    TRAINING MODE
I know this has been said somewhere. But man, give us a better training mode. How do they expect people that are just picking this game up to compete at all against most of the people here and wherever that's been playing VF for 5-10+ years and what not when they don't even teach you about simple things like fuzzy gaurding, doing multiple throw escapes with and without evading or how to escape low and ground throws? How to evade attacks, why you did and didn't evade a half circular attack, and not being able to evade full circulars. And peple wonder why there are so many noobs/people that aren't the best in teh world, or people that play with certain tactics (that people don't approve of) online, cause we don't know what the hek is going on. And with no proper tool to teach you about the game, you do what works for you cause you maybe constantly asking yourselves questions like, why does low punch beat everything? (lol) How do I beat that? I evading his/her first move of a string, why did I get hit when I tried to hit em back? How did they get up so quick right when they hit the ground (c'mon now, they don't even teach you how to tech roll)? How are they moving around like that? The list goes on. And who wants to sit there asking about how to do this that and the other? I know I don't.

I hear all this greatness about VF4's training mode and it kinda boggles me that they would take something that usefull out. I have the hardest time defending against characters strings, even the simplest of strings cause I don't know what's coming out next, high, low, mid, half or full circular? Why they don't have it to where you can have the cpu do a certain string over and over so you can learn how to defend against it is, I guess crazy is the word.

Have a situation where the cpu knocks you down and goes for a ground throw so you can learn how to escape it. Have the cpu tell you to do x move that leaves you crouched and vunerable for a low throw and escape it.

They need to have things like that in all of the VF's imo. Not everybody has played VF23 and mainly 4 (correct me if i'm wrong but 4 is the one with a training mode thing).

So now you got people walking into stores or rental spots seeing "VF5 Online", they think "Sweet, this looks pretty cool, a fighting game i've never heard of/played, or played a lil bit long ago in an arcade. Oh cool, a dojo thing". Teaches you how to do all your characters moves but (correct me if i'm wrong) not really teaching you how to play VF. So they jump online and play some people that are 5-10+ years (or even 1-2 years) deep into VF, and are moving around like crazy, escaping mad throws, evading, making you crumple, poking the hel out of you and doing nasty combos to you. And you're wondering how to do all that but there's nothing that can teach this to you. You're not even taught how to do a basic bounce combo. Now how the hek are these new people supposed to compete and want to play against all these players that have so much knowlegde with this lack of training?

If they had a better training thing I think more people that played VF5 would have stayed playing it. Escaping a throw or a low throw, evading and succesfully attacking, fuzzy gaurding, doing ETEG can bring a players morale up high and give them the feeling that they can stand a chance and learn to play better, and also make the game feel a lot better when you're able to do these advanced things. Or at least know these things exist.

    MORE PEOPLE PLAYING BEGGINERS
And hopefully the person you're playing will keep playing you so you (in genral) can practice these things and see advanced tactics and pressure at work, it makes me so upset sometimes when someone only plays and beats me a few times in a row and bounces only to see them hosting again. Yet these same people want to play someone better than them to help them get better, well what do you think the people you're whoopin on and asking for rematches is trying to do? BUT, all bs aside, who am I or anyone to say "You have to keep playing me cause I hit the rematch button" or get upset cause x peron stopped playing you after a few matches, that's not right to get so hot cause of that, really, that only makes a person (or me personaly)want to get better so I can do the same shit to them lol. But if you want a bigger n better community that's what it takes, play against these noobs asking for rematches. When I first started I jumped right into ranked and played nothing but highly ranked players like 789-10th Dans and people with named ranks. And all the moves I really knew how to do was the dash elbow and that double kick thing Akira has. Simply cause I wanted to see how good players were playing this game. I'm honestly suprised i'm even playing this game, I played this game for 45minutes and didn't play it for a week after that. I don't know what it was but for some crazy reason I came back n stuck with it ever since. Ended up buying a stick n all that (which i'm for real going to burn and put it on youtube whenever I get a new one, that dam thing has caused me so much bs moments it's crazy).

But anyways, yea, play begginers (or people not as skilled as you) online a lil more if they ask for a rematch. They obviously want to get better or see you do more of your stuff. That could possibly keep em intrested in VF. Obviously I would rather play people better than me too, but if a begginer/noob joins my player session, i'll keep playing him/her till they quit. So what I try to do is make em want to quit, I do my best to bum rush the shit out of them and not let them do anything and just tear em up with nasty combos and moving all around, even after rounds. Just to show them what is possible and what can be done in this game (even though moving around is mostly flashy, but it does look good and make the game look faster). It usually takes about 5 matches or so before they leave, sometimes they even say thanks for playing and send a friend request, and that lets me know right there they want to get better and thrown into situations that force that. And there's people that do the same for me, they'll kick my ass like crazy and still play me for a while. I understand a person can't play for hours but throwing down a good session with someone lesser skilled than you is a pretty cool thing to do.

