Yeah, the customer had made the design off of this:

Here's the layout for the 6 buttons, which I designed the button layout after the Jamma layouts on Sanwa's site.

You'll need a hole spade (1 1/8") wide that costs about $5, and a drill to drill out the holes for Sanwa Buttons. Expect to sand and make the hole half a millimeter wider... the next biggerst hole spade is 1 1/4" which makes the hole too big. I don't have a dremmel tool, so that's the kind of trouble you're gonna have. Good luck sanding.

I want a six buttons one.

    I just e-mailed you.
That stick looks really nice. I wish I have the skill to build one on my own.

I was wondering the exact process of using the crimp on connecters and daisy chaining the ground across the terminals. Do you just strip a part in the long wire and crimp it? And i was also wondering how u would know which of the prongs on the joystick and pushbuttons were the command and which is the ground.

strip the ends of the wire and crimp it, or solder it on directly. If you use solder and a soldering iron, you are guaranteed opitmal connection between terminal, and wire. Wire as seen in the diagram. The diagram is as simple as can be.

Also, you can use any terminal as ground because it's just a break in the wire (hot or ground). The pushbutton reestablishes connection when you press it.

For those folks having trouble reaching arcade infinity . . . When I asked them about ordering a Sanwa stick 6 mos ago, they told me $20, special order only. Shipping from them ought to be cheaper than ems from japan, too.

Never got around to building a stick 'cuz my modified virtua stick pro is still holding up, but seing catch22's stick makes me want to start back up on the project.

Depends how nice you want it to look, and the tools you already own or can borrow...I made mine for about $30 Canadian using Happ controls joystick and buttons.

BMF, REALLY? That's awesome, where did you get all the parts? I'm from alberta so that's pretty amazing... $30 huh? I'm stunned...
But, yeah, where did you get all the parts, and does that include all the shipping and everything? Cause if so then I'm gonna start next thursday... (it's payday then). /versus/images/icons/cool.gif

    Catch22,

Can you update your controller builder website?

I'm on winter break now and would like to get started.

davidiii: I got all my parts from an arcade parts distributor in Ontario...that's where i live, it was a 45 mins drive. I believe the stick was $15 and the buttons where $1.50 each...I got five. You should call happcontrols and find out if there is a distributor near you...if not then you'll need to order the parts from the states, I believe there is a minimum order of $20-30 american if your getting it form the states. The website is www.happcontrols.com ...As for the base, go to any hardware store...I got cheap wood for about $10, it was enough for two sticks plus more...if your willing to make your stick look as nice as the ones catch22 makes you'll probably spend more money and a lot more time. You also need a third party psx controller(got mine for $10). Finally, all the tools and wires...i started and finished my stick in about 6 hours...you should check out catch22 website for help and be prepared to get really frustrated when soldering to the psx controller circuit board /versus/images/icons/smile.gif !

BMF, that's great. I think for the base I'm gonna try and make it really fancy. I've got a friend who refinishes furniture and I'm gonna get him to show me how to make a nice refinished board, I might use some fancy wood that he can get for really cheap too, he's got connections here. And I might even have a custom joystick ball, but probably not. I'm getting a little excited now... /versus/images/icons/grin.gif

I got the Ultimate Joystick and the Ultimate buttons...I was going to get the competition buttons but they didn't have any in stock. The Ultimate ones are the standard concave buttons you see in north american arcades while the competition ones are the convex ones. The Ultimate Joystick is really good so you shouldn't have any problems with it...I haven't tried the competition one so I can't comment.
