I'm on the side of sexy anniversary merchandise - T-shirts, sticks, the aforementioned art book... What I'd really like is an official US release of Terada's Ten Stories, but I know I'm only dreaming, there.

Also, Capcom is all over the place with their Street Fighter 25th anniversary. Huge price money, anniversary tournaments and all that. If Sega was going for something I'm afraid it might be overshadowed by this fact. At least in the west. Some birthday shirts would be cool at least.

Any idea if Sega has begun to work on VF6?

Sorry I'm new to this game so I'm not up to date with VF related news.

You could always check the news and announcement sections on the main page. Easiest way to be up-to-date in a matter of minutes. But to answer your question directly, SEGA hasn't said one way or the other if there even will be a VF6. It's doubtful that there won't be a sixth iteration eventually, but it stands to reason that even if they're already planning for it, the company is going to keep mum, because they want Final Showdown to get the attention it deserves, before everyone is distracted by promises of things to come.

I'd rather see something new than HD versions of old stuff. HD doesn't make everything look impressive, and when we're talking about old-school polygons, it can really only make flaws that much more glaring. I don't really see the point, personally.

You would make the native resolution 1080P, instead of upresing the video through some processor. You would just make the old game look sharp on today's TVs. The arcade and home ports all were coded for older legacy video displays.

Try hooking up your Saturn or Dreamcast to an HD capable TV and find out why HD versions would be cool.

Also, take a look at the Daytona USA HD port to see why the original VF in HD would be cool.

Personally, I'm of the opinion that all these 'HD versions' are nothing but cash cow stuff to resell the same shit to everyone. Same with virtual console and Sony's ps1 games. Personally, though, making-of footage and interviews with concept art, etc. and standard definition would sell me the original game again more than HD version without any of that. However, a big reason of that is because I only have CRT televisions. ;) The HD revolution doesn't really do anything for me, honestly.

But yeah, that's what I want. I just want the same game, but with visuals that take advantage of todays tvs/monitors. I don't want more polygons, I Just want the resolution upped. It's OK that you won't buy these HD remake games, but there are a market for them with gamers like me who actually want them and will buy them. If they do make one, you will have the choice not to buy it, and I will have the choice to buy it. I just want the choice or chance.

If they did it, I'd love to see something like they did with the 10th anniversary edition, but maybe use VF2 as the basis to use the new characters. IDK if you played 10th anniversary but it included vf1 style characters from all the games since vf1 up to 4evo. It was really cool, imo. The game was moderately broken because of it, but they seemed to have at least tried to balance the new characters into it. If they used VF2 as the basis (and HD or no HD, but it'd probably be HD, I guess...would seem counter productive to make it not HD since 360 can naturally handle 1080 fine...can't it? I forget...anyway, tangent..blah) it could be really fun to play. :)

I find interviews and odd anecdotes about my favorite games fun to find out about. I don't know what kind of interesting stories about the creation of the games there are, but I remember seeing a photo a long time ago with Yu Suzuki and one of his fellow developers in a parking garage 'play fighting' each other...I bet there's a story behind that photo..

I'd like an arcade perfect HD collection of every major VF with the option to use the original or HD graphics, a tournament for each game in said collection and VF6 with Siba as a playable character.

I wouldn't say that's off-topic. It counts in the VF lineage, as far as I'm concerned.

Hey, I played Fighter's Megamix to DEATH on my Sega Saturn.

I have been reading through the comments here, and it seems many want HD versions of older VF games, some don't, some feel it is gouging, etc, etc...

I say, for the 20th anniversary, release a full retail Fighter's MegaMix 2....include of course, the fighters that were in the original one (particularly the Fighting Vipers ones...many cool characters there), then include all the characters from VF up until VF5.
If they want to leave out the big headed Sonic Fighters characters, the stupid Pinada, or the Daytona Car as fighters, I am ok with that...as I thought those were stupid to include in the first place...and WAY out of line with the VF universe.

THEN, along with the full retail version of Fighters Megamix, include along with it, remastered HD versions of VF 1-4 Evo.
And when I say remastered, I mean, DON'T mess with the graphics (i.e. leave VF 1 blocky as released in the arcade), but DO up the resolution to 720 or 1080p to accommodate modern displays (this would eliminate any fuzziness and blurriness that anything lower than 720 would show on an HD display).

This way Sega can release a full retail game (the Fighter's Megamix 2), plus still satisfy nostalgia fans by releasing older versions...but not gouge anyone in the process.

Also, as in the original Fighters Megamix, an option should be included in FMg2 to either play with "VF rules" or "Fighting Viper" rules....depending on what kind of mood you are in that day.

For PS3, it should be easy enough to include ALL content on one blu ray disc.
For 360, the Fighters Megamix game would probably have to be put on one dvd, and the VF re-releases on another disc...

Hopefully, they would stay away from doing any of this via DLC, as I am sure most people would rather have the discs themselves.

    Cmon Sega ...DO IT!! CelebratingSmiley2.gif
