A crystal ball. Wow. Such humor. Normally I'd go ahead and try to explain why A: that's not funny, and B: what I'm saying actually makes more sense than you're willing to admit because you think it will take an inch off your you-know-what... but ok. Crystal ball. Haha, you card, you.

In any case, I'm curious to know what would be added for the marketplace on X-Box live. Extra item packs? Costumes? Stages?

Like 420gamer the only games I even play my PS3 for are VF5 and blasts of Resistance Fall of Man.

PS3 overall is just a disappointment quality game wise, still its why were all here Virtua Fighter 5.

Question is with XBOX360 now getting a considerable upgrade of this title. Do you intend to keep both or sell your PS3 version knowing full well that you are no longer going to be playing it over the 360 counterpart?

(I hear Tekken 5 DR currently on PS3 Store is due for an online update shortly)

you seem to be implying the vf community is some sort of fragile sacred cult, waiting to be shattered by a flood of mass market appeal via online play.

that is a totally false point of view. if you were based in japan you'd see how everyone and their granny goes into arcades over there and plays vf...that includes annoying brat japanese school kids. the japanese are relaxed about the vf scene because its widely available.

vf is only cult in the west, where the hardcore players constantly pine for the openess and accessibility of the japanese scene yet ironically complain in the same breath over an announcment like this!

if online even goes a fraction towards bringing in a wider player base, what are we all complaining about?

vf.com does not = the entire vf community. this site represents a hardcore subset of the scene and to this end should not cloud people's judgments. there are literally thousands of potential chibita's out there waiting to happen...western cbibita's....and maybe online play will be the catalyst to bring in the new fold.

I'm curious as to what changed?

Xbox live has been what it has been since 2004-2005. Sega has said all along that online capability was not technically possible because of network bandwith.

    What's changed?

Not that Sega didn't have a credibility problem b4 but, how can you really believe anything they say in the future?

    Really what's changed?

The fans have been crying about online VF for years now, what different today than the last few years?

    I second you Maximum,

unfortunately most gamers seem to think ok I am generalizing here that fighting game are just about button bashing and hoping for the best, and don't realize the underlying study, practice that goes into making a fighting game player.

If those players who pick up this game to have a blast with their mates on Virtua Fighter soon enough they would realize "wait, I have to understand how that works, how to get into that stance, how to pull off the combo, how to float someone" and would become a better player and hell even a person because of it.

and the online medium for challenge for when your mates aren't over is great.
With the open and ease of XBOXLIVE finding the right balance of opponents and skill is going to be awesome.

Gamertag is at the bottom in the sig.

well kristian im definently trying to sell my PS3. it seems every good game for PS3 is either delayed or improved on the 360. not only that but sony looks like the only company that will be making exclusive games on the PS3.

in my opinion 360 will out sell PS3 overall worldwide and the wii is outselling the PS3 in japan big time. i hate to admit it but sony screwed up this time. i look at the upcoming PS3 games and theres few and far between.

by the time game developers take advantage of the PS3's technology itll be too late. the 360 and wii will already have a great library of games. i think sony tried to sell the blue ray instead of making a game console.

after all isnt that why most of us bought the PS3 because its supposedly a game console. if you open a PS3 theres blue ray adds all over in it. sony thought they could sell blue ray to consumers just like they did with the dvd player in the PS2.

most people buy consoles for games sony wake up. alot of people at game stores are telling me the PS3 is the number one returned next gen console by far. good luck sony. sony is losing all there exclusives and there made better on the 360.

also whats with all the firmware updates? most of the updates shouldve been added to the PS3 on launch. same with being able to listen to your own music. you might not think this is a big deal but it is.

alot of people when they decided to interact with the PS3 were disappointed. i guess home will save the PS3. thats what sonys hoping for. will it help with your gaming experience i dont know. i also doubt it. its a way to interact with other sony fanboys i guess.

sony should stop concentrating on selling blue ray and start working with game developers so the PS3 doesnt fail miserably. in my opinion fuck home, sony start working on more exclusive games. im not going to buy a PS3 so that i can interact in a virtual world with sony fans.

thats not why i bought a PS3. the main reason i bought a PS3 is for gaming. the PS2 had a great library and thats why i bought a PS3. thats why most of you probably bought one. lord knows i dont need a blue ray player.

im not going to keep my PS3 for heavenly sword and lair. sorry but 2 games arent worth me keeping my 600 dollar PS3. im looking at the future release dates for PS3 games and i have to say the future doesnt look any better.

sorry for the lack of punctuation and for this being so long.

I say atleast wait until the end of the day to see what E3 brings before you sell anything :p

For me personally there are 2 games I'm looking forward to, Lego Star Wars compilation thingy, and LittleBigPlanet. Lego comes out on every console under the sun I think, and LBP is only on PS3.

On a side note, when did I become such a wienner in my game selection?

