Dude, every version was balanced enough in a way (or at least not TOO imbalanced)! Of course it's also about making money, that's why I said "Since there is demand, especially in Japan..."

So, and that's IMHO, I think most people would have loved a new version of sort of VF4 before going into VF5. So Sega thought of giving that to the fans and also make money. Of course it's also about money, they are a business after all.

It's not like half VF players in Japan will stop playing now that there are new moves and stuff. The hardcore players (read: most of the players there) would prolly see this as a new fun challange and jump in. Let's say there were, for example, 1000 players who started playing Evo. Let's also say the number went down to 600 who still play regularly. What would happen if a new version comes up? The number of players would prolly surpass 1000.... This = more money for Sega, right? But why not? Can you convince me that you will have more fun playing Evo than this, now that we've seen the footage? I think this looks fun, and fun is what games are about. More fun = I want to play more.

Now let's say a percentage of the players would be pissed off because Akira got a lifting [P][K] or because Kage became a super-sayan (or whatever).... They would complain, express their complaints in testing and stuff.... Then a Version B would come out. Nothing is wrong with that either. We won't get to play either of them anyways outside of Japan.

As for a potential console version, it will most likely be the most updated version (like PS2 Evo). Which wouldn't prolly come out this year in Japan. Since Evo came out about a year ago in Japan, that would be more than a year for Evo on PS2 before a new one came out, which is pretty good if you ask me.

I know it's not like before when VF4 took more than 5(?) years to come out after VF3. But I don't believe as many players played back then as now (Thanks to the VF.NET service in part). Gotta move on with the times, it seems games are 'consumed' much faster these days /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

I'll wait until December when they announce the "super hyper re-mixed special edition arcade classic" to get excited.

If they dont release it as a GREATEST HITS here, I'll be pissed. I can't afford to spend $50 everytime AM2 changes a move or gives someone a football helmet.

There should be a point at which they should just "let it go"...

anyone have the trailer at a better quality? If one turns up could someone post the link pronto. It's just so hard to make out some of the things that's going on cause it's so dark /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif. And I don't have very good eyes anyways /versus/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Thanks in advance.

OMG! That vid is nuts... I can't wait till I'm in Japan now. I do hope that they release it on PS2 though, because honestly, what's the use of playing an old version.

Yes... this is a cheap trick by SEGA, but VF has always been changing versions with small revisions. So this is just a bigger jump than a version change. The only thing is that it's not free =P

Honestly, if they give everyone some cool new moves than I'll be happy. VF needs to be flashier (not like MvC2 flashy) so that more people will be into it. As long as the core hand to hand fighting isn't completely changed (IE, no fireballs or EXTREMELY unrealistic moves), then it's still VF. You gotta keep people interested in a game, after all. What better way?

And that way, VF5 will be that much sweeter, and hopefully will have a different 'feel' than VF4. Nothing's worse when a game that comes out years later is much too similar than the old game. I'm sure you can think of several examples.

EDIT: i bet that movie just gave away 85% new advancements in FT, and as shang said im guessing no new backgrounds /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif.

I wouldn't bet on no new stages..... besides the rumor talk, just look at the picture of akira towards the beginning of the trailer. The waterfall is flowing behind him...

Man, that Kage air-combo really cool. I hope SEGA programmed the combo to be like Lion's [6][1][P][G],[P][P][P] where the timing is crucial. Let see how it will come out.

Can't wait to see Lion's new move /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif Putting the [9][P][G] back would be nice /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

then again we have heard big rumours in IRC that there will be 3 new characters. A boxer, Tai kwon doe and caporiea.

I do NOT want to see a caporiea person in VF, there's no point in putting a tae kwon person unless he's more throw based than kicking, possibly replacing Goh. A boxer would be cool tho but then we have Brad. Oh well, hope these are just rumours tho I don't mind the boxer.

*waits patiently for the next clip of FT*

What about a Karate Master? A character with a crisp Okinawan style would be awesome in Virtua Fighter..

I wouldn't mind seeing a caporiea character. It's an interesting style.

A VF4 final tuned mean last vf4 before vf5. Also as all know that vf5 developement started, look like they will spend a good time on it and it will be very different from the vf4 we know.

Bets can start:
[6_] Lau wont be in vf5? (dead or ill)
[6_] Who from Pai and Lei Fei will get Lau's technic? (koen-Ken)
[6_] It looks like Goh is hunting Sarah who is protected by Vanessa. Should we expect someone wont participate to vf5?
[6_] maybe vf5 will show the return of Taka /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Anyway... I love current characters with very different technic (in comparaison Tecken has lots of characters but without much difference, no different way to play them like in vf). I'm asking me if in vf5 we will have more fighters than in vf4...

About vf4 final tunned, there is no new characters.

I have vf4 and vf4 evo. If you have both, try the "old" vf4 again. /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif For a fan like me, the "evolution" is not just a word but a real balancement with lot of new mouvement (I play mainly Jacky). I buy the final tunned if the evolution between evo and ft is as important as original to evo.

stop with the cock envy. Capoeira, visually, is one of the most impressive styles out there. DOn't hate on a style cause one game fucked up in representing it.

Not nessisarily tekken's fault. The idea of making Christie the Capoeira fighter intstead of Eddy (IMO) was a good step for tekken, still Capoeira is not in the least bit interesting to me, seriously, try flipping around like a monkey while a boxer plummets you with punches. Speaking of boxing, twould be interesting if they gave Vanessa a weaving ability (not like Steve Fox, but like the Vanessa from King of Fighters!) Seriously cool
