that's also a very good matchup, cheers for sticking on-topic rather than making a beavis and butthead post.

But is she too old? I can't recall off the top of my head how old she is. The last movie I saw her in, eyes wide shut, she looked thirtyish.

Kidman's not bad, if you're looking for an edgy quality, which Sarah has in EVO as opposed to the white bread Sarah in VF4.

She's only a couple of years older than I, so she's no more than 31.... a bit old for the role probably.

Some of the VF characters could stand a little age, to make them
somewhat more real, though I'm sure there are young martial artists who
are outstanding, I doubt they're in high school. I'd say Aoi, Lion, and Pai
ought to be older, at least early 20s. Sarah could be played by Kidman at
31, but I can't ever see Kidman getting in that kind of shape. You might as well
go with Uma Thurmond, since she's playing a rocking Shaolin/Samauri assassin
in KILL BILL. I just don't see Kidman changing her physical make-up like that.
Anyhow, the movie producers would have to do something about Sarah's rediculous style, and that
goes for any of those "float" characters, because real humans don't float. I suspect the fighting
styles would get dumbed down in a movie, and that's not a bad thing. Sarah would be the
Kicker, Jeffrey the Slugger, Lau the Tiger Fist, Lei the obvious Shaolin stylist; the emphasis would have to
be on what aspect of the character is most prominent or recognizable...while some characters would
need an upgrade in their style, like Akira and Vanessa, a definitive killing move perhaps. Vanessa could just
be a murderous Thai Knee and Elbow fighter, while Akira would be all about focusing energy into his
few shattering Karate strikes. Akira's style would have to become way over the top to become interesting
    on film.

Actually you're wrong about that. There are plenty of Karate strikes but making them applicable is a different story. That would actually depend on the skill level of the practitioner.

Yeah, Akira on film would be all about Carter Wong as Thunder in
BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA, ie that whole veiny-forehead breathing, neck-flexing, bloating of
muscles prep thing, then releasing that energy in one direction and shattering some Chinese tiling
where once an opp. had been lying.

The introduction of Goh into VF really fucks up the dynamic though, of a VF movie. This creepy
albino reptile is essentially the equivalent of Xin Xin Xiong in Hark's THE BLADE, a tattooed snake-like
being w/out an ounce of sympathy. Lau is VF's villain, but he's mostly a victim of his own pride...
Goh is an assassin apparently, thoroughly corrupt. In a movie, Goh becomes a cliche; I suppose he could become one of
the great kung-fu film secondary villains, that slimy second-in-command or top hired gun who kills off sympathetic
characters until meeting his final demise by the revenger(s) on their way to
tackle the Big Boss. Of course, if I gotta watch Goh in a movie murder Aoi, Shun, or Pai, I won't be pleased.
But that's the rule of the real kung-fu film, that the relative innocents meet bad ends. Truly though, a classic showdown between
Goh and Aoi, Judo and Aikido, could turn out to be one of the most gloriously
gory and painful bone-snapping fight scenes ever...this has to happen.

I think you missed the point/joke gaijinpunch was making.

He's smart enough to know that there's a lot of strikes for any given art. He plays VF, remember?

Not much, but I think I found a really good person for Sarah!

    James King! The supermodel.

she has the perfect sarah body and is also blonde as well, and her face also bears a striking resemblence.
Not only that, James King also has some acting experience, she was one of the nurses in Pearl Harbor.

Now, if only she knew martial arts...

I think that a storm riders age Sonny Chiba would fit Lau pretty well, if he were just a little thinner.

As for Akira, if you look at the cover of virtua fighter can you see who he looks exactly like? Al Gore. It's a dead on match!

actually there was a tanaka bros comic in egm about this, they teased a movie called fighting fighters (obviously a reference to virtua figher)
