The video does not automatically load until you click play. The only thing that does load is the preview image.

Myke, while the video does indeed not load, the flash player is nevertheless loaded into system memory. So if there are a bunch of vids embedded in a single page it can hog valuable system resources on older computers. I should know, mine dates from the past millenium. Take a look at my posts, it's not an accident i've never used the embed function when i posted a video link, it just cripples my PC.

The solution i posted above will replace the flash player itself with the preview image. The flash player is not loaded into memory, allowing slower PCs to maintain decent memory usage while browsing embed-fests such as this thread [IMG]

EDIT: don't get me wrong, the embed function is a cool feature, it makes for a smooth forum-browsing experience! I'm using another PC ATM and i'm really enjoying it [IMG]

erdraug, I already know that the player is loaded into memory and can degrade the performance on some older machines. I was specifically replying to Empnova's statement "having my browser slow down to load a video" and wanted to clarify that embedded videos are do not automatically load nor play until the user requests it.

So basically, the increase in window size that I recently introduced should have negligible impact to one's browsing experience because the overhead associated with the embedded player hasn't actually changed.

Oh, that, yeah, definetly, the window size has nothing to do with it [IMG]

I interpreted EmpNovA's question as "By the way, speaking of embedded videos, is there a way to..." and not as "Ouch, everything is slower now, is there a way to..."

So we are both right i guess, just talking about different stuff [IMG] A common case of mutual mis-understanding on the internet. I suggest EmpNova's question & this awkward conversation be split to it's own thread for reference.

really nice match here... loved the way that Kage player was moving. Is R faster than vanilla 5? Seems like it...

@2:20 has anyone seen that wall throw by Goh before? I haven't. I'm wondering if they removed his half-fence wall throw where he jumped onto the fence and stomped the opponent's face - haven't seen that throw in ages!

It's one of his high fence wall throws. Why it's showing up on that stage, I don't know; maybe a bug.

Edit: Another possibility is that it may be a different throw with a different command. Looks goofy to slam their head into thin air in either case.

Even though this video is 9:44 long, there's only one match. The remainder of the video is a black screen (probably an editing oversight).

I love the super delay with dash, dash, crouch dash, dash before the final winning hit.

Not a bug. In VF5R all regular wall throws can now be done on half fences. Same goes for wall attacks.

That's possible, and yeah, it looks kinda goofy.

What is up with Fudou's rank? Do you have to win a tourney to get one or just rank up high enough? There is a guy at the local arcade with a similar looking rank (displayed in the blue circle).

Is there something wrong with the Lindberg model hardware that arcade operators cannot capture in HD?

I don't think I've seen a tournament outside of Sega's official ones where the arcade was capturing live feeds of HD VF5R. Poppy and Arcadia capture footage in 4:3 and play the game in older model cabs like Astro or Versus.

I've only seen Sega actually split HD VF5R video and output it live for matches like during OH or KS or whatever.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the Lindberg hardware.

Struggling game centers probably can't afford the new cabinets with the widescreen flat panel displays. As such, the Lindberg hardware is outputting to 4:3 CRT displays, and so this is what they end up capturing.

Then why has Arcadia used versus city or astro style cabinets for VF5 and HD cabinets for games like SFIV, T6BR, and Blazblue for Super Battle Opera?

Why would they stick VF5 in old cabinets and use 4:3 output but capture all other newer games in 16:9 and down convert the video to fit the DVDs?

There must be something odd about the Lindberg model compared to other games that output in HD.

Maybe games like SF4, T6BR, and BB don't have have an option to be used with an old cabinet/display, so Arcadia (or whomever) have no choice but to run these games (and hence capture) at 16:9 HD.

Does any of this really matter?

    Decent match from Ogi's channel

    HighKick (Jeffrey) vs Kamaage (Akira)

New Jeffry win pose... well at least I have never seen it before.
