Yeah, after I checked around I found out it's the only way. =) I even found a list of the best psx controllers to use to gut.

I don't know if this has been posted anywhere on here, but I don't remember seeing it. If it's a repeat, I apologize. It gives a great step-by-step of creating an arcade stick from scratch.

Check this out boys and girls:

My order of official Sanwa VF4 sticks just came in. I got four sets. What's cool is that Sanwa and my representative that was serving me gave me some pretty cool VF4evo Keychains! Damn, Japanese customer service is the best.

I have to reiterate, the quality of the sticks. Damn, I can't wait to mount these.

    YEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Nice setup! This might sound like a dumb question, but does Sanwa make a console stick? After searching around, I didn't see any mention of one.

No, Sanvwa does not make a commercial stick. Luckily, I have the skills to build my own stick...

The electronics need to be finished though, but the hard part is done! Hopefully, I can make a web page FAQ. BTW, the true color is closer to the bottom pic.

Awesome stick! I'd like to build a console version eventually. When you're done with you project could you list all the parts you used? Ice-9's got the right idea, I would buy one from you in a heartbeat. Just give me a number....seriously. /versus/images/icons/grin.gif

Wow Catch, that's an awesome looking stick. One thing though, where's the select button?

First, let me tell you this is my first time trying to build a console controller. It was easier than I thought, as far as the electronics goes. Next...

It is a console version. Best thing is... there is no reason to complain that it's not ARCADE as far as controls. I have gone to extreme measures to get the OFFICIAL SANWA VF4 ARCADE CABINET STICKS, PLUS HAVE pretty much mimiced the Japanese Jamma button and stick layout to a tee. The select button was ommitted because I wanted it to look like the arcade. Access to the button is directly on the PCB board taken from an interact joypad.

I just got done doing the electronics and got it working, and I wouldn't go back to the other sticks. I got 3 other sets of VF4 Sanwa Arcade sticks and buttons... maybe I should custom build another one to you guys specifications and characters? Maybe... for the right price.

I'm planning on acquiring another home stick with the right base, and gutting it and putting in the OFFICIAL VF4 Sanwa sticks and buttons.

Would I sell it... hmmm... what are you guys offering? This took me about 50 hours, just cause all my tools is in Hawaii, and it pretty much was built cut by hand saw.

Holy crap!!! Catch22, that is just awesome in every way. It is a thing of beauty! I recently got my MAS arcade stick, and while it is quite good, I would certainly rather purchase a Sanwa stick made by you. I would seriously consider it for several hundred dollars.

Being that I know absolutely NOTHING about electronics, and have never done anything with controllers, would it be very difficult for me to replace the stick on my MAS to a Sanwa? My bank account is running pretty dry, so this seems like one alternative. I just don't know what replacing a stick involves and how hard it is to hook up the electronics.

Nonetheless, I love the arcade board you have created /versus/images/icons/wink.gif

I couldn't imagine building one of those myself, since I'm completely clueless when it comes to building sticks. I'd buy one exactly like yours for the right price.....with Akira's picture of course /versus/images/icons/grin.gif.

I have a MAS stick also, and I'd like some advice on changing my button alignment to the one you have. Mine is horizontal (it sucks). /versus/images/icons/frown.gif BTW are those the large or the small sanwa buttons?

DRE - I got the 360 stick like you recommended, which was only available with stiff springs anyway. The problem... it is WAYY too stiff /versus/images/icons/frown.gif Doing SPoD is no problem, but DLC is basically almost impossible for me, especially from right to left (my thumb is not strong). I have only had it for a few days so I am really really hoping it loosens up. I have been keeping it upside down with the stick pushing to the left in hopes that it will loosen up the springs faster (yes call me crazy). It is quite frustrating. As for the buttons, although they are very high quality, I would also love a "proper" alignment. At first I tried playing with horizontal, but now to compensate, I am using an upside-down L configuration for G, P, K. In other words, G below P, and K beside P. It works out pretty good.

So my only problem now is with the stick. Crouch dashing or other diagonal actions can be frustrating too, since the stick has a tendency to like U, D, B, F directions more than diagonals. And as I mentioned, the stiffness is too much for me.

The springs loosen up after a while. Maybe you could order a looser spring from them. I agree that the diagonals can be tricky sometimes. That's because the stick's in a circular base, not square like the Hori sticks. IMO, the stick is perfect except for the button alignment. Also, it's a little on the hefty side.

I'm thinking of moving the yellow button on mine up an inch to make it the "proper" VF alignment.

Guys, give me a week to make a detailed webpage, and I guarantee you, any body could make this stick. No experience necessary.

    Seriously, this is simple stuff.

Awesome Catch. Quality merchandise. I want to learn how to make my own sticks too, for electronic experience. I can't wait to see your site. In the meantime, could you post the site you recommended for ordering parts?

Awesome site. Too bad I can't read japanese, but the pictures were enough to spark some creative juices /versus/images/icons/smile.gif As soon as your sight's out, I'm getting right to work. Thanks a bunch.

Catch: I'm curious and can't wait for your site, so I'll ask here.

The cabinet and the pics on the cabinet...were they ordered or did you make them yourself? Bah...I should just calm down and wait for your site. I'm pumped though...can't wait to make my own stick. It'll be a fun project.

You mean the base? Oh, I made it myself, including the picture you see in the underlay.

Cool. I hope on your website you tell how to make the base and the pictures on it as well. You don't know how pumped up I am to make my own stick. I couldn't even concentrate in class today...and 2 more classes to go. Hopefully I won't get lazy halfway into the project like I normally do...it's a horrible habit /versus/images/icons/frown.gif
