Whaaa? Kilik wasn't really top tier before, I don't think, and people say he was massively nerfed in 4... it's like, if you can block low, you can kill Kilik now.

I also agree with Tricky... not sure Mitsu is top tier either. He's got some spammable mixups, but as players get better, I wouldn't be suprised to find he starts losing ground. I also think he was never considered really top tier in previous versions, and against, he's mostly been nerfed in 4. (Note: I do really hope payoff from lows is no longer as all-important as before... I thought that was just due to crazy brokeness in SC3)

    Are you sure???

I read that Mitsu was lower tier in 3 but they brought him back up near the top for 4...

Honestly, I don't know enough about the game yet other than to say I think Siegfried is the number one character, followed by Kilik IMHO and either Mitsu or Seung Mina at 3 and 4 respectively...

Someone link the frame data please!!!!!

I will admit, when I was using Lizardman, his low attacks are so good he can just rape people...

There is no frame data... Namco doesn't publish it the way sega does for VF. The guys who wrote the bradygames guide even claim to have specifically requested it, and were turned down, so... someone will just have to sit down and dojo and work it out.

Mitsu is generally considered good by new players because of that damn 2kb. However, as bad as it seems... the SC4 version is actually slower than the SC3 version, and I believe both of those are slower than the SC1 version, and even back in SC1 he wasn't top tier. He's always been a middle of the road, fairly solid character, and it seems to be staying that way.

Kilik has good range, but he's too linear. If you're good at stepping, and can block his lows, then he runs out of steam. Dunno about Seung Mina... I also have a hunch that she's good, but I haven't heard many more competitive players agree with that assessment. Hard to really say anything yet... but yeah, don't make the mistake that range = power in this game. It's really, really not true. Even Siegfried gets more from the kicks Tricky described, along with high soul damage, and high regular damage. His good range is just icing on the cake, at best.

Yes, I need more time with the game to see if I can find my own answers to some of the problems I'm having.

Obviously, learning some of the deadlier mix-ups a little better will at least help me defend more effectively...

Sieg has this spinning double low attack I eat a lot and the other one where he does two horizontal slashes and then a low stab, I eat that constantly too... Looks like I just need to learn more about the system and my nemesis characters...

Kilik and Seung have the range I haven't figured out how to defeat yet. A lot more of it is me lacking skill than anything else I'm sure.

It's still a wicked fun game for me to play regardless of any balance issues so far...

Range is hard with Ivy... her whip attacks are a bit slow, and I don't know any sword attacks that make her dash-in as part of the attack animation. You're sort of on your own to control distance effectively.

I've been trying to learn her a bit, myself, but it's very difficult to control her stances, and get the move you need at any given time. As a beginner, I'd kinda suggest you might want to pick up someone a little easier to use at first, to get a better understanding of what you need to learn to use Ivy effectively.

The problem I had that lead me to using Ivy in the first place is that winning with my Lizardman was so easy people were just pulling on me... No one uses him but Lizardman is a beast... Literally /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

My Ivy is coming along fairly well, just a few characters that give me fits... The best way to play her well is just be VERY familiar with what moves you have out of each stance and remember what stance has the move you want if your trying to get into it...

I'm getting better but I sucked bad at first. I was doing whip moves in sword stance, sword moves in coiled stance, you get the idea. It wasn't pretty.

Ivy has a few of lunging moves worth mentioning from sword, that I have found anyway.

66A- Lunging, circular mid slash that knocks down on hit... This is her forward 8-way run attack with A button from sword form. It's one of the best moves in that stance IMHO...

6A+B- lunging stab/hit throw that back turns your opp. from in close. Follow with another throw or combo from there...

66B- High, lunging stab that knocks down. This is the one where they fly back spinning like a spiral...

Sadly, if I end up really, really sucking with Ivy, I'll have to go back to the super Lizard/Man... I'd probably be the only one.

gern if u liked the liz man keep using him eventually you'll run across someone who can stop your stuff and then you should hopefully not be running through nub sauce anymore.

in ranked with soph i can basically angel dash angel dash AA over and over and not except most people to block it even at rank 54 which is kinda sad cuz I dunno who the hell they're fighting against that suck so hard to not block a mid low setup.

play some against outfoxd, denkai, slide, n me we'll shut that lizardman down . . . or die trying !

I was told in the other SC games you can GI throws. In this one you can't. So basically 2KB would be powered up because you can't GI to avoid the mid/low or throw setup. and 2K itself is safe, the B is unsafe from my exp.

You can step Mitsu's 2K to the left.

. . . so to his front or back because depends on who's left you're talking about it's different.

Your character's left, so if you're on 1up side, to the back.

Shit, really? No wonder I been eating so many throws. I keep trying to GI like back in the day and I pay for it every time.

Now I need to buy this and make a female Voldo.

Anyway, Voldo and Seig are my main SC chars. Played Nightmare, Asta and YungSung a little. Might mess with Hilde, if anything.

I actually tend to vary in character types in fighters, really.

The game is worth buying for this reason alone.. 66k from backturned with a female is the lolz.

Sega doesnt publish frame data for VF afaik. Our data is from japanese site called 1/60, those guys test everything with programmable controllers. If Im mistaken and the official guide (which I have never had) actually has frame data, I apologize)

On VF I play with Pai. On SC4 I play with Raph and Yung Seung (SP). May seem weird for the switch in styles, but I kind of take my VF5 mentality in with this game aswell. Pai has a lot of moves that I really used as just decoys for what I was really trying to do. And Raph and Yung do also.

Raph is my main character though, Yung is pretty damn cool also. Plus I don't see a lot of people playing with them (I haven't started ranked yet). Raph's mixups and evades are CRAZY. Once I see how somebody is playing I can adjust on the fly because Raph really has an answer to just about every attack somebody is dishing out. And he has one of the fastest kicks in the game. No I don't spam it, but when people try to spam the same combo on me over and over while I'm blocking I simply time when they get out of the animation and kick them fast as shit to start my own combo.

That leads to another thing that I noticed about this game. You really have to know you're fighters quickest move. Once you get caught blocking it's hard to get your opponent off of you if you don't know a quick way to attack back.

SC4 is deeper then I expected though.