Even though it may not help your game much, it is helping theirs and isn't that what this community wants? More and better players? And doin that may also in turn get them to get their friends playing or letting others know bout this game which in the end will help you out too by bringing in more players.

You'd have to have a pretty strong will to keep playing or do something that no one else wants to do with you just because you're not good enough. But things like that happen every where with all games and other stuff. It takes a community to make a good one. If every one that's good is walking around with their nose up in the air like their shit don't stank, a lot of newer people aint really going to want to stick around. Imagine going to Japan and when you put in your qaurter or whatever and people see you're not too great, they all up and leave that machine right away. That leaves you kinda f'd up and you can't (or is very hard) to get better cause no on better than you wants to play you.

Sigh...See what no Xbox live will do to ya, I honestly dislike posting shit.

Anyways, that's my VF6 wishes. Better training mode, teach people how to play the dam game! teaching how to do moves is cool but it's not enough for VF. How do we defend these moves, how can we escape em, show it's possible to escape more than one throw at a time or that it's possible to escape low and ground throws, can x move be countered, evaded or deflected? VF5 doesn't teach any of this so like I said earlier, how are people supposed to compete and get better? I think there would be a lot of better players around and people actually sticking to the game if VF5 had the VF4 training mode plus some extra shit. I know i'd be a lot better than I am right now if I could practice all this stuff. But the only way right now to learn how to block and escape certain moves and see what you can do during certain situations is by going online and waiting and waiting for the moment to rise and hopefully you can react quick enough, if you're lucky, having someone offline to help.

And more people to play begginers. I know it's tough but hey, just beat the mess out of them, don't give em an inch. When some rookie comes to the NBA or a playground and that person is on defense, people don't pass the ball around em. You get one of your best players and go at his azz, try to cross the shit out him, dunk on em n all that, and if he can't hang or stop you, you keep going at em. So just beat the shit out of these rookies and people less skilled than you. And if after a lil while they're still asking for more then hey, you just found another VF player.

    *End rant* Peace!

Tha_FeauchA, I think everyone has the same ideas on training mode ever since the PS3 version was released. But as for playing against more beginners, this has nothing to do with a "VF6 wishlist" [IMG] and can start happening/improving right now. I like this idea.

Kamais, please save us your mental spew of "wow so big!" if you have nothing useful to add, especially if your attention span struggles to read the entire post.

p.s. Kamais, do not reply to this post.

I will keep it simple, I want to hear news on any official version of VF whether it be R or VF6 coming out at at a certain time that is reliable.

What is in the game will be there and we will have to live with it regardless good or bad.

Exactly. Even a terrible port (like the PS3 version) or an outdated version (XBOX-360) is still something to play. Considering how much Sega refuses to do anything with VF outside of Japan I wouldn't be shocked if VF6 is arcade only for years (like things used to be with FGs).

With 4FT and now 5R...how about they finally give timetables for console releases or do a region locked version for America/Europe and no release in Japan. Or at least allow for international arcade models that aren't VF.NET DRM locked or whatever.

A wish list of training mode and online play is nothing compared to having to simply ask for the game.

I want AI that continues to fight or attack your dead body instead of freezing or stopping mid combo when the round is over. Makes the AI seem more lively IMO.

I personally would like better AI (like VF4 Evo), the mission training mode from 4 and Evo, possibly some multi-tiered stages back from VF3, as well as more well-designed costumes. Maybe, y'know, go the Namco path and get custom-made costumes from famous artists. And 2 more styles wouldn't be bad, I'd personally like to see another animal style (doesn't matter what), and maybe Kenpo or Tai Chi, y'know, something we don't see in 3D fighters every day. And have it realistically represented, unlike MK's renditions of the styles. Also, some catchier music and more dialogue would be nice. The VF characters need to use more realistic language, like maybe a swear or two, and change Lion's voice altogether... Possibly one last thing that would be good is a sort-of VF history like the Tekken Arcade History feature on Tekken 5, where you can play classic VF games.
Yeah, a slightly lengthy post, but IMO, these would be some good features for a VF6, although... Wasn't it decided that there was only gonna be 5 (sans updates/revisions)?
Oh, one more thing- They should just release 5R as DLC! That way, it'd cost a lot less, and it'd be a lot easier to get, kinda like SF4 Championship Mode!

VF DEFINITELY needs a training mode ATLEAST on par with SF's challenge mode.

and with the character string thing, you could have a challenge mode thing where u have to go through character strings and guard everything. You could get cash to buy your items in quest mode with it too.

also run through a training mode that shows all those things feaucha mentioned such as fuzzy guard, tech rolling (BIG ONE HERE, its a basic move ffs), the wonders of dmpk and evading, how to PROPERLY use offensive move (i still dont rele get it lol and only use it to close the distance fast), sabakis (The sabakis arent even listed in the move list, also should mention if a move makes you go below highs etc).

theres plenty more things that need to be added.

