hey for the guys that have played online..

Can you use custom outfits when fighting rivals online? I would assume the answer would be yes but I've yet to see online matches that show anything besides the standard costumes so i've been getting a bit worried.

Yes, you can use your customized character and his customized costumes. Man, I've seen some really ugly combinations of costumes when playing online ...

my god, has anyone come up against a guy called 'lille dk 3'? his gamertag says he's from denmark and he plays lei fei. he's racked up over 278 games already with a 93% win ratio!

met him 3 times already and i'm keen to defeat him. one of the most aggressive players i've met...gives you absolutely no room and will rush every time. i'm constantly getting stuck in a low punch game with him and find it very frustrating to break him open. he will evade almost all my linear attacks.

I saw this Kage Player who had a similar 90 something % ratio, I played him, and he so damn hard, omg, he contstantly spammed high punch combo and low punches and kicks.

And I hate the Lei Fei players online, they just do move after move, and it's so hard to get a move in on them, much less even try to grab them.

hmmm i have to wait till christmas or so until I play.(lacking on money now) Glad to see mainly good responses for vf5 online. I personally thought it would be bad. And competitions always good. Its good to fight good players.

and yea lei fei is hard to deal with. He has alot of quick recovery moves especially the punches.

it isn't linked mate, i just added the info to my vf.com profile. i'll update it whenever i can be bothered /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

imho, lei fei is one of those characters that, if played well, you must learn to evade. very few of his moves are throw counterable and his staces limit your options when counter attacking.

online, he does seem to be the choice character for cheesy button spammers. having said that, the danish player i mentioned above does play him very well.

edit: one thing i just discovered...if you go onto vf tv and select rankings you can actually see everyone's ranked online score by selecting the vs match filter. the dude i just mentioned is currently 3rd! i'm currently 52nd.

the things is, these scores are a bit deceptive as i noticed this danish dude is only 2nd dan despite playing and wining hundreds of matches. what that means is must be actively seeking low rank players to fight against to keep his win/loss ratio high. my choosing quick match you can actualy see the stats of each player and decide whether or not to fight them....that's pretty cheap on his part /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I'm loving it but I have trouble pulling off a lot a moves with the controller. Only character I have no problems with at all is Eileen. Feel kinda discouraged.

I would buy an arcade stick but I don't know any store that has any. ugh.

thanks, was good practicing with you and learning some of eileen's techniques in the process. i never felt a bit of lag while we were sparring...the connection was as good, if not better, than i've had with some of my uk based friends.

I can't remember where I read this but can someone confirm something for me. Is it true you can't give yourself an online ring name? Instead your forced to use your gamertag! Lastly... No PR message is displayed? Can any of you kind folk who already have the game confirm these things for me. Not being able to have a PR kind of makes the game lose some of it's special flare. It would be just sad that they get so many things right and yet managed to screw up many more. Well here is to hoping I read that wrong somewhere.

    sadly, you're not wrong.

Ringname is your gametertag and no PR for some strange reason

No PR in online mode basically means that feature is useless. My guess is the PR didn't make the cut online because SEGA figured that some idiot on Xbox live would write something to offend others(seeing how theirs no censorship with the PR).

The strange reason is prolly the funny guy that would say "I went balls deep on your mom" in his PR.

It's not just VF, but other games too. WWE SvR07 doesn't allow custom characters having text or designs on their costume to be played online. Only tattoo options are allowed, but those can not really be customized and are very limited. Takes the "flair" out of created custom characters.

Interesting thing with WWE SvR07, the PS2 version DOESN'T censor these things! Anything goes!

You're right. How about the option to use your gamercard moto as PR? Similar to what doa4 did with the motto.

Who freakin cares about PR? Not having some tagline kills online mode? Some of you guys have problems with the dumbest things. THEY FREAKIN PUT ONLINE IN THE GAME! WAKE UP!
