    I love watching Ebi Goh's matches as he always seems to save exciting replays. Anyway, just FYI, that Juumonji mid kick reversal combo has been around since VF4, except now in VF5 you can do a standing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif instead of /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif.

    Hmm. I wonder if it has been given old bodycheck-like distance-dependent-damage or something.

    Although, Im not too happy. Its one more step in 'dumbing down' Akira by making his inputs essentially easier again. No longer /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif~/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif

    Single palm has always had distance dependent damage.

    And I hardly see the change as a dumbing-down since ordinarily you don't get the free knockdown on any hit that Single palm-elbow gave, and so Akira doesn't get a free ticket to ukemi/okizeme. Instead he must face a still standing and pushed back opponent.

    But it's kinda funny, and maybe ironic, how you don't like this apparent dumbing-down, but were one of the strongest advocates for wanting Akira to have a full circular. LOL /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shocked.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

    As much as I'd like to see Akira with a full circular I'll have to say it just shouldn't happen. He would be way to strong. What I would like to see though is his half circulars execute in 16-17 frames as opposed to 19 frames. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif and / or give 46P special high properties. I think Akira should be granted at least 1 special high move to stop abusive pokes like Shun's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif when he is at a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif advantage.

    Doesn't he have plenty of mids/lows that do the trick? What advantage does a special high move have that mids don't?

    play akira and then go play Denkai, Jhow, MasaRed, None Other or any other competent Shun and see the annoying power that /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif has even on a +4 advantage... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif can have a hard time of reaching and sometimes the kick goes under it. I have even tried middle kick and it can go under that as well.

    Shun's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is -16 Blocked, -10 on NH, and -6 on CH. It does 10 damage. 10 damage, man. The CH modifier gives it, what, a total of 15? So what if it goes under mids?

    As you describe above, that's annoying at best.

    Shun's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif beats out special highs too /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif

    Then again, a lot of stuff beats out special highs. Like Lei's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, just wtf.

    At +4 adv though, won't Akira's knee just rape the low kick? (Ground scraping and all).

    Just tested this, works great. I tried everything to beat out shun's 2k but forgot about KNEE doh.

    Gonna be useful cause Shun players love to throw out 2k whenever they are at disadvantage.

    Lots of his mids simply whiff due to having cracked-up hitboxes. The ones that dont are slow as life. He has no lows other than /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif.

    It would just be evaded and Akira comboed... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/tired.gif

    Besides Shun can do just /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ub.gif_/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif for same effect as /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif.

    Also, at +4 his knee loses to punches.

    I meant in terms of inputs.

    We're talking about knee vs Shun's low kick, not knee vs evade, or knee vs /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif or whatever. You're never going to get one solution to everything in a neat package.

    And yes, the knee is punishable when evaded, most characters launchers are...

    Yeah, but there is thing called beating multiple options with one move. Certain characters have it, others don't.

    So you need a move that launches, is safe on evade (or tracks everything) and scrapes the ground as well as being at most 16 frames before you're happy?

    No. I would settle for a 14 frame mid that actually hits my opponent.

    edit: Its not so much about what Akira has. Its more about what certain OTHER characters have. I wouldnt mind having some of those toned down.

    edit edit: lets get back to enjoying movies.

    thanks for all the input... I'll add them to my arsenal. Sucks how Manji is right though... while some characters struggle to create options other character have 1 tool that beats down EVERYTHING! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ub.gif / /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif

    Gotta love how easy it is when you have an infinite supply of get out of jail free cards.
