Mainly Temjin here too, I go with the regular Joe /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Been messing about with the other characters a bit, I find Ajim and Bal-Bados really difficult to use.

I've been playing the demo (I made the mistake of purchasing the Saints Row 2 DLC earlier, going over my budget for the month...) since its release and am really pleased with how well Sega handled the port. I tend to just leave the demo on idle in the background in a sort of pseudo “watch mode”.

I've been using the twin stick configuration for authenticity and while I found it cumbersome at first I'm slowly getting the hang of it. I'm looking forward to having some online matches with Cypher and finally trying out Stein-Vok too.

Ok.....so I'm very late to VOOT. I played it once or twice at a local arcade years ago on an actual cabinet setup. And I remember the Twin Stick cabinet being quite impressive at the time. I can't say I'm really looking forward to playing on the X360 pad. So I have a few questions about the game. Because I'm either going to spend hours playing it or just skip it altogether. My two internet connections are locked for the next few days (serving as dedicated servers) so I can't download the game nor demo.

That being said...is there anyone on VFDC who plays using custom or modded twin sticks? Did you build them yourself? Or did you have someone else make them? Are those HORI Twin Stick available anywhere for retail? I've yet to read anyone enjoying preferring the 360 controller over the original arcade design.

What are the single player and offline options for VOOT on the 360? How good is arcade mode? Is there versus play offline? Like through a system link or LAN? Is the game worth it at all without constant online competition? VF's Quest Mode gives the game a huge amount of life offline, you don't even need online competition to extract a huge amount of fun from the recent VF games. Is that the same with VOOT? Or does it suck without people playing online?

Just so that this isn't a total bump for my own purposes I've thrown in a few links below.

This channel has amazing, detailed, thorough tutorials for VOOT for the 360. It covers everything from what I can tell, from basics, to even advanced techniques.

These channels are high level players, probably hardcore older VOOT fans, engaging in regular organized online tournaments. These are the best three channels for VOOT matches that I've come across on YouTube.

Great beginners guide. Site has other good guides as well.

Oratan Forums (Myke linked this before). Probably worth registering if you are into VOOT I imagine.

Yah buddy, I was hardcore VOOT and played in some of the tournaments from time to time. I don't have twin sticks though, granted my gameplay would be a LOT better with them. That being
said I don't really know how it is now, last time I logged on I did have some comp though.

There is nothing wrong with the 360 pad. Trust me, some really crazy good Japanese player online use pad. They can do incredible stuff that most of us can't even do on twinstick (right now anyways)! Most of them use pad.

VOOT works different than Virtua Fighter. There is no tap-tap motion. Special moves are simple press a combination of button together. That's it. I sometimes even play VOOT via DC emulation on PC WITH A KEYBOARD. There is a HUGE MISCONCEPTION floating around the internet that VO is unplayable without twinsticks (usually by unskilled players). The reality is if someone can't play on pad then most likely they can't even play with twinsticks.

The #1 player outside of Japan is Schooly_D. Guess what, he is a pad player. At the time, I use to be the #1 Bal-bados outside of Japan. Twinsticks and pad each has their own strengths and weakness. None is really absolutely better than the other. BTW I use dual analog controls with macro buttons [crouch, special, and crouch turbo]

Single player is Arcade, Score Attack, and Training. There is an offline versus, but it's LAN/system link. THE COMPETITION IN THIS GAME IS CRAZY GOOD AND PLENTY. Good luck even getting 1 win on rank. You are playing against the Japanese in what seems like almost lagless online. There is no 1-2 frame stuff to worry about. The focus isn't execution (no lag online or complicated moves), the focus is mostly overcoming your opponent's superior strategy.

Japanese VOOT are very hardcore and active online. They host successful ONLINE tournaments every month. The first one have 128 players and finish within 2 hours!

I still haven't forgiven sega for not including local multiplayer(split screen) in this. It could have been great [IMG]

Would have to buy it twice to play it with my bro

No splitscreen does indeed suck. It does support system link, but that requires 2 360. For local 2 player, I have to use the DC emulator on PC with 2 360 wireless pad.
