What fighting game made you a fan?

Fatalities were to MK (and the rest of the gore game crap), as booty is to DOA, imho. That is, it's just the facade to make up for the lack of gameplay. And it worked, too, drawing in the kiddies by the droves. I mean, fatalities add nothing to actual gameplay, and after you've seen it once, the novelty wears off. But for some odd reason, MK2 was kinda fun.

LOL.. Time Killers.... remember how the armless guys would fight on? And if you won, the armless dork would still dance around in his/her victory dance. Heh, kinda like the Black Knight in Holy Grail... LOL.

MKII was fun, because it had what the rest of the mortal combat series lacked, a fighting system. Mortal Kombat II was the best there was. It was innovative. It looked good. It was fun and had a decent system.

I do remember that. Didn't Johnny Cage endorse it, or something?

Tattoo Assassins was even better. XP

Agios, without the blood, or the booty, it's just another fighting game! I know what you mean, though. It looks like MK5 will have more advanced gameplay, like where you can toggle between fighting styles during a match, AND it will have the blood and guts... so everyone will be happy! I loved the Holy Grail reference, by the way... (King Arthur to the Black Knight: "What are you going to do ~ BLEED on me???")

Karate Champ the one with the 2 sticks, never could remember who made. Either it was DataEast or another company's name that I'd can't seem to bring up anymore.

Without the blood/booty, it's just shyte. I mean, I'm sure many watch Baywatch for the superb plot and acting. /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif

Actually, MK I and II had good gameplay...it was different. It was after those versions that the game went to hell.

I played Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, but I must say the first fighting game that actually made me want to take time and learn was Tekken 3. I played that game like crazy and only stopped playing to learn Virtua Fighter 4. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

Started my first fighting game with VF2 actually with Pai. But I got down right serious with Samurai Shodown, Ukyo being my man man (Yeah, that rotating guy down there). Still play it, still # one /versus/images/icons/tongue.gif

Street Fighter 1 was ok, but basically it was just continously performing the dragon punch until you won the game.

SF2 was the King! Invisible throw anyone?
