VF5 VS Final Showdown

On graphics, the textures on Final Showdown for console were scaled down because of space restrictions for downloadable games on Xbox Live, if I recall.

That accounts for the lack of fidelity and how the game generally looks worse (on console) than vanilla.

The lack of attract mode and other bells and whistles from the arcade VF5FS (man, I wish we had those character intros in character select!) also contributes.

That said, I will not disagree with the comments that Vanilla had design-wise much more interesting and active things happening in the background. I still think FS looks great and especially after playing the arcade version, I feel that way. But much of what looks great in FS is on the characters, maybe by design.

Loving the FS soundtrack more and more as time goes by. But VF5 soundtrack was pretty awesome, imo.

Was this the interview at PAX two years ago or was this around the time the game came out? I remember Syzygy saying at PAX it would look like the arcade. But I believe later material, around a year ago from now, was mentioning they had to work with the limits of space on XBL (though that would have also brought up the issue for why the costumes are on separate downloads).

 

so yeah vanilla looked better