I would like a character originating from the middle east or southern asia (India, Pakistan etc). And please no bear ffs -.- tekken is for that

AND HMMM, maybe more ending, intros, and chosable ones (Like with SF)

I'd like an Irish Character named Shane McGowan who uses leprechaun style. He should sing songs for his entrance and win poses. He should also drink Bushmills and accumulate drink points like Shun.

    Quoted for truth.

If they don't want to anger the powerful McGowan's, am2 could just make him the long lost Irish relative of Pai and Lau & name him Lepre Chan. You may sacrifice authenticity. Perhaps. But Sega would rivet the "VF needs a good story" crowd.

Fucking if Jeffry beats up the leprechaun, he scores a pot of gold to build his boat to find the devil shark!

Shun gets a drinking buddy & incidentally this potentially illuminates why Shun is Lau's teacher. (Watch the VF cartoons you noobs)

    This is a sound plan.

edit: Holy shit I just realized what would happen if leprechaun style and Koen Ken ever merged. Armafuckingeddon that's what. You know that Lei Fei is gonna want to rock Lau slowly to death so he can have the style for himself. And El Blaze is not going to like that a shorter dude has made the tournament.

They should give him a stance. When you see a mutherfucker bust this:

Bring back the challenges from VF4Evo!!! If you did something during the match (i.e.- ring out, 5 hit combo, etc...) you would get an item or an orb...

They should also allow you to change the color of an item, instead of buying a bunch of the same thing just to change the color... That will allow extra space for other items for Sega to release. Maybe buying a skin palette option would be good as well, instead of buying dark, light, and other colors (just make it so that the player truly earned it).

In conjunction with the above mentioned, there should be a tier type clothing you can unlock buy doing certain things in the game. For example, there could be tier 1 items that everyone can buy, but once you make a certain rank, or win a certain tournament in quest mode, you can unlock another set of clothing. That will eliminate the boredom of making money in the game, and not having anything to buy. That will make players comeback to quest mode, because new items will keep coming constantly. This should also affect the online aspect as well. By winning (or losing) matches, you get money (or item/orb in some cases) to buy new things for your character. This could also lead to unlocking classic songs and stages as options as well, or variations of certain stages...

Online tournaments would be a blast also, in which the winner would get a gangload of money, or a special item that you can only get by competing in a tourney and winning.

I guess for the casual, and those that like VF4Evo, they should bring back those other modes of play, like the Hyper Mode.

I apologize if the stuff I rammbled on about was already mentioned... My brain stays in overdrive...

Those are some good ideas, I can see where you're coming from. I think that besides pre-made costumes, they should have, say, a costume F (since 5R has E) where you can build a character from scratch, like, have all of the customization options available with a palette changer and such, and maybe even throw in selectable quotes and poses.
I'm also agreeing with the idea of online tournaments. One, for prizes and recognition, but two for those of us (like me) who can't travel to real tournaments, and could just participate from their own home.
And yes, Hyper Mode is a VERY good idea, it actually kept my brother playing Evo, and he's not a VF player at all. They should throw in some more fun match styles, like maybe a Ring-Outs-only match, or even a Team Battle from 3tb.

I think what would also help is if the VFnet expanded further into XBL/PSN, and allow certain matches to be uploaded/downloaded to/from their servers. Or even better, if they had some sort of "mystery viewer", in which certain matches they view as match vid worthy were to be uploaded to their servers and shared for everyone to see... Tutorials and other insights would be downloaded from there as well... That might be a bit much, but its something to think about in the near future.

  18. CRASHEM8000

    CRASHEM8000 Well-Known Member

Yeah, I completely agree. The VF.Net feature on VF5 isn't very expansive at all. They should also give out messages and updates to people, and maybe even have a feature where people worldwide could watch a particular match, live, like Forza 2's feature. I can't really think of anything else, though, other than what's already been said. Maybe a better Arcade Mode (or even a story mode) where it details the characters' exploits against J6, or an online Quest Mode, where you'd go to lobbies and fight people online until you rank up and all like offline, and have an online store with extra items for your characters you couldn't get offline. That's all I can think of, though XD

I can't gauruntee anything, but I think it's safe to say we all know what's in the final game will be how it is wether it be good or bad like you said. And that we would all like to have or know when VF5R or VF6 (whichever comes first) will be ready to be on consoles.

But this thread is called "VF6 wishes", which simply means when VFR or 6 comes out what would you (in general) like to see in it.

Yea, I guess having people play begginers more isn't a VF6 wish and can start happening now [IMG] That'd be a good thing, nothing wrong with playing a quick 10-20 with someone less skilled. No matter the skill level we all want to play someone better than ourselves for a lil more than 1-2 matches.

Bunch of cool ideas up in here.
