(My thanks goes to Myke for providing the link to this blog from another topic.)

Here's some further info the 360 port:

    http://www.andriasang.com/e/blogs/anoop/2009/04/01/voot_360_dev_secrets/

The first link contains a summary of the blogger's experience during a play test at Sega's Yappa Asobinasai gaming event in March. The second link contains new info on the port’s development, specifically, why it's being handled by AM2 and not AM3.

    Thanks for that Adio.

    From the second link:

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">2. The team is making use of the experience and user feedback from their work on the 360 version of VF5.

Regarding this later area, Murayama shared a few specifics on the game's online system.

Apparently, there were some complaints about VF5 regarding the lobby system. Responding to this, the team has completely redone the system for VOOT.

The VOOT lobby system begins by using various conditions to find opponents at the same level as the player, then from this list selects the top connection speeds to display a list of 7 opponents. However, at this point, you can also create your own session and appear as a candidate in other people's lobby. Matching becomes easier because you can select a player for combat and can also be selected by another player.</div></div>
I like the sound of this lobby system, and I also like the fact that they've listened and responded to feedback from console VF5.

    I'm hyped for VOOT!

is it wrong that when i read voom i think of virtual on marz?

and in any case, any virtual on is a good virtual on at this rate. at least we're getting something that's never been released stateside before as well, so i find little to complain about.

next on the list needs to be online daytona....

it's good to know all our bitching and moaning does not fall on deft ears.

The revamp of the lobby system, especially their reasoning for it, gives me renewed hope for VF5R console release.

I feel like they might even go as far as to give us a revamped quest mode a la arcade style.

To be fair VF5 doesn't really have a lobby system.. Anything is an improvement over it.. Trust me our complaining about the lobby system isn't going to AM2.. That would require Sega doing their jobs.. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

i really hope this is true. i was one of the poor bastards who missed out on both saturn and dreamcast twinsticks and would give my left nut for a set nowadays.

I'm not holding my breath with regards to the twin sticks. We're talking about the mass production of a niche peripheral for a very niche port of a game on Live Arcade.

If this was a fully marketed "Triple-A" release then I'd have more hope. At best, its possible that Sega might make a small batch available via pre-order on their website (Which we'd have to pay through the nose for...) but even that's a stretch considering the financial climate.

It would certainly set a precedent though.

Why don't you just get some now? I picked up a Japanese copy of OT and some DC Twinsticks last year for about £42 (which is about $61 nowadays) off eBay. I think that's a pretty good deal.

hehe just realized I have a JP copy of VOOT for DC. If I can get my damn Dreamcast back from my ex roommate I might spark up a few games to try and get a little head start... I know nothing about the game. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif I can't even remember buying it.

There's almost a tear in my eye... I might finally get to play VOOT with Myke /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif He'll destroy me, I'm sure...

I'll have to call the Seattle VOOT players up and making sure we're all getting back into this.

VO: Marz was bad... but not necessarily because of the control scheme (for the record, controls weren't too bad). It was bad because it was based on the 2v2 designed VO:Force, but stripped down to be 1v1 in multiplayer and thus your options felt very limited and kind of like a broke man's VOOM.

It's fine being 1v1, but I think VOF had all characters simplified to focus more on teamplay and strategy. Without the teamplay component, it just doesn't feel right.

But... if VOOT works out really well on Live. Force would be an awesome port down the line.

VOOT is still one of my all-time favorite games ^_^
