That is so true. Ah, my story is like the same old hero story. I was just a casual Tekken player. Usually got thumped, and caught on fire. Then I found Virtua Fighter. The 4 Evo tutorial not only just taught me the skills I needed for Virtua Fighter, but also for Tekken. The commands are different, but the concepts are the same. So now I kick most asses in Virtua Fighter AND Tekken.

While I do like Virtua Fighter, I prefer Tekken; but VF is a close 2nd.

sorry about the sideplot. And i guess i never really stated that i meant SF has greater depth than (i assumed) it did in the past. I.e. there is room for many levels of technical mastery, but not the complexity of vf5. So...you nailed it master pro, and i think you are definitely right as well. It takes a certain kind of perfectionist in general to be good to great at vf.

Well - they told me it would be the second episode, as it features vf. It was a small interview with maybe a few clips of me training the contestant on how to mash against the CPU! LOL.

 

Heh, are any of the gamers actual fighting gamers? I ask because my friends say those Rock Band scores they were getting weren't that great.

Oh by the by it's Tuesday at 10pm/9pm central time. I can't wait to see it.. for some reason I love watching newcomers pick up and play VF. It's entertaining because I can look at them and be like "I used to do that... and I still do"

You should have taught them Wolf's stagger-low throw.

 

If its anything like the first episode, there will be 2 contestants fighting each other at the end to see which is eliminated.

The person in last place will be up for elim, and the person in first place will choose their opponent. Loser of that match will go home. Last week rock band 2 was the game they played, and the elimination match was a guitar duel. Interestingly enough, the person in last place wasn't the one to go home.

I want to see a VF noob match!!!

 

I tried this with a friend but he couldnt learn it in time (tried to do a quick prep before tourney for someone who doesnt know VF). If that doesnt work then awesome sidekick / grizzly lariat mixup.

I was kind of expecting them to get in trouble with the later computer AI's but Pai took them all to school. Also the actual versus match being between two of the weakest players? Kinda sad, but still pretty entertaining. :3

 

I had no chance of watching this, so what was it like?

 

They had Yuki on for about ten seconds while he showed the guy who won his time a couple attacks.

The real life challenge was just the guys breaking a bunch of fake boards in a time limit.

The asian guy Dante is getting on everyone's nerves, but he took first place so no one had a chance to boot him off.

I didn't stay for the actual head-to-head fight sequence, so I dunno about that.
