VF5FS Akira - Overpowered??

Your right about that. i was only able to pull it off 40% of the time. i buffered it but the frames are too tight to pull off consistently. my writs hurt just trying it few time

I'd like proof of anyone blocking a -18 move and punishing with Yoho. As far as I'm convinced it's not happening. Whiff punish... perhaps, but nothing on block. It's KNEE or bust!

 

For argument's sake, you can punish -18 sweeps with , but it's extremely impractical. You block a low with instead of , enter , then release . One fluid motion. Dojo it.

 

I know the theory. What I want is for someone to SHOW me or else it's still just a theory.

Well, I dojoed it and while it's true that holding 3 and then pressing 3 gets you a CD you can't actually do 33 moves this way. I tried both Goh and Akira 33P while punishing a sweep, while just going from holding 3G and even from just holding 3. I also tried buffering 3+G~3+P.

All results were the same, 3P.

I just tried and got it the second time.

I recorded it with my phone (no capture device) but Mister has offered to do a better version (video quality and editing) of it.

What I did was:

Akira vs Jacky

My input on the screen
record Jacky doing P > 1K+G > G
play it
with Akira i block the sweep with 3G > release everything > 3P

To prove that Jacky was blocking I immediately replay the Jacky's recording and this time with Akira I did:

2G (block the sweep) > 46P+K

Because Akira's 46P+K is 19 frames Jacky is able to guard it.

It's not impractical just not reliable because you must not block low preemptively.
You have to do it quite late like when you REALLY react to something.
And then you have to be fast to input 3P to avoid the extra 1 frame of delay.

Skill wise it's easier than the knee but less reliable.
The knee requires more skill but when you master it is more consistent.

As soon as Mister has the video ready I/he will post it. (worst case scenario I'lI upload my phone video)

 

wtf, I did my tests exactly vs Jacky 1K+G and I tried late guarding it too. I'd say I'm more consistent with even just 2G into an actual 33P buffer.
Heck, I couldn't even do a RAW 3+G->3P so that it would produce 33P. I'd like to see this in action now myself. Getting 33P with Goh on sweeps would be a nice upgrade from 4K.

Awesome! Hats off to all the dojo freaks who pulled this off against a dummy that's telegraphing the move.

Now the final test to make me a believer is to pull this off in a match. Preferably in a FT5 or FT10 and punish a -18 move at least 2-3 times where you don't know it's coming. I'm pretty sure it will not happen.

Everybody did say it is extremely impractical. The best I could do myself was twice in a row in dojo. Dojo-only stuff I say.