    420Gamer4Life Well-Known Member

im pretty sure lego star wars compilation will be on the 360. if its like every other 360 and PS3 game the better version will likely be on the 360. little big planet is cool but i dont think it warrants a PS3 purchase.

the other thing is E3 might announce some PS3 games but you might have to wait a year till there released. also most big name PS3 games are being delayed. lets see what PS3 games are announced for E3 and how long were going to have to wait for them.

lets also see how many more games for the 360 and wii are announced compared to the PS3. im also wondering how many of the games announced for the PS3 will end up being on the 360 with improvements of course.

i guarantee you there are way more games announced for the 360 and wii at E3. im telling you sony just wants put blue ray in every home just like they did with the dvd player in the PS2. im not waitin 2 to 3 years before the PS3 has a decent line up when the 360 already has one.

im looking at the future release dates for PS3 and in my opinion it looks bleek. its going to be a long time till the PS3 gets a good library of games. E3 doesnt meant shit for PS3 games if we have to wait a year or two for a decent library of games.

sony might as well have released the PS3 next year. that way it couldve at least been cheaper. cause right now all i play is VF5 and resistance fall of man. if you have a 360 you have gears of war which is leaps and bounds better than resistance.

the other game VF5 is being made for 360 and of course its improved. wait i can play blue ray movies though and eventually i can interact with other sony fans on home. yea thats exactly why i bought a PS3. not for the games but to watch movies and interact with sony fanboys.

like many others on this board, this is all i care about. an updated version with all the bells and whistles that 360 is getting, aside from online play, is all i really desire.

everyone can argue back and forth about the whole online thing. fact is for me: i don't really care anyways. do i not understand that "oh my god i pissed and shat myself at the same time" feeling about online play? no, i really don't. do i care if other ppl use it? not really.

i'll just take my more items, mix-match costumes, updated practice mode, updated ai, and go to town with that for a while longer.

The same thing happened with the PS2 at the beginning of its life span. It was harder to develop for unlike the dreamcast which had the best launch library in history IMO. Dreamcast I think also better AA in its games just like the 360. Difference is M$ can throw money at developers like Am2 to force them to go online when they said that they never would. I'm not going to sell my PS3 because you never know what can happen when developers start to take full use of the hardware. I'm just waiting for a PS3 patch.

problem is tribal is that a patch for the PS3 is only rumor for now. i wouldnt be suprised if the PS3 version didnt get a patch. think about it how many PS3 games have gotten a patch so far?

then think about all the 360 games that have gotten updates. i hope it happens but like i said i wont be suprised if it doesnt. i myself dont care to much for online play but having an obsolete version of VF5 does bother me.

Aoimaster the problem is how long do we have to wait till the PS3 has a decent library of games? with the 360 you dont have to wait it already has a decent library. your comparing the PS2 with the PS3.

this is microsofts second game console their not the new kid on the block anymore. sony already had a following because of there ps1. the PS3 is a diffrent story. microsoft took a page out of sonys book and released there console first.

sony thought they were so successful pushing dvd players that now they think they can do it with blue ray. in my opinion sony is just trying to sell blue ray players while microsoft is selling a gaming console.

thats the difference in my opinion. sony has gotten such a big head. yea they were successful with the PS2 and its dvd player but that doesnt mean you can sell an expensive blue ray player just cause your sony.

the other thing is this. i paid 300 for my PS2 and 600 for my PS3. most people when they spend 600 on a gaming console expect more than what theyve got so far from sony. us PS3 owners deserve better from sony.

it doesn't mean that vf5 can't have one.

Aoimaster the problem is how long do we have to wait till the PS3 has a decent library of games? with the 360 you dont have to wait it already has a decent library. your comparing the PS2 with the PS3.

the problem you have is that you're comparing a couple month old ps3 to a 360 that's be out for longer than a year. of course it's going to have a larger library, it's been out for much longer. when 360 first came out it didn't have a huge lists of games pouring out for it. not to mention, you also had quite a few games that were still coming out for original xbox, which is essentially the same thing ps2 and ps3 are doing right now.

    Its playstation space for me..

First we have the game right now. We're playing it right now.
Although the Xbox version will have kewl stuff in it., That's future tense. Xbox 360 players are not playing the game right now.
For all we know the delivery date will be delayed again. Sega has a credibility problem right now anyway.

How many times has the release date for the Xbox 360 been moved back?

So while the Xbox crowd are waiting we're playing today. By the time the Xbox version comes out, the next PS3 release won't be far behind. So we're still ahead of the game. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

that's a sacrifice most poor people like me are willing to take mr.poo /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif sure, you get to play vf5 early (while I freeload from you..) but then at the end of the day i would feel like 420gamer, desperately trying to sell his ps3 and trying to get MORE money for anoher console + game + stick. I'll say good choice for those poor people like us that waited. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

its pretty pathetic seeing people jump ship.

if you only bought the PS3 for VF5, that was unwise.

VF5 is not the final version of VF this generation.
I am sure we will see most of the features in the next version for PS3.

Some people give up so easily.

