone will help alot in ensuring the best damaging since she is so friggin open/close stance specific.

I from what I see so far, the game seems hype. They better announce console support at TGS...... >____<

How about just counter hitting them out of their launcher if they try to beat your throw?

    Re: VF5:FS Location Test Impressions

Yeah I'm not sure I quite understand that either. Multi TE was introduced in VF4 but throw range increased greatly too so the number of situations you could get thrown increased.

As I said in VF3 the directions were all there but the range was tiny so even when some moves were blocked you could be out of range. The difference was that you could not evade and throw escape nor block and throw escape during recovery. This is a different kind of guessing game.

This new system might be some kind of mix of the 2? But I still don't know what grapplers got in return for losing many of their directions. Maybe more damage and better setups?

Which is what I said in my first posts in this thread, the new DEEP guessing game of VF: attack/block. Its only deep in your head. In my opinion, this is indeed going back to old VF. I dunno if theres anything actually new being introduced apart from less throws. We will play it, but I cant fathom why people are so hyped about it.

My fault homie my fault haha. This morning I glazed over posts, mind wasn't in full effect. So yes, should have cited your post along with GT's.

Side note: It's funny to see the different approaches with local tests. Some like to try the individual moves out, at a slow/dictated pace. Others like to play their character as if nothing has changed and see how it feels as they go along lol. At least both ways, both players agree to go 5 rounds to get the most bang for their buck.

What was that at 0:34? It kinda looks like Pai Sabaki'd from the side, but she didn't really do a move?
Also, am I the only one looking at a couple of these stages and wondering what exactly was changed about them? jeff's and Eileen's in particular look way similar to their 5 Vanilla incarnations.

This scenario doesn't sound familiar to you Manji at all? I mean, you know....it's exactly what you always say with every VF. Then after it comes you will say the complete opposite to what you said before.
