I could honestly wait until summer of 2007 for the game. I really ejoyed the quest and kumite modes in VF4 and VF4 EVO, and hope that they have something like that for VF 5 for PS3. My idea this time is to pull players from around the world and register there character intelligences into the game. SEGA could come to the VFDC to pick certain players. You got to admit it would be cool to have your character intelligence in the game.
On a weird side note I've played VF3 in the past, and on the character stat screen for Aoi the save file they use for her says PS2 maybe that's why Taka isn't in any of the sequals, is because he wasn't forecasted to be, or it was SEGA's weird way of stating how they would be exiting the hardware bussiness.
PS3 Freaking expensive ughh!!!! But it is so worth it for VF5.
I want to play it in the arcade before I play it on the home system. If it comes to any arcade in the US someone should let us know. I'm guessing that it would show up at gameworks in Vegas just a guess.

Horrible news. The PS3 is not something I can afford anytime soon (joys of real life, eh?), and really has no compelling reason for me to buy one until the price hits the $200 range for the good one, not the value/chump one. Sorry, Blu-Ray isn't interesting, not going to get HD anytime soon, and have no real reason to do so (don't watch TV much, even). Hell, will I even be able to use my stick with it?

And a VF for 360 being a bad idea financially is doesn't hold water with me. Let's face it, a VF could very *easily* move 360's, and 3d fighters are a weak spot in the Xbox library. It would be in Microsoft's best interests to finance a 360 version of VF - how much money did they blow on Rare? How much does MS have in the bank? C'mon, it's pocket change for them.

I'd bet money that Sony got to Sega and offered a sweet deal for exclusivity. Simple as that. Sony doesn't need VF for credibility in Japan, Microsoft does, so by preventing them from getting a version keeps ensures the 360 retains its trash value in Japan. MS only needs to have a version, not an exclusive, to be more attractive. Microsoft should've tried getting VF onboard as soon as the Dreamcast died.

Oh, and while I'm not fond of it, doesn't DOA sell relatively well for an Xbox/XB360 game in Japan? If that's still the case, the number of DOAs sold is limited by the number of systems sold. Bad move MS - a DOA exclusive is nice (how much are they giving Tecmo for that, I wonder), but VF would've been a LOT smarter. Of course, maybe its because of the DOA exclusive they can't play ball with Sega (either it turns off Sega or they risk pissing off Tecmo).

      At least I've got Evo.

And if you're gonna wait until the PS3 drops to $200...have fun with Evo for many years still /versus/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Hey, I'll play whatever you pay for. Besides, check me out on Frapper - it's not like I'll have anyone else to play with /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Seriously though. I simply don't have that kind of disposable income anymore. If I want something in that price range, I'm going to have to save for it, and at that price, it's competing with a new car downpayment (hybrid!), my retirement IRA, getting my savings worked up, paying for gas ( :p )or other big-money (but actually life enriching) things like going back to Japan or England, maybe even going back to school. Hell, it's competing with me getting a new Intel Power Mac (hope they come out soonish), and I can actually make money using that (I'm in Print/Publishing, and that's a Mac dominated industry - getting Quark 7 as soon as it comes out). But any money from that is already prioritized...

Sigh...yeah, looks like I will be stuck on Evo (and my 2d fighters) for a while /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

But I'll let you buy me a PS3/VF5 combo, or even a Wii to help tide me over...

I'm a student, so I can't say I can easily pay for it either, but I will since I think it's worth it in perhaps a year or maybe two depending on where in the world I am at that time.

      Try this:

      Buy VF5.
Play it at a friend's house.

My friends and I pretty much had all the systems between us (Gamecube, PS2, Xbox, etc), so there was no need for everyone to have all the systems, or even have a system at all. Worked out fine.

Have fun in school! I'd go back if I could ^_^

      Luddie
That does sound like a plan, actually ^_^
I'm sure there's someone I know who's getting the system before me, so I think I'll do that.
I'll try to have fun on my exam today /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I got a plan, cutting down on little stuff and seeing them add up until launch of PS3 or release of VF5,
may apply to some of you wish to save and cut down on crap

      -stop buying Coca-Cola
-stop going to work late and having to pay for parking (if i get there early, i can find spots)
-stop eating out twice a day
      -don't buy DVDs that I won't watch
-don't buy Online multi-player games that people at work say they will play but end up never being there to play with
      -don't hit any potholes
-stop always treating the ladies on dates (make them pay their share, it's 2006!)

with this plan, i'm sure I will be able to save some money for next spring

/versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif gotta love magazines!!! this reminds of IGN's speculative release dates list...
IGN still had VF5 as a TBA game for the 360 on the day that Sega officially anounced the PS3 exlcusivness.

I hope no one here bought a 360 just for VF5 - thinking it was going to be comming for it.

Yeah, I received that issue by mailorder a few days before E3 and the announcement was made. I can cross my fingers that Sony only made a period exclusive deal with Sega all I like but really, it just doesn't seem likely that Xbox 360 will get VF5.

I'm going to start saving a little bit of cash each month till release in the UK so that I can better cope with the hole this inevitable purchase will leave in my finances.

Here is a crazy idea for a game mode that they could throw in VF5. What if they had matches where instead of taking damage from the opponents you would get points due to where you put the opponent in the ring. The sides of the arena would be worth 10 pts., walls 15pts., corners 25pts., and ring outs 50pts.. The winner would be decided at the end of a 60 second round.
I have a few thoughts on this myself.
      * Would it be cheap with certain players like Wolf, Akira, and Kage (fighters with distance advantage throws).
*It sounds kind of like Greco Roman Wrestling point scoring system.
*It sounds like they would have to put Taka-Arashi back in the game since part of Sumo Wrestling is about ring manipulation.
What does everyone else think about this idea?
Hopefully we as the VF community can think of ideas for VF5 that will make the purchase worth it. It is innovation after all that makes game companies go forward, and the gamer's to buy the games!!!
    15. THE_WALL
      THE_WALL
A little side note to the previous comment. On the point scoring system. For doing a wall break then ring out 75pts, and for doing a mid level wall ring out 100 pts.
I meant to say the PS3 and VF5 worth purchasing(of course VF5 is worth the purchase). What ever happened to the rumor that the PS3 would only play the games that were first put into it? That would definately be a bummer if that remained to be true.

I don't remember where or when that came up. The news said that once a new game disc was placed into a PS3, something would be written to it so it only worked in that particular PS3.

That would definitely suck like a professional prostitute.
But this idea of points for places on ring. Quite good. It would need some more planning and thinking, but I find it to be a funny idea to make the game more attractive (i.e. for the newcomers).

      Re: the wall

Back on the points scoring idea how about just 1-6 pts. for the different places you would put opponents in the ring or out of the ring (it would make it easier for the programmers). Oh yeah on that PS3 rumor is anyone 100% Sure that it will recognize the games on more than one PS3, and what is your source?