VF4: Final Tuned didn't make it to the PS2. I'm not convinced that VF5: Evo or whatever will make it to the PS3. We've seen both MS and Sony shell out tons of money to 3rd party studios for exclusive content, or for outright game exclusivity for a console. If VF5 really takes off online for the 360, maybe Evo only makes its way to the 360.

Lastly, the differences between the PS3 VF5 and 360 VF5 are massive. I'm not sure even if VF5 gets a re-release or update for the PS3 it will be a mirror version of the 360s. Basically it looks like the X-Box360 is the superior platform for this generation of VF games.

  19. 420Gamer4Life

    420Gamer4Life Well-Known Member

exactly EmpNovA. Djtortilla every game has been superior on the 360 not just VF5. if a game is made for PS3 or 360 im definently getting the 360 version. jump ship, everytime i hear about the PS3 its bad news.

like for example sony losing another exclusive. how many times has that happen now? not only that but the 360 versions of games are also improved over the PS3. everyone is saying the PS3 just came out people give it some time.

well look at the upcoming release of PS3 games. how long did it take for the 360 to get a decent library of games? not long. how long will it take for the PS3? ive had my PS3 since november and i have to say there isnt shit to play.

like i said the only games i play are VF5 and resistance. the rest of the PS3 games arent worth my time. that or there made better on the 360. so you tell me how long will it take for sony to at least have a decent library.

some of you sony fans are way to optimistic. hey at least i can admit i made a mistake buying the PS3. it didnt take the 360 this long to have a good library of games. so dont give me the whole PS3 just came out nonsense.

im also selling my PS3 because i know games released in the future will be better on 360. for example im purchasing unreal tournament 3 and im pretty sure itll be better on the 360.

i wouldnt mind if i paid 300 or even 400 on the PS3 but no i spent 600 dollars on a blue ray player. everyones saying look at the PS2. yea well the PS2 cost alot less too. this is different the difference in number of quality games is substantial.

the reason the PS2 was better than the xbox imo was that it had a better library. this time the 360 has the better library and the superior versions of the same games.

so ive looked up the upcoming release of some of big PS3 games and it looks like its going to be a long time till the PS3 has a library of good games. after lair what other big PS3 game is going to be released next?

yea yea yea i know 360 do break down but at least microsoft will fix your 360 after a year is up. what will sony do for you when your PS3 breaks down after 1 year. theyll make you buy a new PS3 thats what theyll do.

remember how long it took for PS2 to get disc error read. it took a couple of years. so who knows what happens when your PS3 breaks down in a year or two? your going to be left with a broke PS3. then your screwed.

sony wont repair your PS3 after a year. the last thing some of you are saying wait for the PS3 in two or three years itll make its mark. why do i have to wait 2 to 3 years if i spent 600 on a gaming console.

i have to wait for developers to tap into the PS3's full potential. sony shouldve made it easier for game developers to make games for the PS3 easier right off the bat.

now sony decides to make tools so its easier for developers to make games. shouldve been done along time ago sony. sony is just riding on there popularity of the PS1 and PS2. theyve gotten big heads.

they think well just make another playstation console and itll sell. im also hearing microsoft is paying other game companies to make the games better on 360. yea well its not like sonys poor.

what you dont understand about sony is that its the microsoft of japan. sonys a huge company that made there own console just to take nintendos share of the gaming market. so now microsoft is doing just what sony did.

so sony does have money to throw at game developers. their just stingy. sorry sony but japanese gamers dont reflect the rest of the world.

just cause your a japanese game company and your country is supporting your console doesnt mean the rest of the world should. i know 360 is failing in japan but the wii is still out selling the PS3 in japan.

in the end it seems like the PS3 is catering to its japanese fanbase way too much. what about the rest of the world sony have you forgot about us?

PS3 might be bigger than 360 in japan but in my opinion microsoft at least cares about its consumers worldwide. sony has the mindset of if its good enough for the japanese consumer then its good enough for the rest of the world.

for example yea arcades work in japan but not so much outside of japan. with the PS3 i feel like i own a console made for gamers in japan. the PS3 was made with japanese consumers in mind and you can really tell.

sony doesnt care about its fanbase outside of japan. well at least with it seems that way with the PS3. if it works for japanese consumers then itll work for any consumer. thats sonys mindset for the PS3.

just cause it works for japanese gamers in japan doesnt mean its going to work for the rest of us. stop trying to cater to just your japanese fanbase sony thats all i ask.

yea japanese gamers in japan might buy the PS3 cause its made by a japanese company. their going to support the PS3 just because its made by sony a japanese company.

that doesnt mean the rest of the world should support sony. especially when they only cater to there japanese fanbase. like i said whatever sonys japanese fanbase wants out of its console is what we the rest of the world has to settle for.

what sony doesnt get is that we as consumers shouldnt have to settle for whats good for them is good for us mentality. just because the PS3 might work well for consumers in japan doesnt mean itll work for the rest of the world.

sorry everyone for the long post and lack of punctuation.
