yeah after seeing the vid it looks pretty much like AM2 kingdom hearts but it has like...akira...and backflip kicks...yay...

maybe the problem is that with a working title like VF quest we thought it had something to do with VF. Now if we imagined it as AM2's real vision of, "hey, remember that one game with donald and cloud in it. Didn't that sell pretty good?" then we'd all be living content with the pile of dung that we see before us.

however, i remember when i first saw the screen shots for cel shaded zelda and thought it looked shitty. Then i saw it in motion and about fainted. But then i played it and realized that no matter how much i feel like a pirate as im sailing for 30% of the game...im sailing for 30% of the game and that just gets old. I would literally set my course then go make a sammich, or go to the bathroom or do whatever little task that would take up 1-3 minutes.

Now i prepose that we all lower are expectations to almost nothing, then when the game comes out and is mediocre, we'll think its pure gold!

was that 14 yr old kid..doing some spider-man action clinging & swinging from light poles ..lame.. . it looks like to me that you go through the game learning the abilities of the VF characters...maybe a random fightingstyle..kinda like unknown/combot from tekkn...

That's exactly what I was looking forward to. It seemed to be so obvious but I guess not.

 

I am fed up with Sega and its designs. I was really hoping to get some really good virtua fighter story telling and gameplay, but instead you have to play with a 16 year old boy. I hate Sega. At least until Outrun comes out. I am just frustrated. Vectorman looked like crap(thank the Gods it was canceled). Altered Beast looks alright, but thisi is not the Sega of old anymore. They are a crap factory of disrespecting there great Franchises. WHY THE HELL AM I FISHING IN A SONIC GAME!!!!!!!!!!!! WITH A RETARDED CAT LOOKING FOR A GAY FROG!! FISHING! FISHING! Some one destroy Sonic Team Now! AM2 is cool, but this Virtua Fighter thing will not be Supported.

 

I'm gonna go the other way to everyone and say it looks appealing to me!, lol. At first like Dre said, I thought of a Shen_mue style game but I took a long think about it and thought it wouldn't be like that, I mean look at the characters and their clothing to the backgrounds of the games. It's like a time warp between them all (prolly making no sense at all so I'll stop).
It does seem a bit like Kingdom Hearts tho with the running around bits while using the VF characters moves, I saw the Dragon Spear, lol. I wasn't however expecting it to be kids style tho. Oh well, I'm willing to give this game a try when and if it comes out. Sega are prolly trying something different and who knows, it may or may not be a flop. Time will tell.

 

I am sorry, but the look of a game really has to captivate me and virtua fighter is not supposed to look like this. It may not be exactly virtua fighter, but if they are using the name to sell more units, then I am going to make sure I don't get jerked in the end. I want a real virtua fighter spin off. I don't want some little dweeb stealing fighting moves. What a jerk!

sorry, my mistake. well, the cover looked like crap /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif and the in-game screens looked like crap too since it was so plain (the screenshots dont do the game justice). i really had little to no expectations to that game, but it turned out great.

VF Quest might be like ICO. and like i sed before "who knows?". its not like any of u have played it. ill give it a chance.

wen i first saw Virtua Fighter, i hated the game. i just HATED it. it had no flashy moves or any interesting characters. its storyline is something a 10-year old couldve written in a day, and it looked like crap. i only considered it because of the raves it got. right now, im lovin it.

VF Quest might be like that. but if it does turn out to be crap, a well... i still have my VF4 EVO /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

im sorry but im still confused, are you talking about the first VF or VF4/evo? Cause either way i dont see it, VF1 was revolutionary in every way, and the graphics in 4/evo are god damn sharp.

im talking about all VFs. TRY to see it from my point of view... sure they look sharp, graphics are amazing and everything, but the character designs are just so... boring... thats what i meant by not appealing (my two cents, dont hate). (sorry, im sure theres a better word than "appealing" but i cant come up with it rite now /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif). sure, the first one was revolutionary and Evo has great graphics but the "look" isnt attractive. its not ugly (its FAR from ugly) but it doesnt particularly attract me like SC2 does.

(...but SC2 doesnt play as well as virtua fighter 4.)

VFQuest doesnt look that appealing either, but it might be a great game like VF. r u still confuzzled?

I'm a bit late on this thread.

I remember, the first time they announced VF quest, I was hoping like most of us, a Shenmue style game with the VF characters and a good storyline to give some life to our favourite characters.

But then, I saw that no news at all was coming and started wondering if we were going to see a VF RPG --> Project Berkely --> Shenmue type of thing, ending with a game that has nothing to do with VF, but hopefully a great game anyway.

After a few month, I heard that they wanted to work with almost SD style characters (big head and small bodies). So there I was completely lost.

So seeing as the news confirms this last bit of news I had read, I wasn't really surprised, but disappointed.

I'm sure Sega must have changed plans several time during the development of this game. And finally at a loss decided to do a fairly low budget game ( I don't think the game we're getting is high budget) and try to put a link even as flimsy as that one to the VF franchise.
This is all speculation of course, so who knows?

Anyway, I'd really like to see all the prototypes and cancelled projects at Sega's offices, I'm sure I'd see some great stuff!

That game might be fun to play, I'm definitely going to play it... and hope for a real VF RPG someday and Shenmue 3.

 

I was upset at first, but maybe they're trying to appeal to a more 'flashy' game style, to appeal to that audience, without disgracing the fighting game we all know and love. If it were a fighting game with all that flash and unneccesary explosions, i bet it'd make a lot more people upset... like this guy ---> /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif

But really. whats the deal with Sega? Oh, the millions of idea's that spring to people's mind when they hear Virtua Fighter Quest and they choose THIS! I mean, this might have been a good side game to the REAL Vf Quest, but this is the main attraction? Why, Sega, why? What did we do to you? On a lighter side, (pushing away the initial dissapointment of a lacking of virtuafighterosity) This might just be a good action adventure RPG.
