Maybe Hillary Clinton will be a playable character.

DM is awesome. DMPK adds nothing to the game except a retarded panic button. And it can totally turn a match around. Offline, it is annoying. Online it gets buffed and rules XBL. The last time I played much rank, to try and get my friend's rank up, there were all these players I had never played before and they all spammed DMPK. They were actually hard to beat with the char I was playing. Mix 2p and DMPK at small to mid dis and the game becomes much harder for your opponent (and extremely tedious).

Really the only argument one can make for it is "DMPK rules. Fucking trying to predict what my opponent will do!"

I think that Sega needs to address the issue of hitboxes in VF6. There has been some wonky hitboxes in VF and I would like for all of them to make sense. Another thing would to be to include a training mode the caliber of which was in VF4: Evolution.

Personally, I think it would be a good idea to change the animations for a lot of moves and the sound effects that go along with them too. They don't seem to be visceral enough many times.

I'd spend more time with the game myself and build some sort of a rep before making patronizing comments about how other members here play.

Shattered Maze, we have played many times. You should be able to vouch 1st hand that i do not need to learn from scratch. You have experienced that u cannot beat me on the strength of dm pk.

But if u need to see the imbalance of dmpk: go play schackal81 (a very tough shun player) and when he DM PK's for the 4th time of the round and u block it, press pg for ur garuanteed follow throw attempt, and watch him 8k under ur garaunteed jab and float u. Enjoy.

It's only VF5 really that has had any issues with inconsistent hitboxes, VF4/Evo/FT had very solid hitboxes and if there's anything wrong with hitboxes in R then it is that they're maybe a little TOO solid.

    Anyway

    about VF6

I think due to a lot of reasons it will take quite some time before they even announce it, but I hope that the next VF is a drastic change to what we've seen before. Just be a very different game. That's why I don't want to make too detailed suggestions about actual gameplay changes because I want VF6 to be so different that you really can't apply VF4/VF5 logic on it. I do think though that it would probably be a wise decision to really streamline the movelists a lot, really clean them up and remove a lot of moves that are unnecessary.

Along the way I think they should "reboot" all character designs, just make every character look VERY different and do a new graphical style. I'm thinking along the lines where you do a remake of an old movie and get new actors do the roles.

Also do away with almost all legacy animations and bring everyone up to date to the standard set in VF5R version B.

Naturally, its perfectly ok for Aoi to crouch under Akiras DE by being in open stance..

Lets face it, hitbox issues have always happened. Some hitbox issues are ok, for instance high/low crush moves like Wolfs SS going under a high punch, but mids should hit more reliably.

I never even argued about DM [P][+][K]. The point is that you shouldn't be making condenscending remarks about how other people play. Maybe if you attended gatherings and built a rep for your gameplay you might be in a place to make such comments towards others. Until then, don't be telling people how they should start learning a game from scratch. Is it that hard to understand?

Nope, never said those games had 100% super-perfect-happy-sunshine-rainbow hitboxes. Not when DE and SDE ducks under jabs. Stupid character.

Tengu is right people, DMPK is not cheap offline because it's -15 on block and not everyone has a fast, pushback, knockdown and evasive dmpk to begin with. Online is a different story though, in online dmpk is a angry friend, I'll give you that much happy friend because I too get pissed off from multiple dmpks in a laggy match. Bottom line is this, DMPK stays.

Um well, I wouldnt say Blazblue is a dramatic detachment from GG... The game mechanics are still there and pretty similar.

Also, I seem to be a conservative, so you will hear me oppose these things.

-tone down fuzzy guard (make throws faster by a couple frames?)
-more special property moves (this is kinda hard to qualify, sorry)
-ETEG limited to 2 escapes (the game shouldn't reward manual dexterity over mental dexterity imo)

Nah. The current system rewards BOTH styles of dexterity equally. Makes the game accessible.

    ahahhahahahaaha.

Shattered Maze: I like the gamer tag [IMG]

EMX: I think that those with those most dexterious, nimble, quick acting fingers should be rewarded for being physically and mentally gifted in these areas (wish i was one of them.) This is a competitive endeavor, all competitive advantages should be rewarded. be it knowledge or ability.

Jeneric: I agree, complete remake. Make the old schools available by beating arcade mode with the new ones, or by reaching highest rank in quest. Streamlined moves list, and substitutable moves, like i guess u could do in final tuned?

MORE CUSTOMIZATION (create a character). I know i have been preaching this since i first got here, but this is a huge draw for the western market (and a personal passion of mine.) Look at how popular Smackdown vs Raw is, and how every year they are focusing more and more on customization. Look at how madden (altho its two steps forward one back nonsense) has progressively moved forward with create a character, team, playbook, plays, etc. same for NCAA of any sports game. Look how action games like God of War, and FPS like fallout incorporate RPG like systems to allow you to build ur skills and customize your abilities.

Its not a coincidence that the most popular games generally have a deep create a character interface. To not have this in todays marketplace is to intentionally set yourself at a disadvantage. not insurmountable by any means, but still.

editorial note: of course u'd have to lock created characters into the frame of their fighting style. i.e. a smaller character model for shun or eileen, no 7 foot tall, long and rangy drunken masters.

and when this does happen, u can all expect to see my ninja attired monk reeking online havoc [IMG] at least to the best of my abilities. lol, and an old lady drunken master....HIZZZAAAAH.

who wouldn't want to see a really fat female sumo or wrestler......rhetorical question, no answer necessary.

I can't wait, i'm sure sega will make VF6 adhering to all of our desperately wanted changes, the perfect fighting game, with the perfect system, perfect balance, most in depth create a fighter/character ever before seen. A tutorial mode that makes vf4 evo look like the shallow end of a kiddy pool.

and then never release it to a console, and only put in a handful of japanese arcades.

I agree with some of this. They really should weaken turtle style. Maybe get rid of evade canceling... Playing against some of the super defensive skilled people is so tedious. The only way to really hang is to start playing the same way and put in hours and hours in dojo. The defensive options in the game allow for obsessive types to be basically playing a different game. Japanese players seem to like that... Most Americans, myself included, would prefer to predict rather than take away every attack option. Yeah, I adapt some and fuzzy and throw escape when the spirit moves me...

And yo Tengu, I just totally disagree and think DMPK is stupid online and offline. And I know the game reasonably well. You sound like an ass when you say, go and relearn the game, especially when the move in question is mind-numblingly stupid and must be dealt with by guarding on advantage, hardly and advanced technique. And I do not give a shit "what the Japanese players say." How do you even know what they say? FYI I do not think I get killed by DMPK more than most players, I just get annoyed by it more, maybe because I came up playing VF3 which did not have the Simpleton Panic Button.

    Re:

I think being a more skilled player should be rewarded, what is being proposed here seems to be to make it more of a trial-and-error game (which agreed seems to be more common in american gameplay formulas to avoid actual skill playing a role). Plus it doesn't really matter if your opponent does one or four throw escapes when he does ETE, the point is that if you predict an ETE you can punish it and the amount of TEs won't matter.

I like VF to be more a game of skill then a game of luck ("oh, I did the throw he didn't escape, I'm awesome!")

And the only stupid thing about DM P+K is that it means I have to G cancel before I punish with beatknuckle after a succesful evade
