If theres something that I can recommend in regards of online events:
I recommend that you try to finish the event within one day if at all possible. Once it delays beyond that, all the peoples normal lives and timetables and delays will break the whole thing, and it ends up never finishing.

If possible, have daily tourneys with a single elimination or something. Just so it can be finished while everyone is still present.

Single Day tourney with best 2 out of 3 sounds good, single elimination is kinda meh, just imo though..

    Here is my recommendation:
practice this idea on VF5 Vanilla then make adjustments when FS is released

A major point of these online events is the lobby system - VF5 Vanilla does not have a lobby so it's not a reliable indicator of what I want to achieve. I did look at the old WCG threads and the Shakedown for some idea. Either way, I think the way I am scheduling each individual event will be satisfactorily for most people.

Also, each individual event is to be finished within a single day.

I'm down for one and done. Keeps things fast and furious. If you lose better luck next time, you don't have long to wait anyway get back in the dojo.

It'd be like the tourneys in quest mode in vanilla, good shit!

Alright, with VFDC going through maintenance and the game being released next week, the online events are tentatively being planned to start after Evo 2012. I apologize for the constant delays on info to these events.

I have been in a couple of online leagues. You are usually given a list of opponents and a time period. All you need to do is submit a video recording or screen shot of the match highlights. And post it on a thread. You opponent has to confirm it before it is official.

Since VF cannot really differentiate the quality of a win you can use rounds to do that.

Since vf allow spectators we can have admin account that just set up lobbies and not play but there for watching and recording replays.

Is this no longer call the VFDC Tournament Circuit? I like the idea of being in a circuit or league makes it seem more sports like.

It is still called the VF Circuit.

This was a thread made before the name of the season was made up.
